i love watching these old videos. it shows progress in marc's commentary, improvement in how the logs get turned over and the overall improvement in the structure they work in.
All is great Lewie and happy mother’s day to you as well. My knee is feeling better than ever and business is picking up so I’m living the dream buddy. Too damn wet to plant anything but hopefully that will change soon. As always good chats my friend

I have, but it was a mechanical error, not Mark's. A bolt came out of the setworks and advanced as the log was hitting the blade. Handled well, Mark got the log backed out before any damage could happen.

Mark what happened to your Sawmill shed. LOL. God bless you and yours. Shed for the shavings. You come a long ways,,, you can have the prettiest sawmill... if you don't know how to running it's nothing,, the whole thing should be canary yellow?
yeah you let that pine set to long. Word of advice as soon at white pine comes in it needs to get on the mill asap. Oak and other species usually can hold for a bit but white pine only take about a month after cut before it starts to stain.
How old are those trees and what type of pine are they? We have about 140 Lob Lolly logs that are 2' to 3' in diameter and about 14 foot long each. Wanted to get them sawn up but still do not even have a saw mill yet, ha ha. We cut the trees down to clear the way for our little homestead and then a driveway into the place. The project has taken longer than planned due to multiple life situations. Its an old forest and My son and I are doing most all the work ourselves. We hoped to use the lumber for a timber frame type barn but if it goes bad we have plenty more trees to harvest. The older pines, around 60 years old, seem to die off a couple every year. Might as well get some use out of them before they all go. Terry
@@markgalicic7788 Thanks! What I meant was how long (years/months) have they been cut before you ran them through the mill? Ours have been cut and stacked for about 2 years now. Is that to old? Will there still be any good wood in the logs?
You might consider a 20 foot rol on rol off demo container and put a roof on it so you can have an easier way to haul out and deliver your sawdust. Just a thought.
I sure wished you would have shown cutting that big log to size. Everyone shows the final cutting of the finished. Video was going good until you cut to the log that was aready squared off. I lost intrest at that point and started writing this.
maybe 28" but not round , our 52" saw is to small for any log over 24". we have a new 56" saw but we want to build the building first before we put the saw on the mill. thanks for watching our video!

Ye olde bus motor don't know what a load is and I hope it never finds out. When that thing burps a lot of people will hear it! Good job and where is the edger? YOu keeping it hid for bad weather? Just thought I'd ask. A-PLUS, Mark!
First time I have seen one of your videos and subscribed. Worked in a saw mill for a while as a millwright. We called that type of a saw a head rig. Where are you located?
Would be like sawing through plastic board. Totally saturated with pine rosin, coats blade since it melts with heat, sticks to blade and hardens as soon as cool causing high drag.
mark: Can be done, just time consuming. Needs sharp (and resharpened) blade, stop and clean off often. Should be better with a bandsaw blade. Reason for it being expensive.

wow! doesnt the old logs ruin the blade fast?
no they still are very wet but some staining inside the log.
