You know Toei should have let both Mamoru, Chibi Usa, and Diana stay in the 2nd Arc of Sailor Stars. Toei should of gave Mamoru a power up with Helios giving him The Golden Crystal in the 1st Arc of Sailor Stars like how Serenity gave Usagi The Silver Crystal in the 1st Arc of R after Ali & An's monster destroyed her first brooch. Another reason why he should have stayed was so he could of had a rivalry with Seiya over Usagi and that love triangle would have been on par with Naruto, Hinata, and Sakura from Naruto or Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kikyo from Inuyasha. Like Toei could of had Usagi conflicted with her feelings for both Mamoru and Usagi just like how Inuyasha was between Kagome and Kikyo.

A tomboy is a common character trait, same with time travellers (Future Trunks from DBZ, Homura from Madoka Magica, Toki from One Piece etc), and black hair like Kagome/Rei is a common character design. You might be on to something about Setsuna though, being named after Pluto and playing the violin like Michiru. I definitely agree that Diana, Mamoru, and Chibiusa should've stayed in Stars. It would've been awesome to see all the Sailors get their Eternal forms and Diana her human form, but the 90s didn't do that unfortunately. If Chibiusa stayed in Stars, I would love to have her relationship with Hotaru explored more. And Mamoru definitely needed a power-up, the Golden Crystal was the perfect opportunity. It definitely was a missed opportunity on Toei's part to not include a love triangle with Seiya and Mamoru. It would've been cool to see the drama and how strong Usagi's resolve is. And build up Mamoru's character more.

Sailor Chibi Moon and Sailor Saturn made a great tag team and I would have loved to have seen them fight a Phage, also Toei should of had Mamoru give Usagi the ring in Episode 200 instead of 173. If Mamoru had gotten that power up with The Golden Crystal, both him and Usagi with her Silver Crystal would have been an awesome Battle Couple. Because I didn't like how Seiya had the nerve to tell Mamoru to protect Usagi which he had been doing since Season 1, also that part about Chibi Usa staying. Well I would have loved to have seen in the last episode her and Hotaru making a wish with Setsuna asking them what they wished for and they both said it was a secret, with them asking her what she wished for and she told them it is a secret, also I would have loved to have seen her use The Sailor Planetary Attack with The Inners and Outers since we saw her use Sailor Planetary Teleportation. But yeah if Toei had did a triangle, it would have been a test as well as drama. Because in Anime we see that almost all the time.
The anime softened the blow for his "final" death (because he died in the first season too). In the manga, it happened right in front of Usagi. That was a bit harsher than seeing his crystal in a group among others. I wish the anime had followed the manga more because Mamoru was AWESOME in the manga.
While seeing him die is definitely harsher for Usagi, I think the realization that Usagi has been writing letters to her dead fiance(?) and wondering all season why he hasn't written her back is personally more emotionally devastating

In the manga it was confirmed the arch before which was why he was targeted in the first place and how Usagi was able to immediately identify his GOLDEN star seed

The fact he spoke so highly of the girls before passing away unbeknownst to them knowing that Mamoru practically died the very first episode is killing me. Usagi always in his mind. I was sad that he didn’t get to appear during the last season during the 90s anime. I adore Seiya but I will never choose them over Mamo chan ❤😢
Mamo is truly a far better character in the anime most give him credit for. It took a few scenes here to really present the best of Mamo with how he believes in Sailor Moon and the senshi no matter what and would never turn his back on them even when staring death. It's why I love anime Mamo.
She fainted right after it happened so she dismissed it as dream and was just in denial even though her attitude was drastically different from that point. No one else saw Mamoru die except the Starlights so they all assumed he got on the plane because Usagi told them he did. In the manga, the story proceeds a lot faster than the anime so after Mamoru dies, Galaxia starts picking everyone off so Usagi doesn't really have time to dwell on it before her friends die too.
I have to say she was in major denial and who could blame her? After witnessing a loved ones death. Her story of him getting on the plane was probably her way to cope with the situation. No body?

Galaxia wasn't trying to defeat evil in the manga. She just wanted power. The last few chapters in the manga are quite harsh. It's a miracle Usagi wasn't traumatized for life after it. But since everyone pretty much dies at the end of every arc she'd probably gotten used to it by then.

I remember as a 13 year old watching this for the first time, I cried for days. It still makes me super sad. I always looked up to Mamoru. I grew in a country with a lot of troubles and for me Sailor moon is the lifeline that saved me and made me positive about the future.

And yes, Galaxia did show her his crystal in the manga for the evulz. As for Takeuchi, I guess she wanteed to show how strong Usagi was that she could overcome such despair and persevere. That was a big plot point in the final arc of the manga.
The good point of final arc of manga is complete absence of Phages, Monsters of the Week of final season of 90s anime. Galaxia and her subordinates perfectly knows who have Sailor Crystals. In 52th act Aluminium Siren killed Mercury and Jupiter.
I saw this and was like, "No Mamoru!!! Ow well I saw this from a mile away!" And who didn't. Once the yellow ball first hit the plane in the beginning of the season, you know he either is dead or got captured!
Wonder what Galaxia did to the remaining passengers inside that plane? Also! This missing plane was never reported in the news since it didn't reach its destination.

Usagi, Mamoru, and all the inner senshi first die at the end of the first season, but are brought back to life due to Usagi's final wish upon the Ginzuishou. The second time is here, in Stars, when they get their Star Seeds removed. They are revived again because the Star Seeds were brought back.
Well, he died twice, got brainwashed 3 times, kissed his future daughter, and had a dream that if he stayed with Usagi she would die so after they got back together he broke up

Mamoru was only male which had True Star Seed. His name Chiba Mamoru literally means 'Earth Protector'. Earth is exceptional planet in our Solar System and what Guardian of third planet was male. In manga Mamoru's Star Seed was Golden Crystal, like Usagi's Star Seed was Silver Crystal.

