*Rory.* Thank you 😊 This was their biggest hit - with heavy MTV play and all 😄
Here's what Nick had to say about this song:
"Where The Wild Roses Grow" was written very much with Kylie in mind. I'd wanted to write a song for Kylie for many years. I had a quiet obsession with her for about six years. I wrote several songs for her, none of which I felt was appropriate to give her. It was only when I wrote this song, which is a dialogue between a killer and his victim, that I thought finally I'd written the right song for Kylie to sing. I sent the song to her and she replied the next day."
The CD that Nick sent over to Kylie to chk out had Blixa Bargeld singing the female part... and Kylie supposedly stayed true to his interpretation 😄 Love the live performances where Blixa sings the Eliza Day role 😄
Looking fwd to Nick's letter to MTV about this vid...and more Nick Cave reax! Thx again 😊

On the demo Blixa sang the Kylie part and there's some great live renditions of Nick and Blixa singing this.

I love these 'murder ballads', and Kylie Minogue is Australian like Nick Cave( and he had a little obsession with her for several years before writing this collaboration to her), there is a live that I really like with Blixa who sings Kylie's score!!! different but fantastic!!!
This song is inspired by a traditional song 'Down in the willow garden'
    Thank you!!!

This was Kylie in her “indie era”. After her success of Confide in me which was a drastic change in musical direction she decided to continue in that vein. She dived into Brit rock and electronica on her Impossible Princess (1997) album which was a total departure from pop. Check out the video for Some kind of bliss - track produced by Manic Street Preachers. She collaborated with Robbie Williams on Kids for her Light Years album another rock pop anthem. Through the years she’s done a lot of these collaborations with Coldplay -Luna , Jimmy Little - Bury me deep in love - to name a few. In 2018 she dropped a country pop inspired album with tracks reminiscent of the above in the more folk or acoustic sound but also not losing focus of her pop sensibility.

Great reaction! I'm so glad this song introduced me, so many others, to Nick Cave. The Murder Ballads album climbed right up my top 3 when I heard it. You should react to O'Malley's Bar, or the ensemble track Death Is Not the End

Yep i believe Nick wrote it specifically with Kylie in mind. Was lucky enough to see them perform it at the Big Day Out in Melbourne.
Haha, its off an album called Murder Ballads so im sure he did kill her...All beauty must die!
Kylie does have spme great music between the pop and excluding the first few years with Stock Aitken Waterman!
Both being involved with Michael Hutchence and this colab brought out a darker more artistic side and confidence, aswell as a bit more credibility.

Nick's cover of Rowland S Howard's Shivers is exquisite, as is Marie Hoy's

It's funny that you've never listened to Kylie but yet claim to know what is or what isn't her styles of music... 🤔 You may be surprised if you do a deep dive and listen to her album "Impossible Princess"!

It’s how I became a Kylie fan after being a metal head in my early 20s 😂 she has this type of diversity but still sticks to her roots to give her music a different spin. When I gave her albums a listen I learned to understand what good pop music is and how ridiculously underrated she is.

Nick Cave approached Kylie's management and they said no, Kylie heard about it and said yes. Kylie has a very diverse career it's not all pop, she has done everything from 80s pop, country, dance, electronically, disco, indie, 90s House, and she is very adaptable check out Some Kind of Bliss, Confide in Me, Dancing, Did it Again, Put Yourself in my Place, and Padam Padam which will show you a quick snap shot of her versatility
