    Thank you so much, i'm dealing with this things only for a few days but is really annoying. The problem was that i did some patterns without the square and the lines appeared in some places in the .jpg/.png, i thought i'm going to loose my patterns but there is always a solution, today you were mine, thank you so much!

    brilliant! your video is amazing ! so well explained - through half of it ..
    when printing - do you know if printing to a PDF - as opposed to printing to a physical printer will be a good test for white lines
    reason: printer toner gets spendy ;)

      Thank you so much!!! I’m so glad you’re finding the video easy to understand. I haven’t tried printing to PDF. I know in theory it’s supposed reflect what you would see in an actual printout. But since I haven’t used it I can’t really vouch for this method- sorry. I know- printing can be expensive. The times when I would most recommend the printout method are when: A. You are actually selling the print file to someone or B. Your print file is going to a factory or print house to be used for real life production purposes. This is when I’m super cautious and use the printout method. Other times, like if your print is just for presentation purposes, etc. you can use the 1st method in the video (the zoom in method) and it should be fine.

It’s called: How To Select Objects of the Same Fill Color (3 Fast Methods): ruclips.net/video/fWHqmj-dEcg/видео.html

    Thank you! So well explained👍I tried Art Optimised for JPG and lines gone, but what about if we need Vector format ? Im stuck on this "lines problem" cause I dont know how to send my work to the client if they need Vector format not JPG.

    • @rebeccaartistryfashiondesign
      @rebeccaartistryfashiondesign  Год назад +1

      Great- you're welcome! I'm glad you were able to find a solution for your Jpeg!
      - For vector format, this would be what I'm explaining in the first half of the video. From the beginning of the video up to minute 4:50.
      - You have to do the testing that I explain. Make sure you check thoroughly. If the tests show that it's the Illustrator bug, try the settings change that I show at 2:18, or even the trick I show at 4:28. If the lines are still on your vector file, then there's nothing that can be done, and you just have to send your file to the client this way.
      - Save as an AI file which is a vector file, and send it to them.
      - If they ask about the lines, you can explain to them that it's a glitch that Illustrator has but you have tested it and the lines aren't really there. Since you resolved the issue on the jpeg, then ALSO send them the jpeg so they can at least have a version of the file where the lines aren't showing up.
      - If the tests show that it's an error in your repeat, then you have to make sure to fix it. You can check for errors the way that I explain in this part of the video. After fixing it, the lines should be gone and you can save as an AI file and send to your client.

      @@rebeccaartistryfashiondesign Dear Rebecca, thank you for your response. But I have another question for you. Maybe you know the answer too. What If the client asks for the object with the exact size on the seamless pattern? For example, someone wants fabric with big 2 inches of Roses. I know that I can scale my pattern, but how can I make the exact size of the pattern elements?
      I guess I need to do some math, but what is a formula?. Thank you very much for any help!💗

    • @rebeccaartistryfashiondesign
      @rebeccaartistryfashiondesign  Год назад

      You're welcome. Great question! So to scale the pattern elements to a specific size you will have to scale those elements individually on your workable repeat tile.
      In your example, if the client wants roses that are 2 inches, you would select the rose, go up to the Control Panel, and next to W: type "2 in" to make the width 2 inches, and next to H: type in "2 in" to make the height 2 inches. Click on your page and you will see your rose become 2 inches by 2 inches. Then you can copy and use this 2 inch rose throughout your pattern, and arrange your repeat.
      - If you don't see W: and H: in the control panel, click on the word "Transform" in the control panel to pull this up OR in the top menu go to Window/ Transform and there you will see W: and H:
      - Notice that there is a little link symbol next to W and H. If it's linked, the rose will change proportionately with the latest measurement that you type in to either of the boxes. If you click the link to unlink it, you will be able to change either W or H measurement without affecting the other. You'll see what I mean when you try it.
      - If you already had other roses on your pattern tile, then you can change them each to 2 inches one at a time- as you did with the first one, OR you can delete them and copy the first 2 inch rose that you made and put the copies in their place.
      - Does this answer your question ? Let me know if I understood correctly- I think that's what you were asking. Thanks!
