- The Oakland A's are about to become simply "the A's" (also Athletics) after they make the temporary move to West Sacramento next season. Amanda Hari and Matt Lively report on the Bay Area reaction.
The owner of the A's is excited that his team is going to give up massive home runs to Aaron Judge in Sacramento? 🤔
Yes because Aaron Judge is from Sacramento, so it will be a return home.
Good point
Basically what he said, goes to show, he cares more about money, and not the the team.
Aron Judge is going to buy all the tickets for his family and friends when they come in to town... I think this is going to be awesome. I cant wait to see the players up close and you will be able to hear the glove pop behind the plate.
@@vincentramirez8188he is from linden California
John Fisher is counting on other teams' star players to attract fans to the stadium in Sacramento LOL!! That says all you need to know.
Aaron Judge which he mentioned was born and raised in Sacramento. It was a shoutout to the local talent.
He has local talent on his own team he could shout-out. The man is a terrible owner.
Just like that 💨 Oakland is no longer a sports towns. 😢
So glad to see it.
Technically it still is if you really want to watch pioneer league baseball or 2nd tier non MLS soccer teams. Unless you're totally pro oakland it's better than no sports at all but getting another major professional sports team is done. Maybe slight chance they lure a wnba team related to the Kings. I'm a bay area native but have no emotional attachment to the city of oakland other than being an A's and warriors fan. Done with mlb, no interest in following giants. And the clown show A's have run their franchisee last couple years. Makes it easier to cut ties
@@user-mm4nq7im4s and u the only one who is bum oaklands teams most likely has a better winning history over whoever u go for 😂
There is a shit ton of A's fans in Sac. I think this move might be perm once the attendance numbers start to come in. Las Vegas might not even happen. I just don't see people "tourists" on the strip thinking lets go to a baseball game in the evening/afternoon.
The A's are the nomads of MLB as they keep wandering from one place to another. From Philadephia to Kansas City to Oakland to Sacramental to Las Vegas? MLB wants to expand the game overseas, so maybe their next move should be to try their fate with either Baghdad or perhaps Kabul?
Whoops! I meant Sacramento. Sacramental is actually a heaven sent place located in the promised land, which probably wouldn't work out too well them.
The only thing Oakland is going to attract to develop that land is a prison.
😂😂😂
that's true but they could have built something in greater east bay; like the 9ers albeit south bay.
So no in n out
This is cool get to go too a giants game in my hometown
not going to. too much of a pain to get there weather public transport or otherwise. (far east bay)@@nicholasramos5919
“Investing our time in organizations and franchises that reciprocate the love that this fan base has shown”. As a marlins fan this is what people don’t get. You can’t have a terrible team like the A’s or Marlins , not make the post season in 20 years straight like the marlins besides last year and expect people to have any love for the team. After a team fire sells its players every other year and sells any good team they ever had, when they can’t make the post season 20 years straight why would any fan spend their hard earned cash when the marlins office seems as interested as John Fischers office. Then people stupidly say baseball doesn’t work in “Oakland, Florida”. Nothing works if you go 20 years with nothing to show. People think they understand this very nuanced issue because they also see the rays struggle but don’t realize that it’s a completely separate issue where the rays have fans but the stadium is an absolute unmitigated disaster to get to and leave
Lifetime Pirates fan...I will love my Bucs no matter how well or poorly they play, or how Nutting spends nothing on 'em.
@@leesalawitch1386 Delusional sports fan right here ^^^ Spending your hard earned money on a team that hasn’t gone to the post season in nearly 20 years is called not being a mindless consumer and being financially sensible. You cannot tell me it’s financially reasonable to spend time and money on a team whose organization doesn’t reciprocate at all the love fans have for the game/team. You’re allowed to be a mindless consumer, but fans have completely valid reasons for not spending their hard earned money on a team that has consistently shown they don’t care about the team whatsoever, don’t spend on competent leadership, they constantly move management in and out like a revolving door, the one year they made the playoffs in 20 years the Gm Kim had to fight the owner and management to made trade which eventually pulled off… but they gave her the boot anyway because they’ve no signs of changing in the majority of the existence. Little to no investment in scouting, always selling off their team with an eternal 20 year rebuild. Buying tickets to a team like this is the definition of insanity. Expecting people to go to games of a team that doesn’t reciprocate the love for the sport, even to a fraction of what the fans feel, is insane.
That's quite judgemental. PNC Park is the best MLB stadium. Pittsburgh has public transit and there's plenty of parking nearby. You do what you want with your Fandom and money , I'll do what I want
I wish news organizations would cover the TV contract status… that is almost as important as where they play.
