  • Four teenagers were detained over a fatal revenge attack in which a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death.
Kennie Carter died after being stabbed in the chest once in Stretford, Greater Manchester, on the evening of 22 January 2022.
His attackers were acting in revenge for an incident that occurred the day before the killing.
Following a trial at Manchester Crown Court, a 16-year-old boy, who was aged 14 at the time of the attack and cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted of murder.
The youth admitted he had delivered the fatal blow but said it was in self-defence.
He was sentenced to detention in a young offender institution - the juvenile equivalent of a life sentence - with a minimum term of 17 years.
Latif Ferguson, who is now 18 but was 15 at the time, and two other boys, now aged 16, were convicted of manslaughter for encouraging the attack.
Ferguson was sentenced to five years in a young offender institution, and two other 16-year-olds were sentenced to four years’ detention.
The jury found six others, now aged between 15 and 19, not guilty of manslaughter and murder.
The judge, Mr Justice Goose, said: "The stabbing occurred because of a perceived grievance between Kennie Carter and his associates and with the four of you.
"You were intent on causing Kennie Carter harm."
