    Perfect! I have a suggestion for the extra yarn you cut off....save it for darning the socks as they wear out! Oh by the way I LOVE your color choices! You guys are awesome!

    I'm a magic loop toe up sock knitter. To adapt it to this method all you do is use a ball winder and wind the yarn backwards.

      So am I, just keep in mind that doing this results in a long area of “toe” solid colour.
      To adjust for this you could do afterthought toes in the solid colour, or, allow identical lengths of solid colour for each toe and then cast on.
      For two at a time on magic loop just wind the ball in to two identical balls.

    If I knew how to put a picture of the socks I just made with my Pairfect, I would. Even while I knitted the socks, people commented on how beautiful they were looking! A boy who just finished 6th grade in USA is waiting to receive his birthday gift. The photo of the green and blue socks were sent to you via messenger. I used a super stretchy cast on and worked the heel as shown in the Arne and Carlos video on sock heels. Five more different skeins to knit!

    I’m a little bit lazy. I did long tail cast on, but for each sock I stated with my needle placed exactly where the yellow yarn meets the colorway. This created a yellow chain cast on and then two perfectly identical socks. They are a couple of years old by now and are hubby’s favorite winter socks. He wears out a pair of work boots in 6 months so when I say these wear well, believe me, they do!
    ETA: He wears a USA men’s size 12 shoe and I had yarn left over.

    I have watched this video 4 times and each time I still laugh at Arne watching you (Carlos) messing up the yarn from part of the toe that you didn’t use 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I watch this video as a refresher for using this pairfect yarn. I have several balls and after knitting a pair of socks, I go back to quilting. This is my go to video. Thank you 🧶🧶🇨🇦

    I just purchased 3 skeins of this yarn from our lovely little yarn shop (The Fiber House) in Sheridan, Wyoming, USA. Our town is relatively small so we are fortunate to have a source for beautiful yarn. They carry all of your colorways for this yarn and I loved them all. I appreciate that many are gender-neutral. Can't wait to get started knitting on them.

You make them very easy to understand. Although I have, like Arne, been taught by my gran many years ago to knit, I have never knitted socks before. I love this project so much they will not be my last. The colours are so beautiful too! X Angela

    Hi ya'll, from Arkansas, USA! Just purchased a skein of this yarn. Can't wait to use it. I'm fairly new at knitting (3 yrs). Will try Dpn's but may separate my yarn as you showed for the second sock and use the magic Loop method for 2 at a Time Socks. As I have made 2 pair before using this method. Don't think I'd like making one sock at time. I think it will work as long as I work them top-down. I wish they would work toe-up as I like trying them on as I go. By the way...love the feel of this yarn. Thank you.

    This is my favorite video, makes me smile 😊 every time. Still waiting for a pink and orange sock, green sprinkles as my niece calls them, and lastly purple as the fourth color. My pairfect sock. I know, my color combos are ridiculous, but that's me eclectic in every way. Even my cat is oddly colored. At first glance you think Siamese, but on closer inspection, you will see that her "dark" sections are actually calico. Her belly gives it away too.

    I'm starting to knit again after a 20 year break, and I struggled through a pair of socks using a cheap sock yarn (it split if you looked at it funny). This yarn on the other hand is very enjoyable to knit. It's very easy to keep at tension. It rarely splits, almost never really. It also knits really fast on carbon shaft dpn's. I love the pattern, and I love how easy this is to ues.

    On your link for the yarn all comments raved about the yarn, but the perfect sock was a problem was for those that needed smaller size. Then had some work and trial and err it sounds like to accomplish a perfect. One person stated that they have another favorite heel instead of a short row for her socks. My opinion is to put in a afterthought heel then and remove all the yarn for the heel and start the foot where it is suppose to start. Use another color for the heel. What do you think is the best way to solve these problems?

    Dear Arne and Carlos, thank you for inspiring podcast. Could you please suggest to SCM development of Pairfect? It would be nice if starting a ball from inside and outside would lead to similar socks using top - toe direction. This would be nice when you are applying the macig loop technic. A real customer need to solve should motive the engineers of SCM.

    Dear Arne and Carlos, thank you for showing how to work 2 identical socks with the amazing Pairfect yarn from Regia. I completely understand why I cannot knit one sock from the inside of the ball and the other sock from the outside of the ball if I want them to be identical and not reverse order. But my question is: what if I chose to start from the outside of the ball for the first sock and kept going from outside in to find the next leader yellow yarn to start the second sock (never changing the direction but starting from outside rather than inside). Would that give the intended effect? Or was the engineering of these skeins such that they were truly meant to be started from the inside?
    So glad you continue to make videos. It is a pleasure to see you both and enjoy your environment. Thanks for the bright spot in my days!

