I haven't filed taxes in 10 years. I've been taking care of an adult daughter with cystic fibrosis if you want to know why I haven't filed. I filed taxes barely a week ago and got them back in 6 days!!!! I received my stimulus money (1200) today at 7pm. I hope that helps answer the questions I have received since my comment!!! I have to say pleasantly surprised and appreciative of our government!!! It was much needed and appreciate the help!!!! Thanks for letting me use your channel to hopefully help others!!!! This man is the best! He gets to the point and provides detailed instructions. I am late filing for 2021 but I was completely confused why Uber's 1099 only put my additional income and not what I made entirely. In addition, he answered the office question as well as I also booked Truckloads on the side as a Freight Agent.
I either missed this point or you forgot to mention the most important deduction for a used car - maintenance/repairs, tires, oil changes, floor mats, phone holders, auto vacuum cleaners etc. ))) And yeah, great video, thanks!!! )
Hopefully you'll see the question, but I know the stimulus checks are going to be coming within maybe 5 days from now for direct deposit. But I was under the impression we get 2 1200 dollar checks. If so, what I do with the first check is dependent on when that second one comes. Any word on the second check, or am I just hearing things? Edit- I'm seeing everyone should give this guy $1 from their check for all the information given. I second that!! So much GREATLY appreciated info in such a timely manner deserves some credit from the people he helped 🙂

Another informational video that would be helpful is, one explaining how turning your Uber business or DoorDash business, into an LLC, and how it may or may not be beneficial.
I’ve really wanted to start driving for Uber full time but this whole tax thing makes me slightly uneasy. Though from my understanding most of it is just saving every receipt and recording every detail meticulously so when tax season comes you can lower taxes as far down as possible through deductions and maximize how much you keep. Unless I got this all wrong that’s what I’m starting to learn.
I’m concerned because I made over 200 trips I started Uber in January. I missed the quarterly estimated tax payments last month and I’m not sure do I pay sooner than later or wait until I file my taxes next tax season.
@Frankhusgig how did you go about it? I didn't save for quarterly taxes, I made 35k net and 60k gross. For the year 2022 , I did 40k miles in the year driving for uber , with my taxes I owed 1,511$ on taxes on it with 25k deductible from uber Deb summary
In my opinion and experience, it is very difficult to beat the mileage deduction. Thus, there is no point in unnecessarily exhausting yourself, overthinking and overtly try to strategize how to beat the IRS and lower your taxes.
Get all your receipts together, add them up in each category like car maintenance, gas and go to freetaxusa. They will walk you though it. Just make sure you read every line.
As I recall Uber only counts miles from the pickup to the drop off. This does not count the miles used to get from your house to your first pickup, it also does not include from a drop off to the location of the next pick up. Also will the IRS ding you for you claiming taxes on gas if you go with the $0.58 per mile if you are driving a EV that doesn't take gas but instead you charge at home?
Love your channel. Thank you for all the hard work and detail. My question is about the (Uber Eats) Uber Tax Summary. There is a "Gross Payment", then "Expenses, fees and Taxes", Table 2 - "Additional Payments from Uber or Subsidiaries" and "Your Net Payout". I am not sure how to apply these factors to the tax return.
Also, I realize this was for the previous year, so perhaps it was different then compared to now - not to mention, mine was for Uber EATS and i think this was more in alignment with the Uber Taxy type side of things..., I did not receive a 1099K or MISC, so I only have that document UberEatsTaxInfo document to go by... SMH...
FreeTaxUSA and TurboTax both told me that I couldn’t claim my mileage because it wasn’t federal work or work for disabled persons. Why can’t I just claim mileage?
Honestly I did 2018, 2019 tax filled, but my accountant have no knowledge about Uber year summary sheet. Both two years I paid more personal tax from my pocket.
i work the 2AM time when every onr is looking for rides and after i pick up a rider to take them home i will be hit with ping after ping for new rides. so i turn off that im excepting and that turns off the online miles and i dont turn it on again till i get back downtown. hey sir. i am an uber/lyft driver and i am trying to do my taxes. the question they ask is "enter the section 179 deduction you took at the time. You will find the amount located on the first page of depreciation and amortization in your tax return for the year you started using the vehicle for business"
I've seen plenty of people talk about how to file delivery gig taxes but I've never seen someone actually show a step by step example. That would be a lot more helpful than all the talking. Create a hypothetical driver and show how to input their earnings and deductions..etc.
How do I do depreciation when I did uber part time, the car I had in Jan, Feb in 2021 I no long have that vehicle has of September 2021, that's when I got a newer vehicle in September and started uber with that newer vehicle in December 2021.

Can’t you deduct the entire cost of the car (as if it was your home office) if you use it 100% for Uber work? Also, can you deduct 100% of the cell phone even if you use it for personal use as well?

It doesn't match exactly with the UBER/LYFT form miles. What miles should I use? the ones from my app of the Uber form? or both even if there's a discrepancy.
