There are many considerations when it comes to shopping as ethically as possible. While it's very difficult to know whether any given brand is 100% ethical, I take several factors into account, including social justice, sustainablility, and human & animal rights. I try my best to only purchase from brands that offer inclusive shade ranges in complexion products, and that do not test on animals or use child labor. Aahhh I just realized I made a mistake! I actually did use the Ace Beauté Envy palette once in January too; I must have forgotten to tally it but I have a photo of that look on my Instagram! So I actually used 15 palettes in January!
I put painters tape on the bottom of my palettes and make a little tick each time I use the palette. At the end of the year, I know how many times I used it. Then I draw a line under it or add another piece of tape for the next year. It’s fun to see usage year to year at a glance. I just keep a sharpie at my vanity. I do this for blushes and even single shadows too.

Monthly updates would be great! I feel like it's more interesting to know what someone used in one month vs in two or three months. Also, you'll have used them more recently and will likely have more interesting/pertinent thoughts when giving feedback on them in a shorter delay after having used them
I'm so excited for you getting PR, don't be afraid to say no if it is getting you overwhelmed, I need to track my usuage. I would love to see monthly updates as long as it isn't too much work. Great usage this last month
I have been tracking my collection usage since last year and it’s been really nice to see what products I really don’t reach for and then I can analyze why.
The only items I don’t track are brow products and eye primers. I also find it interesting to see how many uses I get out of my products too!
I’ve been tracking my eye shadow and blush usage since December of 2021 and it’s become a habit now. (Ok, perhaps a little bit of an obsession.) I use a spreadsheet too and I love having an accurate record of what I use. And it’s taught me that a usage goal project pan is the only kind of project that works for me. I’m working toward 50 uses on 50 products. We’ll see how long it takes!
I started doing this this year as well but I also write down every palette I use, how many times i use them, every shade and then every product I use on my face. It's a lot to maintain but I really wanted to know what I'm actually using and how long it take takes to use up or hit pan on things. My spreadsheets track a lot 😅
I would love to be able to track all my usage!! Would be super cool to look back on. Maybe next year I will😂
I've been doing this too, but I haven't managed to keep quite as many data points as you. So far I'm just keeping actual number of uses on my palettes and lippies

At the start of the year I created a whole inventory and am tracking my usage/ product and honestly it's SO fun. I am loving seeing the visual of what I'm actually using. And then I plan so assess at the end of each quarter what I might consider decluttering. I track everything on a spreadsheet but in the interim I just update and notes app on my phone anytime I do my makeup with what products I used and then I end up logging it on my spreadsheet a few weeks later.
I started doing something like this mid-2021, I think. I keep up with uses for both eyeshadow and face palettes. I added a tab to my mega beauty spreadsheet that I use for inventory, empties, etc. and it's been fun to see what I actually use. Now with multiple years of data, it's fun to see what palettes get dethroned as favorites and what are new faves. I fully recognize that this is majorly nerdy, but it also helps me focus on using what I have. And realizing what I actually use (and don't use!).

Glad you are feeling better! As pretty as the Shared Planet palette is, I never picked it up because I truly don't need it. Though it's really nice, still I appreciate your honest opinion on it. Shared Planet hasn't really released anything lately, I hope it doesn't spell trouble for them. But good video and roundup of palettes, glad you are still enjoying Nomad! I am a new fan as well!

Something i do with rainbow palettes that i get intimidated by is do monochromatic looks. you can’t really go wrong pairing blue with blue or green with green. then once i have a better understanding of how they work on the eye i’m more inclined to step out of my comfort zone.
When experimenting with color, I like borrowing Lauren Mae Beauty's technique of just doing two shadows. I think she used to call it her ice cream eye looks. That way I can get used to how duos work together and then from there I can add in a third or fourth depending on what I want the dominant colors to be.
It is fun to see you getting more PR. I'm kinda tempted to try that Wet N' Wild palette you rave about. Naked Honey leaned a little too amber for me. The tone was just not good for my skin. I love a good camel or terracotta, though.
Agreed about naked honey!! It was way too amber, but I feel like the WnW palette is a lot more mustard/warm browns so I prefer it!

