Who would've thought that an alternative to soundbars would be ACTUAL SPEAKERS!!!
What a world we live in!!
LOL i never ever consider soundbars, owned some of them. The gimmick of sound bouncing of the sides and ceilings are such a gimmick and will never match up with actual satellite speakers. People nowadays rather sacrifice audio quality and experience for stupid soundbars for convenience and minimalistic
@@EternalShana Yes, crazy I know, some people(most) don't want actual speaker boxes all over the place with wires and all. The vast majority of people want something that looks nice, sounds nice and is clean. The latest Samsungs like the Q930b or Q990b are amazingly capable and more than adequate for the population at large.
What a time to be alive!
@@EternalShana Convenience is worth way more to me than a minor increase in sound quality
Amazing.
I'm happy to see SVS still making good stuff. I bought one of the first subwoofers they made, back in the early 2000's. The cylinder subs that looked like a water heater and used a separate amp (not built into the sub). That thing was a beast, used it in my home theater for many years.
Glad to see SVS is still going strong. I have an SB13-ultra that’s going on 10 years now and still hitting hard.
A lot of audiophile channels have popped up recently, some of them are really good too. But Caleb here is showing why heis the king of audio/video reviews. Take lessons people. Prefect reviews. Congrats on 1 mil subs, such a good channel.
Great review on these. I have the B&W S2 Anniversary 606s running into a Sonos Amp on my console gaming setup in my bedroom. Best possible setup to game, movie watch and of course music. But, using the Sonos app can connect to many other rooms and run it all from cell phone, alexa, etc. these look sweet! I actually really like that front display, it does take a way from symmetry and the clean look, but I like the vibes it gives off.
Sonos amp is way under powered. Use a small audiocontrol amp and use the preout on the sonos.
Shoutout to Caleb! Your videos is always a highlight of my RUclips week
Klipsch has been making essentially the same thing for years. They're called "The Fives" and are fantastic.
Another great review, thanks Caleb! I'm loving these speakers. I actually rock The Fives with my Sony A80J and I love them. A comparison with those and this SVS system could be interesting!
Thank you for the amazing review, Caleb!
I usually come to your chanel when im interested in buy something hoping that you have done a review for that product..love it thx
You're absolutely right on the face controls, they make sense on a studio monitor but not for a living room setup. I would've put the display on the top for bettter ergonomics, you're most likey to be stood above the speaker when you make adjustments in that scenario and obviously the asthetics would have been better too
⬆️⬆️⬆️congratulations,You've win a price dm to claim your package
All of your content gets me excited 😁
Lol at having swirling atmos surround before passing out for the night. Can’t wait to have a set up like that one day.
5K subs from 1 Mil now, well done! 👍
Thanks for a thorough review Caleb. This looks like just what I need for my living room where I have a small area for speakers so this would fit just right. While its nice to have the Play-Fi streaming option, with the HDMI input I can also use the Tidal app on my Samsung TV so we can keep using the TV remove for tv, movies, RUclips and Tidal music. With that kind of convenience, my wife will buy into this,

I've been using Audioengine A5+ speakers in my apartment for big sound with a small footprint and I can't recommend this setup enough. Plugged in to a Mac Mini via a quality DAC, it's more quality than you could possibly imagine at the price.
Nice review.
Any chance you will review the SVS Prime wireless Pro soundbase?
I love it I have a full svs system and I absolutely love it
I agree with you re not liking the display and controls on the front, it makes the right speaker look cluttered and it bugs me quite a bit that the left and right speakers look different! For that reason I also agree with your regrets about not going for black. At least in black the display and controls wouldn't be quite as obvious.
Maybe SVS could actually fix this by offering an alternative right speaker grill as an optional accessory that obviously would have the same fixing points as the standard one but the grill frame and fabric would go all the way down to the bottom of the cabinet instead of stopping just above the display. As long as the knobs on the rotary buttons can be pulled off then it should hide the display and controls at the bottom completely and make them look like "normal" speakers.

I wish i had know about this product 2 months ago. I have been searching for a speaker then that had both HDMI eARC and Airplay 2 built in. I bought a Klipsch The Fives for my living room TV and wanted something like this for my bedroom. I now have two speakers from Klipsch, R41M and R41PM with former attached to a TV while latter is attached to a Airplay receiver. This could have saved a lot of clutter. But I enjoy the klipsch sound and even with two product, they are cheaper than SVS Prime Wireless pro in Canada. Oh well.
I've been running these with SVS' SB1000 sub since shortly after launch and they really do sound fantastic. They've rolled the very high end off slightly versus the previous model, which is a good thing as you still get the detail without any harshness. And the bass response is outstanding on its own, but paired with a decent sub, these things rival my towers in the other room. I actually quite like the display on the front, but specifically the hard buttons for presets were a huge upgrade over the previous version.
