    I love learning the KFC trivia and history! Actually back in the early 90s when I was going to college, the KFC all you can eat buffet was available in our restaurant. I went there with my mom several times and you could basically pay one price and there was no time limit you could just sit there and eat chicken all day if you wanted LOL I wish they still had the apple pie and the strawberry shortcake which they got rid of, and I remember one time being able to try some of their other sides that we don't have on the west coast like greens and baked beans, really depends on what area of the country you are as to what you're going to get and in Canada the coleslaw was completely different and they even had poutine as a side! Love it!

      It used to be it took 40 minutes to fry chicken in a restaurant. Sanders used a pressure fryer that cut the time to minutes. And yes the coating is special but Sander's real invention was how he cut the chicken. He got 11 pieces while the competitors only got 7. That's the real secret...

    • @occheermommy
      @occheermommy Год назад +2

      How could he get 11. I know he cut the breast into 3 pieces instead of 2 but that means 3 breast, 2 legs, 2 thighs, 2 wings. Thats 9. If dont see where it would be 7 really. The chicken is symmetrical. So if you dont have the center breast thing that they did at KFC its still 8. I dont even think they do the center breast anymore anyway.

    Did you know that DC comics and KFC actually did a comic where Col. Sanders fights his arch nemesis which is essentially an evil knockoff version of himself. Then in the sequel the nemesis steals all knowledge of the secret recipe for KFC's chicken from all versions of Col. Sanders throughout the multi-verse except for seven of them which each remembers one of the ingredients. So the version of Col. Sanders from the gender swap dimension where the Col. is a female gets the female version of the flash to power a dimension hopping machine and gather all the versions of Col. Sanders that remember the pieces of the recipe together to fight the evil nemesis guy. No joke they seriously made this.

    I've had KFC a few times one Xmas (eve) as not much was open & we didn't feel like cooking, we we're still hungry after having Xmas lunch w/family.

    I used to love KFC but now I find that there is no uniformity of taste between stores here in Toronto. Some outlets seem to not change their oil fast enough or maybe cook at wrong temperature or something and the chicken ends up really greasy. Others still make yummy chicken. I also miss the Grecian Bread they used to have back in the day.

    As a kid in the early '60s, mom would often get a bucket of chicken from the Colonel.
    There wasn't really a lot of fast food back then.

      Yeah I was born in 71 and sometimes when mom didn’t want to cook she would pick up a bucket on the way home. Up until she died it was one of the few meats I could get her to eat. Protein became a problem to get her to eat. She had Alzheimer’s. The last couple months we couldn’t do KFC anymore because I gave her a piece one day and she ate half of a wing bones and all before I realized it. We didn’t do anything with bones after that. Sorry for the tangent but it made me think of it.

    You guys should do a video about Lee Cummings, the founder of Lee's Famous Recipe chicken. He was Colonel Sanders' nephew and had worked for the Colonel before starting his own restaurant chain.

    I miss the all you can eat buffet that was at KFC here and other places.
    Here it was years ago but in a borough not so far away had a buffet before the pandemic but they closed it up and made the excuse the pandemic hurt them .. nope I say they were just finding an excuse to close up the buffet and get rid and shut down the taco bell that was right along with them
    Yes kfc did have buffets almost all across the u.s
