I am a Filipino and I travel a lot too. I never thought Indians are generous too just like us Filipinos. Or more. Or different. Visitors in India are considered gods. So, Filipinos can't beat that hahahaha. When my Japanese friend I met in India visited the Philippines, I shouldered most of the incurred expenses touring the islands. He could not believed it especially the pocket money I gave him during his stay. Is this even accepted practice?, he asked. I said no but I will be offended if you do not accept it. He is far from god of course but just like any Filipino host, my happiness is when my visitor feels safe and happy while with me.

Thats why im grateful for me being born as a filipino. Our culture has taught us to be mindful of others, generous despite us lacking, hospitable as we when we do so in some ways it is given back to us on another form, to find humor or happiness amidst any tragedy. An inherent openness and kindness to our fellow human being. As we often say, esp in this time... virus ka lang, pinoy kami. The resiliency, strong will and doing our best in any given situation and at the end of the day lifting all up to God is what makes Filipinos steadfast overcoming life and its adversities. Ika nga in everything, Laban Pinoy 💪🏻🇵🇭💕

She was so generous and kind that everybody remembered her for this trait. One of Filipino traits is "hiya" or Shame. - basically most principles come from this one. So example you have food and eating and there are guests or a person next to you, you offer it at least because it would be a shame to be eating alone. And it's shameful not to acknowledge others. Filipinos are considerate, respectful and generous because of "hiya' or shame. "Shame on me if I cant even do it at least" something like that. So don't be surprised if someone is eating a piece of chocolate and still offer it to you.

Being kind and hospitable is passed generations to generations. The elders set as an example to their children and grandchildren. I remembered my grandpa being so kind when someone is borrowing some money to him even he himself doesn't have one, he will tell to that neighbor to borrow from the store and charged it to his name. That is such a selfless act to help others in need even you don't really have the capacity to do so. And that being said, I look up to my grandpa's kindness and wish to be like him in my everday life.

Filipinos are really helpful even now in the midst of the lockdown I saw people helping each other too in the best way they can. In our sari sari/ mini store my mom allowed "utang" or buy now pay later with our neighbours until the lockdown cause not many people have means to have income now that their companies are temporarily close no vendors allowed, no drivers allowed so no money to spend for their daily needs. It is risky cause we are not sure if they'll be able to pay us in the future but in our hearts we know that we willingly helped and that's already fulfilling enough. Hope you guys are staying safe and healthy 😁

this shows that Filipinos are not only generous, but also trusting. They are not naive, but are generally trustworthy themselves, that's why as a projection, they assume other people are generally trustworthy as well. They are an empathic and sympathetic people. They don't have much, so they feel you when you're in need. their "culturally ingrained sense of community"(roughly "bayanihan"), makes it easy for them to help others out.

I was a latchkey kid. Both my parents worked so hard so from 9 or 10 years old, I would go home to an empty house. Our neighbor, whose daughter is one of my playmates, would call her kids in at around 5:30 p.m. and would include me. She would give us snacks and let us watch TV while she cooked dinner. Even if my mom was late, she wouldn’t let me go home to an empty house and would let me eat at her place. They were by no means a wealthy family, but she never let me go hungry. The amazing thing is that this is not a rare thing in Filipino society. In the Philippines you can see what “it takes a village to raise a child” means. ❤️🇵🇭

We help the needy for the exact reason that we feel their plight because we ourselves don't have much in life. Pls pray for the Philippines as we are praying for the rest of the world for the early containment of this COVID19 virus. Take care, you both.
