This was such a good episode! The mistakes can haunt you but you can also learn so much from every moment. The woodsmanship aspect is SOOOO appreciated! Thank you both!
He talks about letting gun pressure push bucks into certain areas, letting those areas rest, then going in late season to hunt them there. I do the exact same thing if needed. I very rarely enter the woods at all during the gun season, instead, choosing to stay out, and monitor where the pressure is the greatest at. I let cameras run all gun season, then right when gun ends, I'll check the easiest to check cameras, and see what's moved into the lowest pressured / no pressured areas. I'm doing the exact same thing this year. I'm hoping to kill my target buck tomorrow eve, a buck gun hunters have pressured into a very specific location. This was a good, informative video!!
I’d love to see Aaron from Do It Yourself Hunter on the podcast, those guys have a great message and do it all on public! They killed 5 or 6 big bucks already this year on their channel just the two of them
Just the medicine I needed in this podcast. I hunt traditional,in MI. Self imposed struggle coupled with MI pressure. From Southern Kent Co. to Claire and Oceola . Newaygo to Nordhouse. The real take away is be real with yourself, look at yourself objectively and always try harder. This season in kicking my ass. It has made me take a hard look at everything. As it should. Thank you Zack and Andy . I'm listening to this a drive through some of the best whitetail habit in MI. As I look off into the fields and into the ravines of Southern Barry Co. I just jave to remind myself there is still season left.
💯 on the concern of tech and the hunting culture. I feel we are losing focus and real skill set. We bow hunt because of the challenge, yet we put surveillance cameras up to make it easier. 🤔
I think I saw that video. The story was one guy running the drone and passing the info on to the hunter? I think Kansas is just the start with banning all trail cams on public land.
Interesting set up. We know Andy crushed this season. And this episode was record back in April. So we actually get to go back and here what led to another great season from Andy
“Follow your gut” What happens when you set up in a spot that your gut said was good, but after watching 4 deer use the same path 80 yards away your gut says “move over there” so you do. Then an hour later you see a shooter walk by the tree you just left. Screw my gut!
What do you do with a good friend that just has a down depressed & bad taste in his mouth its getting bad . We don't have good bucks this year . I'm meat hunting from here on out .. 😊

Great episode! We enjoyed having Zach on HuntBetter a few weeks after this was recorded. Such a knowledgeable and all-around good dude.

Love all of these but LOVE the longer podcasts!!!
great ground hunting story from Andy....nothing gets your heart rate going like ground hunting
Couldn’t agree more! I think I remember my mistakes more than the high points!

Forget about cameras. People are using thermal drones to find bedded bucks
I have seen the recovering vids but not the hunting with them. Agreed non the less.
@@five9eightthere aren’t videos of that because it’s illegal. Even the drone deer recovery guy has a story about somebody telling him they did it.

@@five9eightno, people flat out finding bedded bucks and setting up on them.
And yea, I agree. Kansas is just the beginning.

Hell my book of mistakes would be much longer than my success stories! 😂😂😂
Great episode.
I’ve killed 6 times in 8 sits this year. One buck was 150.
I have 15 kills in 21 sits as some of you know. It’s all about the estrous dates.
At 45 min how far apart were the 3 drainage and how long were they?

What happened to your knee?
