If you watch their major concert shows, you can see that they still use the skeleton outfits even now, but they only serve as ushers. Kobametal has his own special skeleton costume where the spine suddenly twists around to the back like it's been broken.

You really hit the nail on its head with this comment... "...there is no sexualization here and they were not pretending to be adults..." With Babymetal, I'm truly thankful that cute little girls were made as front acts for a heavy metal group without exploiting their sexuality. The girls were left to act exactly like their age and instead, the narrative was focused on how insanely talented the girls are, especially Su-metal, and how ungodly skilled musicians the supporting band was/is. Babymetal is so unique and refreshing in oh-so many ways.
