  • Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix should be the Day 1 starter for Sean Payton and the Broncos offense. Why is it important to dispel some of the false narratives surrounding Nix and his game and how did he showcase otherwise on tape? Plus, do the Broncos have enough pieces around Nix right now for him to have success early on?
Cody Roark and Sayre Bedinger share their Broncos analysis and more with Broncos Country.

I agree with you roark I've defended against haters using that information that Coach Payton stated as well as his interview with Colin herd talk about his 5 different offensive coordinators in his 5 seasons and still put numbers up and as well as Cris or Chris Sims interview with Bo showed his athletic abilities and his quick analysis of reading a defense while improvising

There are a lot of STUDS on the Roster besides the QB position. Our secondary can be sick and we already know we're gonna be nasty off the edges. Already STOKED for TC, good talent vs good talent. I don't know about anyone else but I never got better playing against mediocre or less than talent. These KATZ are gonna bring it in camp. Positions are on the line. Also Thank You CODY & SAYRE for your in depth coverage of the BRONCOS. On that note------ LET'S BO!!!

I have liked the Bo Nix pick for a long time!!! Have you watched the interview with Chris Simms before the draft, Bo really does know his stuff, quite impressive.
always figured it would be a while for the QB to develop, rookies never win...right?? (CJ Stroud excluded) But it looks like Payton and Peyton have other plans, and now you guys are really getting me juiced!!!
I like how Sean Peyton was talking about rookie QB'S and how important accuracy is. He was talking about how the long passes with no defence, it is easier to cover up inaccuracies, but the short passes really show the accuracy, especially when he outs it on the outside shoulder, away from the defense. After the workout SP got in his car and said he couldn't believe what he just saw!!!
    We got us a winner!!!
    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

Ideally, yes, Nix starting day 1 would be fantastic. However, if Nix is 2 or 3 weeks away from fully grasping the playbook and feeling comfortable in the offense (he’s super smart but the offense has been said to be a real challenge to learn), I’m okay with starting stidham for the first month or so, especially if you play some tough defenses that can rattle a rookie QB (Ravens, Steelers, chiefs, Jets, Browns, and Seahawks all on the schedule this year).

I think with Nix, it’s easy to perceive the slow white unathletic game manager who dinks and dunks and that’s it. Anyone who does the least amount of research knows that couldn’t be farther from the truth. He has a LOT of gunslinger in him but only uses it when the defense breaks down. I think a lot of people are going to be shocked.

  • @murdog5253

Broncos fans need to look at the data when it comes to success of QBs that start right off...it's not good. If you like Bo, you should want him to take some time to get up to NFL speed etc... Defenses are sooo much better than college. When he's ready he should play. not before then. Justin Fields was destroyed in Chicago, ZW was destroyed in New York, and the list goes on and on... Give Bo time to get ready.

  • @user-zr4km5ns8t

A no-brainer that NIx should start? No competition? Just start him?
No. None of your arguments convince me of this. I'm surprised you guys are buying into it.
Patrick Mahomes had to sit for a year, but Bo Nix will be ready to start day one? Really??? Based on what? Big stats? Being married? Being respected by his college teammates? Are you serious? Those things are not going to help him read NFL defenses in less than 2.5 seconds. Last time I heard this kind of talk, John Elway was saying it about Paxton Lynch 3 days after the 2017 draft. The media picked up on it immediately, & the insanely jacked up expectations created the pressure that destroyed the guy's career before he had any chance. Now it's happening again. Sean Payton did not say that NIx was going to be ready to start as a rookie. Please produce the link to video in which you found this.
Oregon's offense was designed to isolate speed in one-on-one matchups, especially to stretch the defense horizontally & take advantage of the wider college hash marks. That is NOT what he will see in the NFL. When utilized by a team with a superior talent advantage, it produces video game numbers. Did you notice what this kind of offense did for Tennessee's Hendon Hooker? He threw 58 TDs & only 5 INTs. Hooker is virtually a mirror image of Nix, but he is on the bench learning behind Jared Goef where he belongs. Combined with no huddle/hurry up concepts that disadvantaged defenses & prevented them from substituting, this kind of offense Oregon ran is very poor in terms of its preparation for the NFL. Jarrett Stidham played in this same offense for two years at Auburn. When he got to the NFL Jordan Palmer, who coached Stidham as well as several other QBs including Joe Burrow & Josh Allen, said that he had almost never seen a college QB less prepared for the NFL by what he learned in college. So Stidham sat...in the best QB room in the NFL...for 3 seasons...before Sean Payton decided he was worth signing.
Why would Nix be able to start as a rookie when he spent 4 of his 5 years in the same system that was virtually worthless for Stidham? Dig into Kenny Dillingham's offensive system. Nix followed him to Oregon from Auburn after he spent one season in an offense less favorable to the QB, one installed by Boise State's Bryan Harsin in 2021. Nix struggled in the system that demanded more complex reads & NFL passing sets to the point that he was benched for a while. On the way out the door heading to Dillingham's offense, he described that experience in a system the expected more of him as "a nightmare".
Bo Nix is quite likely going to be less ready to start in the NFL as a rookie than Jarrett Stidham or even Zach Wilson. If in fact he does start, he will likely struggle just as he did at Auburn for Harsin. When that happens, this entitled fan base will turn on him as they have on every other QB this team has not named Elway or Manning.

@@LockedOnBroncos I didn't hear him say that on the Pat McAfree show so if you can link to the video clip that would be great. As for what he said to you in private, that's a claim that is justifiably entitled to be viewed with some exceptional levels of skepticism. Media people have adopted this weird thing now that journalism never accepted in the past, the "take my word for it" sources which are often anonymous or even when they're not...impossible to verify.
I have a very hard time believing that Payton is simply going to hand the starting job to a rookie. He comes from the Bill Parcels old school of coaching where players EARN the right to start. What kind of example would it set for the rest of this team if a kid who has never thrown a single pass in the NFL does not have to do what every other player on the roster does...fight for their job???
As for Mahome & Alex Smith...so what? He has Pete Carmichael, the guy who taught Drew Brees for 17 years...and BTW...Brees had to sit for a year also. In fact he sucked for 3 years & rang up 30 starts before he turned the corner to become a good NFL QB. Payton signed Carmichael when he went & got Brees. Maybe did so again back in February because he thinks Pete has something to teach this kid also?
But according to you guys...he already knows it all because he's married, played an extra year in college & had the respect of his former teammates...plus Sean slipped you the inside info in private.
Please explain why on earth Sean Payton, who has always had a healthy aversion to starting rookie QBs, would suddenly go back on what he's always done & decide to not only start a rookie without even making him earn the job, but hand it to one who came from the college spread with little to do with the NFL game, but he's also be telling podcast guys in private what his plans are.
Link to that stuff he said to McAfee please.
One last thing...who am I speaking to here? Cody? Sayre? An intern in charge of content creation on RUclips? Your @LockedOnBroncos tag does not identify who is responding, which mean you're not putting your own name behind these comments.