Would you please comment on 'speech intelligibility' with these when watching TV or movies?
@@MFHRaptor I haven't had any issues.
These require a powered Sub correct? Thanks!
@@davefiano4172 I wouldn't say you NEED a sub with them. They are solid down in the 40-50Hz region for music and would work great on their own. But adding a good sub definitely brings them up a notch.
@@TheReverendSlim Thanks again 👍
Caleb, how would you feel about these being used for a PC Speaker System setup? I am looking at this, the KEF LSX, and passive speakers like Bowers or MartinLogan, but I just can't seem to find a best bang for the buck. This SVS Powered pair seems to be the win-win though.
You deserve every single one of the nearly 1 million followers Caleb ! I love your videos and appreciate the hard work you put in.
And also i would love to see more Videos about speakers like this one.
Caleb great job again, I am surprised you 😢speak sad on the best speakers (price-performance) PC speakers. I think you should look at the best 2.0-5.1 pc speaker’s from the likes of Altec Lansing, Logitech, Alienware, Bose, Creative Sound Blaster, Cambridge SoundWorks. They pump some great ranges for the cost and only 10% of people would not go for these after a sound test. You’re welcome for the next throwback episode idea for a 2 part micro series. 😊
Please do a holiday sound bar buying guide. black friday.. and I need a cheap 2.1 setup. My vizio from 5 years ago quit working.
due to this exact limitation I dream of an opportunity to use sonos soundbar (as center channel) with sonos 5 as left and right channel
Nice, try out the Audio Pro A38 or A48, impressed myself.
the front speaker controls should just be a separate box that you could place underneath a speaker OR flip around and face it backwards (for aesthetics) OR place someplace else like at the center, in a cabinet, etc. Basically, like a tiny AVR.
Thnx for the great review.
How does it work for movie dialogue without a centre channel ?
Thnx
I am building a house but can't wire for rear (ear level) speakers for 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos. I have 4 ceiling speakers already wired, but the layout doesn't allow for wired rear surround, so I want to get your opinion on a wireless rear speakers solution, and how to hook them up to say an RZ50 or Denon 3800. Love your channel as you have already solved some of my connection issues.
SVS makes some BANGIN' speakers. Linus' home theater setup is insane bang for the buck.
I replaced my Sonos Arc with Kilpsch the Fives.. best looking active powered bookshelf on the market. SVS sound great at the price point, but they look super 90's home theater. Klipsch nails the design and the functionality for me.
Love my Fives! I agree, I'd consider the SVS, but they don't nail either the retro look like the Fives, or the clean and modern look like Kantos or KEFs
Klipsch, beautiful design, got that sound separation. The saxophone is practically right there.
I agree. These look like they belong in the clearance section at Ross. The SVS woofies look pretty good IMO. They aren’t beautiful but among the other black cubes, the SVS stands out.
Newer Klipsch speakers look like the 60’s reincarnated-the height of cabinet quality. 90’s is prolly the worst era to emulate. I blame mass production and importation/the cost of shipping for the 30-60 year decline in quality.
My Sonos home theater system sounds amazing.
Is the Cinema 1200 okay nowadays. I remember you were saying it had alot if issues.
How about Audio Pro's A26 and A28? They have HDMI outputs as well.
Thanks for review
How about the PB-16 unboxing and review in the future from SVS?
I'm in love with your tv rack, where did you get it and how expensive is it?
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪! You should try the Brand Nubert XS Series! Have a look next time they have a big variety of wireless speakers even a soundbar called Nubert XS 8500. This is incredible! CU on your next Videos! Ciao Lars and a I like your Videos!
He kept saying SVS, i kept hearing SbS. And that reminded me of Creative speakers.
I can't decide between these and the HECATE Edifier G5000.
Which would you choose?
Hi Caleb, I know you mentioned LS50 in your video but do you think the LSXII is a better alternative to this SVS Prime?
Does this mean you like the system??? I'm a big SVS fan and have their Ultra Bookshelf L/C/R fronts, 4 Elevation surrounds, and 2 PB1000 subs. I'm not a fan of tower speakers with built in subs - having had a Definitive Tech 5 channel system and from day one never liked it. The other positive for SVS is their customer service and warranty. Both the best in the business in my opinion. Thanks for another great review.
Why didn’t you like the def tech towers with the built in subs?
I'm using Polk es35 center channel speaker as my right and left channel. Slim, shadow, with wide bandwidth. Two jbl 550p 10" subwoofers. Powered by smsl vmv a2. I want to replace my 550p with 3000 micros.
Does anyone know know if these speakers can do volume control via your TV remote like other arc soundsystems?
