  • In 2005, Nick Knight photographed the model Gemma Ward for W Magazine in a story titled Altered States. At a time when the fashion industry was reluctant to embrace the advancements of the internet and technology, Knight endeavoured to make a story of his own, with Kev Stenning scanning Ward in 3D.
In 2022, the SHOWstudio team resurrected the 3D scan from the archives, presented in this project as an interactive created by Daniel Brown. Laying dormant until now, footage from the shoot has been reworked by Rei Nadal to reveal a fashion film and accompanying process film detailing Knight's vision. Watch as Ward, and the creations she is cladded in by the likes of John Galliano for Christian Dior, and Alexander McQueen, transcend time and space into another dimension entirely.
Established in November 2000, SHOWstudio is an award-winning fashion website, founded and directed by Nick Knight, that has defined the manner in which fashion is presented via the Internet. A pioneer of fashion film and live fashion broadcasting, SHOWstudio is now recognised as the leading force behind these mediums, offering a unique platform to nurture and encourage fashion to engage with moving image in the digital age. In its documentation of fashion and the arts, SHOWstudio has collaborated with pop culture icons and creatives including Lady Gaga, John Galliano, Kate Moss, Alexander McQueen, Tracey Emin, Shayne Oliver, Matthew Williams, Kanye West, Gareth Pugh and many more.

I wonder if anyone remembers Thierry Mugler's experiments
with digital models catwalking, back in the 1990s.

@@Thatzswaginboy215 It was not a full show but what I saw was a clip of a female figure catwalking. I think, the plan was to eventually create a full show presented in digital form. There was no metaverse at the time. I saw the clip again in one of Mugler's tribute videos after his death but though I just searched, I could not find it. It's on utube for sure. I'm sorry I cannot help further.
