@@Subliminalsapper very sorry to hear that, many people do live without an ACL, it just makes things like pivoting or agility bursts a bit more difficult. Over time the knee can develop post traumatic arthritis. The big question would be your age and the quality of your cartilage and if you have any post surgical changes / arthritis / post traumatic damage to the cartilage. Many people who have these repeat tears may need to go on to early knee replacement. In the mean time conservative treatment options are what we usually prescribe to patients like nsaids, ice, brace, therapy, steroid injection , gel injection, trying to decrease inflammation. If quality of life is very poor or pain is constant and affects a person every day is when we lean towards replacement options.

Hey doc, can you make a video about MCL and other knee tears? I played football for over 20 years and my knees are both torn to shreds.. but I'm not sure if it's an ACL tear, MCL, or something else 🤔

Thank you for your video Dr
What do you think about the cross bracing protocol for managing full acl tears?
it seems promising......Additionally a lot of studies seem to show that rehab alone can have similar long term clinical outcomes!
nevertheless a study should be conducted testing surgery vs sham surgery and we need more research to find out which people are more likely to benefit from surgery
