  • In this episode, Kettlebell Master of Sport, Mike Salemi (kettlebelllifestyle.com) shares with Justin how to do the perfect kettlebell press.
    Talking points:
    - Kettle bell overhead press
    - When you’re pressing
    - Press up and into the scapular plane
    - Lock out overhead
    - You have a whole working window
    - Extend your set by using the whole working window
    - Set in the rack
    - Take a nice stabilization breath
    - Not moving from the lower body
    - Squeezing the quads and the glutes
    - Little tension in the abs
    - Thumb angle 45 or straight back
    - Train through all ranges
    - High reps keep elbow pointed straight up and down
    - When you’re pressing set the shoulder down away from the ear
    - Push your body away from the kettle bell
    - Pull the kettlebell in the exact same line path
    - Long open neck position
    - Increase space in the shoulder joint
    - Safest position for the shoulder

Man I’ve had countless gym memberships, bought plenty of equipment for home gym and never once thought of the effectiveness of kettlebell training... I’m kicking myself in the ass right now cuz the only bells I can find are at Walmart and now I’m forced to wait for the re-up from major distributors to put my order in. I feel like after watching all this content I should have a good idea how to work with the bells. Doing plate swings and press until I get bells. Respect

Great video! I love all the anatomical cues you use. However, when i do these i notice a lot of pressure on my distal forearm from the weight of the KB resting on it, even when i keep my wrist straight. Do you have any pointers for how to reduce this?

Great video and info! but you can tell the camera guy that he doesn't have to "rush" in every time you do a demo. It's actually better to see a fuller view from a bit afar than right in his armpit with fast up and down panning.

If you are too far from centre line you will compromise your shoulder joint and be prone to injury
