    I don't understand how you got the 500meters
    Because converting cm to meter is ÷100 which is 5÷100 is 0.05

      You get the 500m after converting the scale of your topographic map into meters.....

    How did you get the value of 500 which you used to multiply your height distance

      500m is equal to 50000cm. the scale of the map is 1:50000cm and you need to convert it into m to match the unit of the vertical interval. so 1:500m is the same as 1:50000cm