What would you recommend for an aux to Bluetooth
What about Dolby Atmos through your TV what is best for Music. ?
You gotta try the KEF LS 60 wireless speakers as well!
Why would they put an eARC port in it (label it ARC) if no eARC features are supported/needed?
Can you connect multiple svs wireless pro together?
These seem really good! I just dont like how you cant turn them off and the active speaker always needs to be on the right hand side.
Can speakers such as these be paired to a system running off of a denon s960h avr???
love soundbar simplicity. Vizio v21 works great for apartment living room. killer steal at $150
Yes, you were robbed and you take it as a win. What a killer steel 4sure. Nah I am just kidding. Horses for courses.
I have the V21 and would describe it as 'passible but muffled'. I feel like it was an acceptable deal on sale at Costco for $88.
So if I add these to my Sony X90J these will work together with my TV speakers?
Is the HDMI input eARC or ARC? The host commented it was the superior eARC, but the speaker is labeled ARC.
Can you also review offering from Yamaha brand? They are world leaders in musical instruments and lots of other yamaha audio devices
Need help finding a sound bar with a very low profile for LG CX OLED. Has to be 50mm max, but preferably lower. Anyone have a suggestion?
How does it compare to the Non-Pro version?
Because there is no PRO version available in my entire country!
How can two bookshelf speakers replace a sound bar. I cannot wallmount them under my tv. If I can still it’s not gonna sit flush on the wall.
Any chance of comparing the new the sevens to these?
I think since almost all of us have a good TV. A sound system is what I'm looking for
I think I'm happy with my Genelec G2 + F1 setup for computer.
⬆️⬆️⬆️congratulations,You've win a price dm to claim your package
Dynaudio XEO 10 these are my best speakers. Bass 40hz no subwoofer needed. Optical, bluetooth, aux, hi res audio. No cable between the speakers. Check them out People the sound is awsome. 2x130 wat rms. Build in amplifier. 💥💯💥
Audio Pro A36. HDMI, toslink, sub-out, Spotify, app for bass and treble adjustment and even metal remote. There is so much more solutions than these youtubers will ever admit.
it just looks too outstanding for my taste
so would you say these would be good for TV....movies / everyday TV / sports etc....with or with out a sub ? thx cheers
wow, you are right they are almost a mirror image to my fives. only thing is woofer is 5.5 vs my 4.5 on fives. i use a rel sub and it is a killer for movies and good music listening. NBR hifix audio listening really comes across on these systems.
Blue tooth works cool with my iwatch. not your grandpas music anymore lol
I always enjoy your videos and this one is no exception, but I shudder at $1000 (without sub). Is there a powered speaker at less than $300 (with or without sub) available for us non-audiophiles? If so, one of your critiques would be appreciated.
Highly recommend the iLoud Micro Monitors. You can get a pair for dirt cheap (around 250 a pair) and they are amazing for their size. Been using a pair with a tv in many living rooms and it keeps shocking people how great they are. Huge vouch.
@@strangeholder Thanks for this suggestion. I'm ordering a pair to check them out.
I love these videos
It would be nice if they ever came out with a center channel for this.
Please review Martin Logan Neolith Speakers
I'm looking for a pair studio monitors with neutrality with no dsp at all or a pair of studio monitors that have the same sound signature as my 1997 sennheiser hd 600 headphones, I use the sennheiser hd 600 as my daily driver even when I'm gaming. I have the harmon kardon sb16 soundbar but I'm looking to upgrade to a pair of studio monitors. I have the harmon kardon subwoofer set to flat and on my 65 inch curve qled TV from samsung and I have the audio to pcm.
These or a set of used SVS Ultra Bookshelves and a Denon 760H AVR?
The bookshelf and the denon with out a doubt
I really like the looks of those, but I bought myself one of those sweaters instead. 🙂
Wonder how these would compare to the Edifier S3000 pro's which are much cheaper.
⬆️⬆️⬆️congratulations,You've win a price dm to claim your package
Early congratulations 👏. Soon one million subscribers. Wow
🎉
I like the display ALOT
Does it have HDMI out?
My stupid projector doesn't have HDMI ARC, so I connect apple tv to my soundbar and out to the projector from there
@@mezzb I bought an AVStar 1x2 splitter and it didn’t work. Which one did you have?
These look similar to the satellites. Are they better or about the same.
As I've asked many months ago, will the 1 Million subs giveaway be North America only or World Wide?
The cable linking the speakers should have had a more generic connector. SVS should make a marine version of this set. Perfect for outside use and in bathrooms, saunas etc etc.
You say "eARC" but the speaker says "ARC". Which is it?
