Amazing cover.
This is honestly the best song to come out of aot. You can feel the energy and hope for the future. Yet the sadness and melancholy for what is yet to come. And then on another hand, one who approaches his death.
This literally gave me chills. And I had tears in my eyes... I actually got to meet the EN VA at a con for Hange, Jessica Calvello. And she was so cool and awesome. But they had just started recording the dubbed for season 4 I think or just wrapped up part 2. I can't remember. But she didn't know what was coming... And I had read the manga.... So I drew a picture of Hange for her to sign and I still have it proudly on my wall. When I watched the final dubbed episode with Jessica's voice as Hange, I had the picture right next to me. And I cried so hard hearing Jessica give it her all for Hange. Hange's last stand. Thank you to Romi Park(Japanese seiyuu) and Jessica Calvello (English voice actor) for giving one of the most bad ass people in anime history a voice. Thank you for giving it your all for Hange's last stand as they finally spread their wings and flew free.

I remember when this scene was playing and the song came on, I decided on a whim to cover it. I never meant to even do an vocal cover until I felt like it wouldn't be proper without it.
I think she went out with a bang, as one of the greatest characters of AOT.

What does this mean, is this the creator or the destroyer... Is this the island's vision of the colossal titan? The lyrics that follow that swords will be made out of hate make me feel like there is a problem from the song writer with God.. as if he sees that God can be equal to the destroyer or that God does evil things? In the words that follow, does the writer want to deny fate? Do these words mean the atheist message?

So I understand German (at least to B2 level, even though I haven't spoken it in like 2 years now, haha)
Either way, I knew that this translation was quite different from the actual direct translation, but I'm not good with writing lyrics. So with the fear of writing something really lyrically terrible, I borrowed the lyrics from another channel which had made their own English Version.
I think he brought out the feel of the song in the lyrics even though he wasn't accurate translation-wise. Going forward, if I ever make an English Cover again, I'll try my best to stick to the original if it makes sense.

Hello! I'm the original writer of this English version. I'm American, but I also speak German, so I'm aware that my version is different from a more direct English translation.
There were many reasons for my decision to change the imagery of the lyrics, but the main reason was to reflect a personal childhood memory of mine, to honor the original German line "traurige Erinnerung an meine Kindheit" ("sad memory from my childhood.")
I was making a sandcastle on the playground at school one day, and a bully destroyed my sandcastle and kicked sand in my eyes. I thought the imagery and the emotions of that moment matched the song perfectly, so I decided to use that memory for my version.