    • @ARNECARLOS
      @ARNECARLOS  7 лет назад

      xraymdabm Pairfect is constructed in such a way that it ONLY works when you pull the yarn from the inside of the ball. That goes for BOTH socks. There is no other way to do this.

    • @lynnann96

      I use Norwegian style cast on, also know as German twisted. Very Pink has a great video of it, listed as the German version, but if you google Norwegian, it's the same basically. VERY stretchy!!! So no sock lines at the end of the day.

    Hi, just discovered your channel and immediately subscribed to it. Love the wool and I am going to definitely order it. I have checked all the colours available. However, I am a bit confused...at what point does one start to knit the heel? How long does the cuff + leg have to be before knitting the heel? Worried if the leg is too long then I shall run off of wool...do I make sense?

    • @LibellulaGlass
      @LibellulaGlass 6 лет назад

      bubblyrv I am at just the same spot, when to start the heel. Looking at the picture on my wool it shows there is quite a large amount of the main colour around the heel area. So when the thin stripes finish I will start the heel. All the designs are different. I just wonder if there is enough for a heel that I knit with a gusset, or are they just designed for the German short row heels that Arne does in the video? I wonder.....?

  • @dinaboop
    @dinaboop 7 лет назад +2

    Arne, for the toe, you don't use ssk's? So if I make one where the only decreases are k1, k2together, the toe will still look nice?

    • @waiyisit
      @waiyisit 3 года назад

      You could replace one of the k2tog with a ssk for the mirrored decreases to ensure it looks nice. I think the order would be k1, ssk, knit to last 3 stitches before end of half the sock, k2tog, k.

      Nina Allen Hello Nina. That's not correct. Pairfect is well available throughout the USA. The only thing is that it hits the stores later than in Europe due to transportation. Also, in the case of Pairfect by ARNE&CARLOS, the first batch sold out in Europe, before it could be shipped to the USA. You should be able to get it now, just talk to your LYS that sells Regia or Rowan yarns as that's the same company. Or you can try online stores. This USA-based store seems to have the entire Pairfect by ARNE&CARLOS available as well as their other yarns: www.hotyarns.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Arne+%26a+Carlos

    I have very high insteps and short row heels just don't fit me. Won't I just get a different pattern if I make a flap and gusset heel?

    • @ARNECARLOS
      @ARNECARLOS  7 лет назад +3

      Sandeleh Francis No you won't. This is an engineered yarn, designed to work with any heel type you'll get the pattern regardless.

    What happens to the pattern if one knits a much smaller sock, 52 stitches?

  • @stephencomerford406

    I’m wondering if this sock yarn only works with casting on 64 stitches? I’m asking because, I normally cast on 68 stitches for my socks.

    • @ARNECARLOS

      It is designed to work with the pattern, we have not tried with 68 stitches. Just give it a go and see what happens

    I was wondering if you could knit this yarn 2 at a time toe up? Thanks

    • @those_eyes
      @those_eyes 5 лет назад

      No, this it yarn is specifically made to do ribbing first and toe last. The leg part of sock is identical to other size socks. The foot part of sock is longer for bigger footed people.
      If one does toe up, the yarn will not change color in the right places.

    Can you do a heel flap and gusset with this yarn?

  • @mikitta47
    @mikitta47 6 лет назад

    Interesting yarn and I'm considering getting a skein of this for a Christmas prezzy for someone. However, I hate starting at the top of the sock because it never fits right. I will if I have to, but I love toe up, 2 at a time :P
    Also, the person the present is for has a small foot (US size 6 or a little smaller) - shorter and narrower than the typical male foot. How does that affect the pattern distribution on the sock?
    Have you tried doing an afterthought heel using this yarn and if so, what were your results?

    • @ARNECARLOS
      @ARNECARLOS  6 лет назад +1

      Afterthough heel is possible, but there's no point, really as it means you have to unwind a lot of yarn... Better to do short row. As for sizing, a smaller size will have less of the solid colour on the tip of the toe, a large size will have a lot of the solid colour on the toe.

    • @mikitta47
      @mikitta47 6 лет назад +1

      I'm just thinking going top down - I'll end up with mostly blue in the foot and none on the toe :P
      I guess I'll just have to give it a try :) Thanks for replying to my question. Love your videos :)

    • @ARNECARLOS
      @ARNECARLOS  6 лет назад +1

      carol h No, you can knit the socks using other kinds of heel patterns too, no problem. The only thing you have to do is knit the sock from the top down.
