I would like to share a biblical analysis of Gentle and Lowly by Grace to You by Jeremiah Johnson, named: "Does Scripture Really Say That? A Critical Appraisal of "Gentle and Lowly"", may the Lord keep us and guide us in His Word, amen!
I'm familiar with Johnson's critique. However, I'm curious why you felt his article would be helpful here or what you hoped to achieve.
Too, I'm wondering if you've
personally read Ortlund's book.
How about "With All Your Heart" by A. Craig Troxel?
How about Mr. Johnson's recommendations of Thomas Goodwin’s The Heart of Christ or Richard Sibbes’s The Bruised Reed?
All these, including "Gentle and Lowly" add insight into Christ's heart toward us.
It is critical to look at this topic, and these books, through the lens of the whole counsel of God's word.
I greatly appreciate all four books. Suggest as counterbalance to Johnson's critique one by TGC, Graham Heslop's, "What’s Wrong with ‘Gentle and Lowly’?"

In Chapter 25, under Christology, is "Thomas Goodwin on Christ's Beautiful Heart"
Consider too, Samuel Trevor Francis' wonderful hymn, "O, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus".
Many need to read these books. All of them, but first and foremost the Holy Scriptures. Soli Deo gloria.

I read Ortlunds book Gentle and Lowly and can honesrly say its the best book Ive ever read about the heart of Christ...how He truly sees us. I cant recommend it enough.