I haven't watched this season yet, but in my opinion, the Sailor Senshi's deaths are more depressing. And Rei's death hit me the most whenever I see it in these amvs showing each of the deaths. That scene when she was saying goodbye to Usagi tore my heart to pieces, oh why, why did you have to die, Rei-chan, WHY?! But I'll admit, this is a shocker death too, and a surprisingly well executed one for Mamoru.

I always wondered how unbalanced this show is. Inner Senshi are weak, Outer can do something, but still Usagi saved the world herself. And Mamoru doesn't really do anything, he only knows how to swing a stick and throw roses. :( It would be more interesting if the other characters had more "to do".

The inners always threw themselves in front of Sailor Moon, came close to dying and did die 2 times despite the anime making them completely incompetent. The only successful attack of inners in the last season was them dodging juice boxes from Aluminium Siren with a combined attack. At least the reboot has done some justice sorting this imbalance out.

Mamoru did a lot to protect Usagi from keeping her alive in the first episode, stopping Jadeite in the Talk Radio episode and Nephrite, helping Usagi by encouraging her and reminding that she was stronger than anyone especially him, he protected her and Chibiusa when they would've died in R, stabbed that balloon lemure to save Usagi, and let's not forget he did die like three times. But I will give you the fact that the Senshi and the Starlights were frankly useless and made me wonder why on them were there.
I thought that she was completely oblivious for most of the season bc she was more concerned about the fact that he didn't call, and she tried to act as if nothing was wrong. The others of course, saw right through this, and they weren't very happy about it. Rei especially, was worried about her during his absence. And then after the Sailor Senshi were killed, didn't Galaxia show his star seed to her to weaken her morale? Wow, that sounds horrible, Takeuchi really wanted Usagi to suffer, huh?

Galaxia was a Sailor Senshi who wanted to control the universe in order to defeat Chaos. So she got self-righteous and started establishing her domain by invading planets and killing other senshi. Chaos found an opening and decided to use her like he did with all the other villains. Sailor Moon wanted to heal her, but she was told if she failed the universe was fucked. She was always a bitch, and not some sweet girl who had a little too much despair for breakfast. She's described better in manga
Nope, you are wrong. He calls her "Usako" which is the combination of Usagi and "ko" (child). Mamoru at the beginning of the series, Haruka and Seiya call her "Odango-atama" but never combined with Usagi.

@@helloworld366 and to add on to that, his future self puts those dreams in his past self to test the strength of their love, but doesn't realise that if Mamoru and Usagi separate because of those dreams, Chibiusa would never be born, basically screwing the future.

Mamoru was only male which had True Star Seed. His name Chiba Mamoru literally means 'Earth Protector'. Earth is exceptional planet in our Solar System and what Guardian of third planet was male. In manga Mamoru's Star Seed was Golden Crystal, like Usagi's Star Seed was Silver Crystal.

I haven't watched this season yet, but in my opinion, the Sailor Senshi's deaths are more depressing. And Rei's death hit me the most whenever I see it in these amvs showing each of the deaths. That scene when she was saying goodbye to Usagi tore my heart to pieces, oh why, why did you have to die, Rei-chan, WHY?! But I'll admit, this is a shocker death too, and a surprisingly well executed one for Mamoru.

I always wondered how unbalanced this show is. Inner Senshi are weak, Outer can do something, but still Usagi saved the world herself. And Mamoru doesn't really do anything, he only knows how to swing a stick and throw roses. :(
It would be more interesting if the other characters had more "to do".

@@annieandelsieofarendelle3294 in the anime he was useless, how many times did he end up getting sick or kidnapped and the "damsel in distress". The inners always threw themselves in front of Sailor Moon, came close to dying and did die 2 times despite the anime making them completely incompetent. The only successful attack of inners in the last season was them dodging juice boxes from Aluminium Siren with a combined attack. At least the reboot has done some justice sorting this imbalance out.

Mamoru did a lot to protect Usagi from keeping her alive in the first episode, stopping Jadeite in the Talk Radio episode and Nephrite, helping Usagi by encouraging her and reminding that she was stronger than anyone especially him, he protected her and Chibiusa when they would've died in R, stabbed that balloon lemure to save Usagi, and let's not forget he did die like three times. But I will give you the fact that the Senshi and the Starlights were frankly useless and made me wonder why on them were there.
I thought that she was completely oblivious for most of the season bc she was more concerned about the fact that he didn't call, and she tried to act as if nothing was wrong. The others of course, saw right through this, and they weren't very happy about it. Rei especially, was worried about her during his absence. And then after the Sailor Senshi were killed, didn't Galaxia show his star seed to her to weaken her morale? Wow, that sounds horrible, Takeuchi really wanted Usagi to suffer, huh?

kind of agree and disagree at the same time, there really cool things in the manga that were not added in theanime but also some others that I don't like a lot... but definetly the Mamoru Manga's Death is better, really traumatic

Galaxia was a Sailor Senshi who wanted to control the universe in order to defeat Chaos. So she got self-righteous and started establishing her domain by invading planets and killing other senshi. Chaos found an opening and decided to use her like he did with all the other villains. Sailor Moon wanted to heal her, but she was told if she failed the universe was fucked. She was always a bitch, and not some sweet girl who had a little too much despair for breakfast. She's described better in manga

Nope, you are wrong. He calls her "Usako" which is the combination of Usagi and "ko" (child). Mamoru at the beginning of the series, Haruka and Seiya call her "Odango-atama" but never combined with Usagi.
