Sully Island | tidal island wild camping and bouldering in South Wales

- A wicked tidal island, 15 minutes outside of Cardiff. A beautiful spot for fishing, bouldering, rockpooling, exploring, walking, you name it. Loved exploring this one with some beautiful company. I only wish I had a drone to get some of the amazing aerial views that everyone seems to rave about.
This time we camped overnight when the tide came in so we were totally alone. We cooked dinner on the campfire (on of my biggest steak successes to date), we explored the tidal bouldering, and generally had an awesome time taking in this unique hidden gem. I hope you enjoy.

The 'roof' looked like a good place to spend a rainy night and looked way above tide line .but the barnacles said otherwise 👻. Must be big tides there !
It eould be good but the tide comes way up over it! This spot has the second biggest tidal range in the world so almost every boulder is inaccessible at high tide

That's local to me and no offence but can't understand why you built a fire on grass when you had a rocky beach just a few metres away. The pit was only there because some idiot put it there. We have been trying to get people to stop doing it. Thanks.
Sorry, meant to add. Glad you enjoyed the rest of the island.
There were probably another 4 smaller firepits around the island that we noticed :( I can promise you I would never make a new fireplace on healthy grass but I figured we would keep it contained to somewhere already scarred by fire. Im sorry to have caused any offence, I love the outdoors and I do try to treat it with respect
Actually, the way she did it was respectful to the area. The pit was already established, it was surrounded by rocks, and washed up logs used. She also stopped any spread of wild fire for the night by fully extinguishing it.
@@Jazzman5 thank you for recognising the care I take! I love a campfire but I try to make the best decisions I can to not cause harm to the environment
The problem is, it takes one idiot to light a fire badly in the dry, windy conditions and all the lovely gorse is gone xx

Barnacles?! Do you mean limpets? I've never heard of someone eating barnacles
