Terrible winching practices here. Your gonna kill your self, your friend, the winch or the car. You should only winch 30 seconds at a time and the truck should be left running so you don’t kill your batteries or your winch
Not sure what you asking, how did I get the Pull Pal, out? When you pull it in, close to the end it partially comes out, you might be able to pull it out by hand, or use a shovel to get it out. It weight some 18 kg
Yes, if you can you should winch the car as close to the anchor as possible, it will lift it up from the ground, if you cannot, then you will need to dig
He could have spent the next 2 hours being stuck too trying to dig out the truck. It got him out and off he goes to enjoy the rest of his day. Meanwhile YOU would still be stuck. Gives you time to post snarky comments on RUclips though.
If you get the winch close enough to the anchor, it more or less pulls it out, as it pulls upwards, otherwise you need to do some digging and shoveling.

I am planning on making one of those for the dreaded surprises. However looking at where you got stuck in the sand my lockers front and rear will drive right up much steeper sand than that. You may want to stick to the mall parking lot without decent modification to the truck. Real off road in rough, deep, steep or fast is not cheap it is some $$ and skilled labor with race tech info or $$$$ from the right places to work well.
I have no $$$ to do $$$ modifications to my truck, and I did get stuck there on purpose, this was just to test the pull pall. I could have probably drive up there if I wanted to. I got double locks too , and pull pall saved my bacon during the off track solo crossing of Simpson Desert (when my lockers stopped working) - see for a glimse of that trip ruclips.net/video/ga3MAOk3n-g/видео.html (I am working on a full video). I would not do solo crossing without it, it is excellent recovery tool.
David Langthaler My mistake about you may want to stick to the mall lot. You are in OZ with a lot of off road there to do. We have quite a bit but I must go 1 1/2 hours to get to some decent stuff. I am in Southern Commiefornia. A Gen X beach local. You have some good waves there as well. No worries, I have to drive at least 2 hours to get to some decent 4 wheel drive stuff up in our mountains (I live in Melbourne), and nearest desert like country is good 7 hours drive. I would not dare to go that fast on a road like that in your video, too easy to hit a pot hole and break something (obviously I do not race). During the trip I did across Simpson desert, I was driving at the times doing 6-7 mph, and I still managed to brake my front strut and a rear shock. It was 900 km over 9 days, and I have not seen another human, so you want to take it easy making sure you make it out.
David Langthaler Yes I understand about the speed I have had a 4x4's lifted with ranchos. The full size Bronco I am in now is a long travel lift from desert race teams on KIng Shocks (a world of difference) and plated gusseted with everything. A new ford raptor has 13" front and 13.9" rear wheel travel. I am 18 and 20. That driving looks fast but in total control. Yes, I got too exited and forgot about the 30 seconds, but I have learned my lesson, and winching practices get better with practice.