You voted for it Oakland. Have fun
The City tried to charge the As 100 million a year right? That’s more then they probably bring in the whole season 😂
No, $97 mil over 5 years.
No an extra 100 mil on top of rent.
O sorry an extra 97 mill🤷🏻♂️
john fisher wanted the city to pay for a big chunk of it too. taxpayers shouldn't give handouts to cheap billionaires
Very intimate means crowded. Sac is in the 100°f in the summer. Bad move.😢
It’s ok more river cats fan come out than a’s fans already so when they get here there will be more fans than in Oakland. It’s not that hot when your not fat🤷🏻♂️
Wow almost 38!
This will make players be ready to get acclimated to the Las Vegas heat.
Not in the evening.
I love the hot weather.
Hey, Didn’t the A’s Relocate from Kansas City and Philadelphia before arriving in Oakland? The A’s Fans in Oakland witness 4 World Series Championships in a 70’s and 1 in the late 80’s. Moreover, It’s ridiculous to Worry about future Free Agent Players not wanting to play in an AAA Ballpark. Remember the time the Pipes backup and Flooded the Dugouts at the Oakland Ballpark?
They can move back to Philly!!
Based on their prior westward moves, only a move to Honolulu or Guam would make sense!
@@iamgermane Vegas Baby!

Even the airport wants nothing to do with oakland 😂😂 the mayor doesn't seem to care about the city's downfall
i will agree about oakland and the mayor but something in greater east bay; like walnut creek, or an unincorp. like crocket could have worked. lots of teams from many sports play in suburbs anymore. we all know about the 9ers but also the bengals (and god knows who else) come to mind.
So you're blaming the mayor for not giving a billionaire enough free money? LOL.
that mayor is a classic case of someone who wants everything and ends up with nothing. she also didn't want to have to compete (with vegas) when you're not willing to be competitive you LOSE.@@vincesmith2499
@@vincesmith2499Spot on, Stop blaming the mayor for not caving in to the absurd demands of the greedy MLB owners. No public dollars-especially hundreds of millions-should be wasted on subsidizing MLB franchises. This was nothing short of extortion by that POS Fischer.
Oakland needs a prison and bigger police stations
Should rebuild that entire sports area as a prison
The A's should be playing in San Jose by now. Shame that it came to this.
I wouldn't go to San Jose for front row seats to the second coming of Christ
@@ValleyProud916betters here in San Jose than Sac 😂
I love the move! 😍
So new and exciting! 🤩
Sad. Growing up in Chicago in the 80s I rooted for the A’s. Mark Mcgwire was my favorite player.
Ever since Fisher was the owner, the downfall of the A’s. Then everyone blames the City when they were doing great before.
So what is stopping you from rooting for the A’s? Same team, same history. Only now they will play to a full house instead of 200 fans
After the raiders and warriors left, this isn't surprising. They need to clean up the graffiti tent city. Just drive around the city....it's disgusting
Sounds like the As don't have a location problem, they have an owner problem. He should sell the team to someone who really cares about more than just how much green paper his green and yellow team produces. The city of St. Louis, Mo went through the same thing with two NFL owners. Bill Bidwell and Stan Kroenke produced NFL teams no one wanted to watch, trashed the city, packed up and moved to Glendale and Los Angeles, all to make the teams worth more. No different than what the A's owner is doing.
I feel worse for the players than I do the fans. He has the cheapest payroll in major league baseball, and instead of opening his wallet to produce a product that fans will want to see, like they did with Tony LaRussa, Mark McGwire, Ricky Henderson, Jose Canseco, and Dennis Eckersley in the late 80s, early 90s, Fisher would rather produce a bad product, blame the city and the fans, turn tail and run. Maybe that's why my family shops at Old Navy, Hollister, and Kohls, but we don't shop at the Gap. Good products get good results. That must be a lesson his parents never taught him.
It’s ironic he’s smiling when his fans are suffering pain
Yeah when was the last times the A's drew 14K?
Should have built them a new stadium. The one they have now is not fit for inmates to play in.
One Major Problem, getting out of that area after a River cats game is a major headache. There is one major road out of the park, unless you want to try to go over the tower bridge to Sacramento.
This move for Sac is all for nil. The city and Vivek are merely serving as the middle man.. Sacramento will be passed by when MLB considers a city for expansion.
Not necessarily. The A’s need $2 billion for the ballpark in Vegas and the public money is not guaranteed. If it falls through like San Jose, Fremont, Laney, and Howard Terminal. Sacramento can be the next Cisco Field candidate.
