You should do a road to Cannes series where you watch (or rewatch) some of the directors’ movies that will be at Cannes and review their movies or do a special video
As a Norwegian, I am happy that this is the 2nd time in a row we're represented in the Cannes lineup. (Last year with "The Worst Person in the World" (Competition) and "The Innocents" (Un Certain Regard)). Now it's Kristoffer Borgli's newest film in Un Certain Regard. His movies are quite uncomfortable and odd, but I like his style. He has some short films on RUclips on his own channel you can check out to get a feel of his style.
Yes - definitely watch Border, it's great. Also One Cut of the Dead is a fun watch. I need to see Beyond the Hills and more Claire Denis beyond the two films you mentioned. Looking forward to more Cronenberg in the world for sure.
Also try to watch A Man Called Ove - it's a role much more like Jack Nicholson's character in As Good As It Gets than what Tom Hanks was doing with Mr Rogers.
Nice to see the first ever Flemish movie in actual competition with Lukas Dhont's Close. Usually only the french speaking part of Belgium gets nominated.
Great lineup...Must see's ...Ruben Ostlund'sTriangle of Sadness, Ali Abassi's Holy Spider (Border is amazing), James Gray's Armageddon Time and Quentin Dupieux's Fumer Tousser ( bonkers French guy who gave us Rubber, Wrong and Mandibles). And of course Cronenberg's return is just an event.
You should check out Hlynur Pálmasons Godland, he’s proven himself to be one of my countries most talented directors with his excellent A White, White Day (which also premiered at Cannes) and his recent short film Nest which premiered at Berlinale. I’m really curious to see this new film as it’s a rare period piece shot on film (two things which my countrymen seem to generally shy heavily away from)
Hope you can make time in your schedule to watch 3x Oscar nominated director Rachid Bouchareb's 'Nos Frangins' in Cannes Premiere (I believe this is going to be Algeria's Oscar submission)
2021- drive my car 2020- another round 2019- parasite 2018- shoplifters 2017- the square 2016- the salesman 2015- son of Saul 2014- Timbuktu 2013- the hunt 2012- amour 2011- footnote 2010- biutiful 2009-the white ribbon 2008- waltz with bashir 2007- no country for old men 2006- days of glory
i have a feeling the secret film that is going to premiere at cannes is Steven Spielberg's The Fablemans, in which david lynch was also reported to be starring in...
Just something, you say other Hazanavicius’s work hasn’t excited the audience very well. Actually his OSS 117 saga with Jean Dujardin is probably the most liked french comedy of his decade. Like every one In the all country knows the lines by heart, it’s a really big thing (and Le Redoutable was great but I’m the only one who think that so fuck)
Young Ahmed actually won Best Director in 2019. What a misjudgment from the jury that otherwise made good decisions. Portrait of a Lady on Fire should have won Best Director.
Cannes 2022 line up films might be buzz at the Oscars 2023 Broker Desicion To Leave Elvis Showing Up Sister And Brother Three Thousand Years Of Longing Armageddon Time Beast Final Cut (Z, Comme Z) Hunt A Stars At Noon Jerry Lee Lewis [docu] Crimes Of The Future Triangle Of Sadness
Very excited for BROKER - Hirokazu Koreeda. Fighting!! IU (Lee Ji Eun) Debut at Cannes.. You can check trailer ruclips.net/video/NoWryyuj4Hg/видео.html
Be sure to check out "Joyland" in Un Certain Regard. It is the first Pakistani feature film to ever premiere at Cannes. The director made a short film which won an award at Venice a few years back. You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/klhc8G2vhu0/видео.html
I know that George Miller didn't want to compete in the Main Competition with Mad Max seven years ago. This time, he probably also decided to show his film out of competition.

A maps to the stars review would be perfect
Oscar Nominations Announced: 😞
Cannes Film Lineup Announced: 🤩
Crimes of the Future looks incredible!!!! And what a great cast! Lea, Viggo, and Kristen! And Cronenberg is a legend.
Super excited for Decision To Leave and Broker
Kelly Reichardt, Park Chan-wook and Hirokazu Kore-eda LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!
Man, no matter what the movie I just can't get into Kelly Reichert!
First cow was the first time I thought one of her movies was just okay.
🤷♂️
@@travisspazz1624 Your loss, I guess. IMO she's one of the greatest, most consistent American directors of the last 30 years

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye out for that one too!
"The Worst Person in the World" was great, and Haaland is also very good lol
You haven't seen One Cut of the Dead?? You need to watch it! It's SO good
Fremaux says there is room for about 10 new films in these sections so worth noting this isn’t the complete lineup.
What do you guys think is the front runner for the Palm D'or?
Also Director’s Fortnight has not been fully announced yet

Koreeda new movie looks like it's going to be amazing
I'm so excited for Broker and Leila's brothers I'm sure they're gonna be great the actors are sooo good

OMG I was waiting for your response video the whole day
Can't wait for Top Gun Maverick! The first one was awesome and the new one looks amazing too!❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Excited for the Cronenberg double feature this year 😁
So excited for Koreeda's movie. The second Palm D'Or is coming?

