Okay guys, I was on a roll! As you might have seen, I asked via Facebook what kind of stuff you'd like to hear from me in the future and I got a whole new bunch of suggestions and wishes - this song was one of them! Thanks to Jim for the suggestion btw!
I instantly fell in love with this as it was done by Hiroyuki Sawano, who as you might know also composed the masterpiece that is "Bios" ♥
Just like "Bios" this song is originally in German and I although I never thought I would EVER sing about "Bauklötze" (Wondering what they are? Let me help you out: spielgezeug.de/...) I absolutely LOOOOVE this - it's just really cool to see japanese music and German come together like this.
That said, this song definitely was challenging for me: I decided to sing the main parts with my rather loud and sometimes hard to control chest since I wanted to deliver it with the right amount of power and emotion which was far from easy - but it was great practice so I'm not complaining!

Well german does have its problems but they are more related to some odd grammatic stuff we do.
South Germanic is known to be a bit harsh sounding (especially when spoken by a male) while northern Germanic is known to sound like a melody when spoken.
All languages has their charms, including German.
never knew that the original was mispronounced that much. I still get a lot more emotion from the original though, its still an awesome cover, despite the struggle with the high notes
the original isn't mispronounced it's just emphasized and timed differently. words are less defined too.

The original sometimes sounds to germanophones the way engrish sounds to anglophones. I wouldn’t say it’s mispronounced, but quirky for sure.
Although I’m not sure how close Mika’s version is to natural sounding pronunciation for this particular song, her performance for “Call of Silence” sounded like natural English. I’d like to hear Paperblossom also do a cover of “Call of Silence,” since she does some English ones too.
Not German but studied German. In German as in Japanese nearly always the word is pronounced the way it is written, but Mika sometimes did not pronounce ending properly like "heiss wind" instead of "heisser wind". Plus I always hear her sing "a jenem tag" when it should be 'an jenem tag'.
It sounds like German! I know I sound really stupid when I say that, because PB is German and so is the song, but wow! The difference between this cover and Mika's version is uh large for lack of a better word. Mika's isn't bad that said. It sounded amazing; she, as a Japanese and non-German person, had a hard time pronouncing the words as they should have been pronounced. Both are great in different ways. Glad I found this though. It's amazing.
Im no linguist at all… but i guess my ears n how pronounce stuff can say this:
Japanese words tend to focus at the front of the tongue. Thats y its pretty easy to pronounce japanese coz most of the vocab sounds very precise.
The german tongue is abit harsher. More focus on the back of the tongue. So the “ghh” sound is more pronounced. I cant recall any “ghh” sounds in the japanese language.
And it doesnt help that the japanese phonetics have zero “ghh” sounds. That strong “g” is pretty much absent.
So for mika nakashima - the original singer - to even sing a full german song.. well, not bad.
There are some japanese musical groups that sings Brazilian Portuguese music, and they also have a hard time trying to pronounce the words. But I don't know which language they do better since I don't know how to speak German.

Japanes speakers have huge issues with the german language - nomatter hos much they might love it.

Es ist schwieriger, als man denken würde. Nicht so schwer, wie, gut, Russisch, wegen all der kyrillischen aber immer noch ziemlich verwirrend mit all den 'ß' Sounds. Wenn Sie ernsthaft wollen, gehen Sie mit Vorsicht, denn Deutsch ist in der Tat sehr verwirrend.
Well, that's two years of German classes paying off. If you can't read it (I'm pretty sure you can't, but I don't want to assume), just use Babylon or Google Translate.

In Japanese there are many words inspire from german... best sample the japanese word for Germany ^^

Sorry, can't fix them - if I sang them with my head voice instead of my chest voice they would sound too light and would lack power. I tried that at first and it just sounded wrong. I'm afraid at this point I just can't do any better than this.
I assure you this is the best I can do at the moment ;) The harmonies were very faint so I did sing them again myself - thank youuu!

Als ich erstmals herausgefunden habe, dass das deutsche Lyrics sind und ich da einen genaueren Blick drauf geworfen hatte war das sehr cringe und der Text hätte mir das Lied beinahe ruiniert. Mit deiner Stimme empfinde ich das mal sowas von gar nicht mehr. Du fängst nicht nur die Emotionen des Originals perfekt ein, du beflügelst die Lyrics literally und lässt sie absolut nicht mehr albern wirken. Meinen allergrößten Respekt :D
Paperblossom ist eine Person bei der man nur den Beginn eines covers anhört und direkt auf subscribe drückt.

What a powerful voice ! I really like that. Most of these days cover singers rely too much on autotune and editing instead of focusing on their voice quality. That was beautiful. This song is severily underrated compared to Vogel im Kafig.

Just wanted to say im a big fan of the original and i wanted to hear a version with better german pronunciation and i got to say i wasn't dissapointed :) i loved it at the parts when the song was going slow and the only drawback it has like others have mentioned is when the song picks up and it comes out like you are screaming (well not quite but i think you get what im trying to say).Nevertheless great cover and i hope you give it an other try when you can control your voice better :)

Honestly as a native English speaker, we usually pick up when we are hearing at least a Germanic language, and the pronunciation of the German in the original songs are so bad I really didn’t even know it was German until I saw the subtitles 😅 still a beautiful song tho!!!

I heard this cover 7 years ago and all these years I thought it was original 😂 I listened to Mika Kobayashi's version and unfortunately I cannot say I liked it. The cover is much better.

Im so jealous, I can barely use the chest tone but the head tone for such notes is too sudden a transition. Im going to find one way or another to sing this song eventually. I would love to hear you sing "Something Beautiful" by AI from the anime Berserk. Your voice would be perfect for it ^_^

I love this cover PaperBlossom! As much as I adore Mika Kobayashi's voice her German isn't the most understandable so it's really awesome to hear a version with easy to understand German so I can understand the full message of the song better! :)

It's really funny even though I can speak German, I like the original version better, don't get me wrong it's not the singing, PB did this just amazing when it comes to the singing skills, even almost better than the original, but it's just the pronunciation, it somehow sounds cooler when you don't understand it, the words sound like a mix of Japanese and German language, people hate on that but I just love it, anyways great cover. :D
Can confirm. Japanese pop songs sound a lot more cool and profound when you don't understand Japanese. Understanding the languages takes away some of the magic (the magesty?).
The same also applies to English. English is not my native language. When I was young I used to listen to Disney cartoon and movie songs, etc, and it felt much more profound when I didn't know what they were saying.

This is pretty damn amazing. I wanted to look up a version sung by a German, and you did a pretty great job, it's not at all easy to hit the notes that Mika hits, more like pretty impossible actually. Danke for the epic cover. =]

Ich habe dich gefunden, weil du auch "Blumenkranz" von Kill la Kill gesungen hast und ich fand das so schön. Ich liebe auch Attack on Titan aber als Kanadier, der nur Deutsch spricht, hatte ich gar keine Ahnung, dass dieses Lied auf Deutsch war. Dachte, das war Japanisch :P Ich finde es ganz toll wenn ich das alles verstehen kann. Also sehr gute Leistung von dir :D

Ich finde dein cover viel besser als das original, warum? Ich verstehe nun mal viel besser als das original. Ich habe viel zeit gebraucht um zu merken dass Mika in deutsch que sugen hatte. Ich finde auch dass du eine super stimme hast, ich hoffe dass ich nicht so viel Fehlern gemacht habe, weil ich Französin bin, und vie du es vielleicht weisst, oft sind Franzosen schlecht in english, also ich mach mein bestes in deutsch.