Nil….😂 nah we’re going upgrade our stadium to mlb status and they’re paying for it instead of us. They didn’t want to pay the city of Oakland an extra 100 mil for a failing venue with crime and traffic. So they’re coming here where we will support them. Listen to the news guy; he’s a salty hater😂. They’re gone already. Just wave good bye and let it be.
can sac support a MLB team
Nothing wrong with being middle man. It's just more business that didn't exist before bud. No loss for Sac, only gain.
@aeromtb2468 I think so. The Rivercats have been ranked the number 1 AAA team when it came to attendance. Now, with Oakland gone, Sac can take up the slack.especially being 90 miles from SF. Having 3 teams in the Bay Area......no.
The A's are taking a unique approach with their move from Oakland to Sacramento, leaving Las Vegas as a less likely option.
Are you confused?
uh they already signed a deal with Vegas
@@nofurtherwest3474 Well they still need to finalize the Stadium agreement but the original comment was the most out to lunch thing I've ever read.
The attendance at the Sacramento for A's game will attract A's fans or just baseball fan's ⚾️?
Glad to hear past As players don’t want to be associated with the Las Vegas As when they move. A few have mention not to put them in any team hall of fame at the new stadium.
A News Office should know what to do with a little dishonestly....
The statistic “Oakland violent crimes are 197.13% greater than the California average and 226.32% greater than the national average” indicates that the number of violent crimes in Oakland is significantly higher compared to both the state of California and the entire country. You surprise everyone is leaving?
Oakland is a very rough area and glad my Raiders moved out and now The A’s and Sacramento is a perfect temporary home for them.
sorry but spring training facilities are way better than AAA facilities
Not the first time they have moved. Previously the Philadelphia Athletics!
Just like other teams in the last few decades.
They were in Kansas City in between Philadelphia and Oakland.

It’s on the city of Oakland how in the world do you lose three franchisees that is just impossible to do that I don’t know. Did they do it?
Oakland lost all four Big Four North American pro sports League teams to relocation.
Hell, even the Oakland Panthers Indoor Football League team moved to San Jose to become the Bay Area Panthers without playing a game inside Oakland Arena.
Now, Oakland only has the Roots soccer team and the Ballers independent league baseball club to root for.

Delusional to think they're gonna attract another NFL or MLB team......
They MAY be able to sell out a game now....but I doubt it.
Feel for the fans but the city had over a decade to build a new stadium and didn't. When you lose 3 teams within a decade maybe it's not the teams fault but the cities
As a Braves guy, the Athletics need to return to North Philadelphia. The more successful franchise needs to return home.
from sport to crime, the legacy of Oakland. Blame the politicians and the idiots who keep them in power.
A's should not sell their share of the coliseum. If the city of Oakland really want it, the A's should sell it at the highest price and stick it to the city.
It’s a hard sell when the other half of land is owned by the “African American Sports and Entertainment Group. It’s hard to get the “White or Emirates Development Group” to buy the other half at top dollar to compete.
Well it is too easy to blame it on Fisher who owns the last remaining professional sports team leaving Oakland "because of money".
Feel for the fans. It's the problem with American sports it's a franchise and not a club so move wherever the owners want. Without fans sports is nothing
A's have a lousy team. I don't think Oakland should be all that sad about them leaving.
Exactly! When the Raiders announced that they were leaving Oakland, it was after making it to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years, which made the news hurt more. But, hey eff them and eff the A’s!!
Oakland fans, we welcome you to Sacramento.
We already have alot of A's fans here in Sac too
Both of them.
Ebanizer Scrooge Fisher: “You will be able to watch some of the best players in baseball.” Unfortunately, he was not referring to any of the current players on the Triple A’s due to his trading the best players so he would not have to pay them fair market value.
The Orioles and Rays have a tight budget, but make it work. The athletics cab do the same with a good front office.
@@briangasser973 So trading. all their best players in the same year and spending zero money on replacement players is a winning strategy. All they need is Jesus who can turn shit players into MVP players. You let me know when that happens.

Let’s put it this way; even West Sacramento puts the area around the Oakland Coliseum to absolute shame.
Had I lived in the Bay Area I would not go to Sacramento and give any of my money to John Fisher.
The crime rate in Oakland is horrendous. The city has such a bad reputation. Let's focus on the most pressing issue instead of a baseball franchise that hardly anyone cares about.
They played in the Oakland “coliseum” so it’s doubtful the players will shed many tears.
All 7 fans are upset.
Time to bring relegation rules to MLB
Fisher and Kaval are snakes . This team really needed new ownership/management, moving to Sacramento/Vegas won't make them a better baseball team. It's hard to be a loyal fan to a team with the leadership such as theirs.
