      I agree with you a 100 percent. I’m 16 years old and I have the exam by the end of this week. I couldn’t be more nervous. We only had 5 months to prepare for the CAE, which is basically nothing. Even though during this time we have practiced a lot, most of us still don’t feel quite ready. Honestly, I think that we all would have been way more prepared to sit for the exam next year, but we are suppose to be sitting for Proficieny. Anyway, all schools who force their students to give an exam at such a young age should stop for a minute and think about what they are doing. AND NEXT TIME DEAR TEACHER DO NOT TELL ME I AM READY WHEN I AM OBVIOUSLY NOT.

      Oxford Online English Today I had the rest of my exam . Well , at "Reading and use of English" I know I've answered to all exercises, but they took my sheet of paper before I could transfer my answers to the other sheet so I couldn't write at least half of the answers ( I know I was supposed to have enough time, but I thought 5 minutes are enough to transfer my answers. They weren't, so when they took my sheet I felt highly irritated ). They were good answers.
      At the "Writing" part I was satisfied with my essay, but my email was too short.
      At "Listening" I understood the voices clearly and tried to answer as good as I could. It is the first CAE exam I took.

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1
      @Oxfordonlineenglish1  6 лет назад +2

      @@Oxfordonlineenglish1 Today I received the results . My score is 171 . So I guess according to CAE I am B2 level now . Well I suppose that this is a good result but I think I am capable of more . As I stated above I wasn't able to trasfer at least half of the answers at the Reading part , so that is what I think affected my score . Even if the results say I am B2 level from my point of view I am C1 level. I wanted to take this exam to prove how good my English is. Now , I don't think the results represent my level of English correctly, but there is nothing I can do about that. Anyway, I am grateful that I will receive a certificate at level B2

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1

      Hi, it really depends where you are now and what your strengths/weaknesses are. You can prepare for reading, listening and use of English yourself if you know what to do, but for writing/speaking you need some kind of feedback. We do offer online classes which you can do from home (www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/book-classes). My advice would be to take a practice exam (there are sample tests here www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams/advanced/preparation/) and check your scores so that you know where you are now. This will give you a better idea of what you need to do.

    Should not you say which pictures you are going to talk about(it is usually 3 to choose from and compare) you also say this picture and the other picture how on earth the examiner is supposed to know which one you are talking about?

    Hello!
    I can't see videos for C2 advanced Speaking exam. Is that because the candidates are preparing for CPE, because they are about to reach the proficiency level, there's no need to make videos for this level, is there?

    hello. I have a little question. Is it correct to say "I work IN a multinational company"? I've always thought the correct preposition was FOR or AT

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1

      Hi Maciej. Yes, you can say 'in' depending on your meaning. We actually have a lesson on this topic if you'd like to review. You can watch it here: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/prepositions-at-on-in, www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/prepositions-to-in-at.

    I have a question that perhaps isn't related to the this video, but I don't know where else to ask than on RUclips. Let's say I get a score of 175 for speaking, but my overall average score is over 180. Do I still get the CAE certificate (C1) or do the individual partial scores matter?

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1
      @Oxfordonlineenglish1  5 лет назад

      Thanks for watching! For this question, it's good to look on the official website to see what the current requirements are: www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams-and-tests/advanced/results/.

    Hi! A friend of mine(who is really anxious right now) has just taken the CAE exam and in Part 4, there was an idiom "in favour of" she had to use. Do you believe that if she wrote "in the favour of" she'll receive 1 point only ? or "in the favour of" si accepted too? Thank you!!

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1
      @Oxfordonlineenglish1  4 года назад +2

      Hi Georgiana. It depends on the question and the context. Usually, the correct phrase is something like: 'I'm in favour of this decision,' without 'the'. I can't say how many points she would lose, but 'In favour of' is the correct usage.

      If it's part of your natural speech, and it's not overused, yes you can use those. If used correctly, these types of phrases can show a good level of fluency.