I would have liked it better if you had played tracks from different genres and let us judge the output. After all it's a audio device review.😀
No mention of sennheiser ambeo? Isn’t that the king of the soundbars
Wondering if it's worth the upgrade from the Fives
⬆️⬆️⬆️congratulations,You've win a price dm to claim your package
With these be good as studio monitor speakers?
Yamaha HS8 and don't look back... If you have a smaller space for your studio HS5 will be a better fit. Find a Sam Ash in your area and go listen before you buy.
all the options to play multiple sources of Audio is never good for studio monitors as they will introduce interference as static noise that will drive you crazy.
But how dose scarlett fire sound on them is the real question
How is SPEECH INTELLIGIBILITY when watching movies and TV shows?
I had the Onkyo HT-S9800THX. It was rather nice HTIB for the price I paid for.
⬆️⬆️⬆️congratulations,You've win a price dm to claim your package
for use for TV speakers for movies and sports and everyday TV which would you recommend of the following and why ? thx
Edifier S2000MKiii
Edifier S3000Pro
Edifier R2850DB + Sub
Klipsch THE FIVES + Sub
SVS Prime Wireless Pro
Fluance powered towers Ai81's + Sub
order of which you would choose please...thank you in advance...cheers from Canada
Any chance they can make it less ugly?
Why do the Klipsch products you have, have dodgy fabric finish quality. Are they like that typically, or just something happened through your ownership?
what about for Heavy Metal and Rock Music?
Keith Moon
In terms of sound quality, how would you compare these to a stereo pair of the new Sonos Fives for roughly $150 more? I realize these have a leg-up for being able to add any sub + variety of inputs, but wondering if the ability to place Sonos Fives anywhere (in the same room or not) gives them a leg up.
These active speakers don’t have shit on Sonos.
@@P2Feener305 As in the Sonos Fives are better? Even thought they don't have as much range?
Sonos is better in more ways than one. You get much more music services to choose from and you also have the ability to expand to other parts of your home with other options Sonos has. These things can only serve as book shelf’s speakers, personally if I was looking for a powered speaker to watch tv and movies I’d rather have a lcr bar that I can later add rears and a sub to. I would only use stereo for listen to music, in my opinion there are better speakers for stereo listening.
Compare those against 2x Sonos Fives please. Please make that happen.. :)
So curious about this comparison too!
What's the price??
Guys i have question for you i buy xiaomi soundbar and try connect with hdmi arc.but i dont have sound only works with optical kabel..Do you know what can i do to fix that?
The very old hdmi cables won't pass arc and you have to make sure your TV has the arc labeling if so makes sure cec is turned on tv speakers off surround mode on some tvs will have you manually select it if it's a Samsung tv they are very picky they do what Apple do and make it hard to work with other equipment samsung sound bars work flawlessly with samsung tvs but a non samsung sound bar and the tv wont want to turn it on automatically leaving it in standby mode I think sony is the same way
@@bumkrilla5339 I have Hisense tv with support arc and xiaomi new 3.1ch model have arc i got hdmi cabel from xiaomi hdmi higs speed cable with ethernet label on cable..works on optical but someone say that dts virtual x dont work with optical is that true?thanks for answer
@@lukaserdar4465 I belive dtsx only works with earc and if not earc then you would need a separate reciver but no optical doesn't have the highest res audio formats
I think these speakers are meant more for PC use given the knobs and buttons on them, which is one reason why I disagree that these would replace a speaker bar. The other reason is you forgot to mention the other alternative - powered XLR studio monitors.
I actually sit in front of a 38 inch 21:9 display so a smaller sound bar could definitely work as a PC speaker for me. But I'm finicky about my sound which is why I use the optical connection from my mobo connected to a TEAC UD-503 DAC that sits underneath my monitor. I could definitely connect XLR speakers to these and have the same sound found in a recording studio, but at the moment I'm using a pair of Creative 2.0 desktop speakers, albeit very good ones 😎
The other reason I keep the DAC under the monitor in front of me is the headphone jack placement. I still rock my Sony XB-700 cans and they don't have an incredibly long cable on them, and it's the same with a lot of other audiophile headphones too. If your desktop is indeed under the desk or just don't want to deal with wireless headphones that becomes a huge issue. Fortunately for me having the headphone jack right under my nose makes headphone listening simple. I also enjoy the precise/smoother movement of a larger volume dial right in front of me and exact dB volume display - nice for when you want to just nail in your sound or switch to a louder source.
Pretty sure the next upgrade for me will be a pair of powered XLR monitors to flank my 38 inch display, but I will then be shopping for a bigger desk LOL
Adding this to my darn collection of Sonos + Anthony galo + a/d/s old towers my dad left me. Great i need help, cause i been wasting too much on speakers and headphones.
For the price of Klipschs the fives, you can get bookshelf speakers and a receiver so why bother?
