Thanks for the video. This is so frustrating. I am an avid Photoshop user trying to learn to create vector patterns in Illustrator and whenever I run into issues like this it just makes me want to pull my hair out and give up on Illustrator. Photoshop ruined me for Illustrator. I have no patience for the little quirks of Illustrator. Ok...Rant over!
I am exactly the same! Illustrator was where I learned how to make patterns, and I put off using Ps for so long because I thought it was more complicated, but I was so wrong!! I love using Ps! (Although I have recently been experimenting with Affinity Photo and I'm liking that too!)
I use the file>export>export for screens option and save as a png. (After I’ve made sure my motifs and background all extend past the edges of the artboard!)

Would you know. by chance, how to fix this on a hex pattern in illustrator?
Thank you. This is definitely the most succinct explanation for this problem I’ve heard. 👏
Glad it was helpful! I was relieved to work out a real answer and get to the bottom of it!!

Thank you SO MUCH! 😅
Happy to help! It bugged me for years until I finally figured out the why!!
THANK YOU!! 🙂
You're welcome! ☺️
I can't believe they still haven't fix this. Also by the way, adding black backgrounds in photoshop can also fix the export. Maybe in illustrator too.
Could you cover how to save just the pattern tile?

Sorry, no! I’ve not used hex patterns in illustrator very much and I’ve only used them as fills, rather than exporting them.
