Beautiful capture of the big cats in action. I did not even notice that the king was with the lionesses, but I guess he is always available for an assist in a meal. The leopards were beautiful. I would have never thought to see the cubs attempting to raid a bird's nest. Great videography! 🦁🐆👍
Thank you very much!

Hi MM. I don't know which leopard that was crossing the Sand River, just a few hundred metres from where a small group of Lions from the Sand River pride had successfully managed to catch and kill a big adult female waterbuck, but that leopard whoever it was, did very well to quietly sneak past the spot in the tall grass where the lions were just starting to enjoy their breakfast/lunch/dinner. Didn't it? I'd love to know which leopard that was as soon as possible, please. It looked quite a big one as well.
Once more, the teenage cubs of the Sibuye female have become the targets for some annoying mockery from a pair of noisey Egyptian geese whilst the young cats were up a tree possibly looking to see if there were any baby goslings they could practice their own hunting skills on together. I could see they were looking a bit nervous and cautious to make sure the noise the geese were making didn't attract the attention and ears of other leopards or predators to their location in the area. With the 2 cubs, roughly 18 months old now, it'll be interesting to see how much longer their ever so very successful mother will be providing for them both for. Wouldn't it? But she's done very well to get both of her two fast growing youngsters to almost independence age. I reckon it will be at least another six months or so before she gets them both to cut themselves loose from her apron strings to go out and fend for themselves together.
If the young cats didn't get or find any goslings in their nests up in the trees, then maybe they were looking to see if they could get some geese eggs to try and open or get their teeth into for practice. But it is clear the adult Egyptian geese were not very happy about it at all.
I hope their mother came for them not too long after they were attempting to do whatever they were trying to do. Their curiosity at their age is just so interesting and very fascinating. Isn't it?
But as for the small hunting party of lions from the Sand River pride, I'm sure their big female waterbuck kill will last them all a few days worth of feeding altogether. If any of the other lionesses have got tiny cubs to feed, then maybe they will go and fetch the cubs and bring them to the kill. But using the long tall grass to their advantage and working together as a team certainly helped them to secure a good and much needed meal. There, I could see at least 1 male from the coalition of 4 with the hunting lionesses as well. But I'm sure the rest of the pride would have heard the companion and come running in to join the meal. Won't they?
This is just a further update for you on the Marthly lioness that I know you haven't seen for a rather long time. She has just in the last few days revealed her first ever litter of cubs. She is a proud first-time mum to 3 very sweet and healthy looking cubs, who seem to be 2 girls and 1 boy currently. Though they are sweet, I do feel sorry for the young male cub, as he hasn't got a twin litter mate brother to go out with when and if he successfully makes it to adulthood in a few years time. And without a twin brother, he will struggle to get a pride and territory of his own unless he's lucky enough to meet up with other nomadic young teenage males of his or a similar age when ready. I hope you'll have great joy in reading this and announcing it.
Hope to hear from you shortly.
