That last scene was the only one that this bomb of a movie did justice for the Ritz Brothers. It was great to see the old men perform some of their vintage footwork.
They only had the one dance. They do the exact same dance every time. You'd think they'd bother to come up with something new especially after Al died.
Jimmy Ritz is absolutely amazing here and in all the other Ritz Brothers clips. Jimmy was really the funny one. Sure Harry could make his couple of funny faces, but it was really Jimmy who carried the act.
We can only be glad we didn't see an almost 80 year old Moe Howard with Curly Joe and Emile Sitka doing this lousy movie. Sad enough to see the two remaining Ritz Brothers in this.
If you watch the clip if their dance fro "Sing, Baby, Sing, this is the same dance number. But, as you said, they tried. They were big stars at one time, which is more than can be said for most.
I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, it's sad that Moe Howard died right before getting the Three Stooges back in front of the cameras. On the other hand, appearing in this particular film would have been an injustice to the legendary comedy team. Had Moe not been stricken with lung cancer, I think he would have ended up regretting doing this picture.
+Mattwav The movie you saw was probably "The Gorilla", which can be seen in thousands of uploadings on internet. But when you see that useless movie, you must know the background: the Ritz Brothers leaved the filming before the movie was finished, because they hated the script and the third-rate production they was forced to do. This made big news back then, and probably because of this conflict they never again had a contract with a big movie studio. They deserved a much better obituary, but the reality is ugly, and after many decades in obscurity they was offered a part in a movie, this one -- and cemented the prejudice that they was useless. Which they wasn't, granted. This is tragic.
Jimmy and Harry should have brought the curtain down on the act after Al died. Just 2 Ritz Brothers is nothing; maybe they were broke and needed the money.
@frankensteinsGhost13 The film's producers were using old names in an attempt to sell cinema tickets while putting very little money into the actual movie, doing no justice to The Ritz Brothers and making them look like bigger turkeys than the actual 'movie'... Such a shame.
The wallpaper music tracks (and track choices) increase the crap-factor of this film. Now replace that with a laugh track and fitting music hits to accentuate their comedy - you'd have gold. Fox ruined their burgeoning film career with a crap script 40 years before this turd was released.
This is really painful to watch. The Ritz Brothers hade not been in any movie since the 40's, and their stage career was over since many years. Harry Ritz have lost most of his ability to do physical comedy (his faces is rather stiff). And the script is ... not there?
I just cannot like the Ritz brothers! I acknowledge their comic influence on Mel Brooks, Jerry Lewis, Danny Kaye, and Sid Caesar, but I just don't think song-and-dance men are funny. Compare this clip with some of the Ritz Brothers' earlier films, and you'll see they are doing some of the same dance steps that they did thirty years previously. I just cannot imagine anybody actually laughing at this.
As slow and boring as "Kook's Tour" can be, I am glad that wound up being the Stooges' last film instead of this. Though I do feel sorry for Harry and Jimmy.
This movie is terrible! I've seen a Ritz Brothers movie one of the really old ones and they are a third rate Marx Brothers, even their old stuff is brutally unfunny

Well, obviously there wasn't one hell of a lot of money thrown into the production, but the two remaining Ritzes gave it their all, God love 'em.

Amazingly, The Ritz Bros were the idols of Mel Brooks...esp Harry Ritz...they cracked Mel up
I'm gald the Stooges never did this. Kook's Tour wasn't a masterpiece, but it was a better final bow than this would have been.

Like NYC in the '70's. A lot of needless muggings.

The dance scene had a kind of Sesame Street feel.

everybody feel better after their spleen venting?

@diddymuck Yes, the Ritz brothers were 10 times more performance oriented and 10 times less funny.
Looks like an Ed Wood production. (See: Plan 9 from outer space)
😅😅😊😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This was supposed to be a Stooges vehicle???
the ritz brothers as replacements????? Love moe larry shemp and curly but the ritz's were 10 times more performance oriented.

@mmdeutsch Their time ended in the late 1930's.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