Ali Abbasi’s ‘Border’ is really great!! Major recommendation, I’m incredibly interested to see Holy Spider
I'm hearing theories that "Three Thousand Years of Longing" is being premiered OOC because Tilda Swinton might be the jury president.
Wow I’m excited to see who it’s gonna be. Penelope Cruz and Ashgar Farhardi have also been mentioned.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSS! CANNES, LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I waited one year and a half for this announcement…I’ve never been happier with this line up lol
Go..Go..Go.. “Broker” by Horikazu Kore-Eda and Lee Ji Eiun “IU” really talented as a K-pop Singer or actress.. Really can’t wait for It💜💙

4:23 Just a heads up, "Travail" in French is pronounced "Trav-eye" 😂
Armageddon Time looks like something an Oscars would like + the casts are oscars magnet too
Agreed! Very interested to see Jeremy Strong’s performance
When he asks a question we can actually answer 😮
I feel like for a second there you wanted to say "with brotherbro"
Hope you can make time in your schedule to watch 3x Oscar nominated director Rachid Bouchareb's 'Nos Frangins' in Cannes Premiere (I believe this is going to be Algeria's Oscar submission)
Cinema is back!
I envy these brothers…
are you also going to Venice this year?
I Hope you're going with brother bro
if you haven’t already do you have a video explaining how one gets to attend Cannes or any of the film festivals for that matter.
You apply for press accreditation on their websites!
FUN FACT: The last time a Cannes Main Competition lineup did not yield an International Feature nominee or a Best Picture nominee is way back in 2005.
Oh wow! That's a very interesting stat. Thanks!
2021- drive my car
2020- another round
2019- parasite
2018- shoplifters

See you in Cannes ! ;)
I bet Lynch might still be there… I’ll admit defeat when the festival is over
They did say it was a SECRET film! Why would it be in the lineup if it’s secret? The battle is not over yet!
i have a feeling the secret film that is going to premiere at cannes is Steven Spielberg's The Fablemans, in which david lynch was also reported to be starring in...
Cannes does not really have a tradition of secret films. This is not Sundance.
Too many to name. I got lost going to Cannes by train & then a bus - but worth it beautiful city & amazing food.
The David Lynch film was just a rumor?? GET REALLL
I think you should watch november directed by cédric jimenez maybe one of the biggest french movies AT cannes this year
Why are Cannes organisers saying they are losing out on the Oscars race to Venice when they premiered Drive My Car literally last year?

I consciously said his work SINCE the artist hasn’t won people over because I know the OSS 117 stuff has its fans
@@TheOscarExpert Oh ok sorry
Who's that guy in the background of your selfie? Is he famous?
Leila’s brothers😍
Heads up for if you’re going to review Beau Travail - it’s pronounced “Boo Tra-Vy” not “Bow Tra-Veil”
Oh no, One Cut of the Dead is VERY GOOD, hate to know there will be a remake.
Who does everyone have winning?
J'ai l'impression que l'industrie du cinéma Coréen devient de plus en plus puissante à l'international
from 5:44 to 4:55 i play a role as a main character in that movie
Leila's brother might be a good one too
Why are you guys so rich who is your sponsor? 😂
Border was Oscar-nominated for Make Up. Some respect please 😬
WATCH ONE CUT OF THE DEAD RIGHT NOW
IU
People of Cannes will have to suffer the singer who contributed the least to KPop in the last 15 years.
2:05 It’s pronounced De-ple-shon.
Why did they get another Zombie comedy as opening film after The Dead Don’t Die in 2019 😭 Not exciting.
Annette was sooooo good last year
Young Ahmed actually won Best Director in 2019. What a misjudgment from the jury that otherwise made good decisions. Portrait of a Lady on Fire should have won Best Director.
Srsly? Love the older Dardenne movies but that one was just meh. I'm really surprised right now. XD
The opening Movie is disappointing compared to last year Annette
Man is going to Cannes but skipping the most exciting movie. Top gun 2 is the one.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡
Top Gun 2 is gonna sweep all the Oscars!!
Agreed. All the others are some boring Award bait movies.
@@samuelblachon95130 What's so funny?

No blonde :(
Blonde is a Netflix movie
Netflix is salty they are not allowed to be in competition anymore so they don’t send any films to Cannes anymore by default.
@@pb.j.1753 well I just knew there was some agreement with Andrew Dominik and Cannes but I guess Netflix has the final say
Netflix didn't submit any of their films to Cannes this year
