I think a good counter-measure to consider is wearing special glasses to hide your eyes and eye areas. Because they are particularly important for machine algorithms.
In the end, wearing a mask ALWAYS makes sense, mitigating against potential weaponization of our data / biometrics - protecting human autonomy / principles. Masks alway protect a peaceful protester over NOT wearing a mask. Wearing a facial covering ALWAYS provides some level of protection against unethical digital cage technology. Wearing a mask is to hide our true identity. Say it how it is with your face or don’t say anything at all. Time to take our masks off and be ourselves. Who gives a flying shit what other people say.
Some supporting their family, may have legit concerns about losing jobs - depending on their protest stance / employer, and in turn, may be concerned about losing their homes. Some indeed say "f it. Just have to do it"... but not everyone can see it that way if they the sole financial support for family, who may not have many options. From my viewpoint, no matter the issue, to build a truly strong movement IMHO, w/have to be willing to work with all kinds of people, different political parties / beliefs, all w/different comfort levels - to align where we find common ground. To build more potential for massive movements.. Otherwise w/have a smaller movement, restricting to certain political persuasions only. Going mask-less is definitely one way to make a stand against issues. It's bold, daring, and takes bravery. But getting active, no matter the attire, w/always be better than sitting at home. IMHO
Liberty slips slowly. What is scary is seeing highly influential individuals on the nat sec council on AI calling for Ch1na-like mass surveillance increases, to "compete with AI". AI is a surveillance requirement technology.