@SarahRoseBeauty are the shimmers in your Wet N Wild palette bad? The shimmers in the palette I ordered were horrid.
I actually had to declutter Ace Beautē Floral Vintage palette because every look I did turned yellow orange as well. It's definitely good quality, but I didn't love the undertones of the palette combined with my undertones. I hope you enjoy it though!
Ooh interesting that you had the same experience!! It’s funny because it doesn’t look that orange at first glance, but it really is a mostly orange palette 😅
I just rotate through my pallets. I own 6 and use 1 per week. That way I know I'm using all of them 😂

i have a few pallette and every week i pick one to use i also take photos of all my makeup and when they pop up on my devices i remember i have it and go to the draw where i have it stored i number my draws so i dont have to search it a way of keeping track of all my products love your vids xx
I have always been horrible at panning powder products so when I started trying to pan lipsticks and base products, I decided to track my uses of overall palettes and not stick to one shadow or one palette, I need freedom to choose with my palettes because I love them so much. tracking them helped me use every single palette even if it was just once and it was so rewarding especially when I need to declutter I can see what I used the least of and it’s great!

when talking about your dilemma to mix the different undertones/colors in the aura palette, i came up with a few combos i would do if i had the palette! (obv you don't have to use these but i thought i'd share in case you were interested): soul w/ chi and halo, sunburst w/glamour, moonlight w/ wistful, and soul w/ nimbus and/or sultry
also maybe a palette bingo may help with inspiration!

It was cool to see what you used. I used Ace Beaute but I think it was their older formula. Very pigmented & a little thick for my taste. I think the pigment is because it's a brand catering to deeper skin tones so on lighter skin things may read one note.

I can't decide if I should get New Mod or not. I don't want more berries, but the color story looks like my kind of colors.
If you don’t want more berries I’d say skip it!! It is pretty berry heavy!

If you're struggling with shades that don't really blend together, you don't need to do that. Cut Crease, using one colour family on the lid and one on the lower lashline and barely blending it, very abstract, structured looks will work better without having to blend purple and mustard together - they look so good and contrasting together but most of the time don't blend nicely into eachother without turning muddy. still doable, just not very easy to work with.

I'm surprised you have issues with Sigma's dark mattes. Some of the shimmers can be a bit tricky, but I don't recall having issues with Ambiance or New Mod. Marigold, I use as a topper and it's gorgeous. The purple mattes in Cinderella are definitely a bit tricky.
I will have to keep trying the sigma palettes because I feel like only trying them once I couldn’t get a good feel but I do remember the dark browns being a little challenging to blend! It’s possible some of the other deep shades are better!!
@SarahRoseBeauty I think the only time I use the deep green in the Enchanted palette is as a liner or as an outer corner color, and the black in that palette may have been a bit messy. I know the black in one of their palettes is, but I did enjoy the black in the Cinderella palette. I think it was the black in Untamed that I didn't like. That said, I really am not one to use black. I had used one of their palettes (Untamed) to create an egyptian liner, and it was kind of flaky.
If you regularly use primer, maybe try the mattes without primer (or set your eyes) and just use glitter glue for the shimmers. I do have issues with creasing with these shadows, but with a glitter glue or even just a primer (Milani's) on the lid, I don't. I usually prefer no primer with Sigma's mattes because they are so pigmented. Without primer, I have little to no issues with most of the mattes.
I know, that is a bit fussy. However, with Glamlite, I hate their mattes without primer, so I guess maybe there are just some quirks with all brands?
I appreciate the transparency one way or the other, no matter how you come to feel once you review them. I was so disappointed in Oden's Eye's formula. It's actually not terrible. It is just so hyped up that I expected more. I think if I walked into the formula with more realistic expectations, I would enjoy the palettes I have from them more.
Glamlite, too, for that matter.
Katie Marie has an influx of new palettes / makeup that overwhelms me, but I had a deep respect for her for actually speaking on this because I kind of was feeling like it is the new Morphe. A brand with an okay formula hyped up as though it is perfection.
I honestly felt the same way about Kaleidos. People don't want to speak poorly about Indie brands so they gloss over the details in reviews. It makes me really hesitant to try new Indie brands.
