@@realzyxtomatic Imagine the freewheel at 100kph, they are not designed for that. If that jams, your pedals start going.... I had it happen at low speed, I've stopped running with a chain too for that reason.
Maybe... or it was a poor quality freewheel or had an internal defect. If your bike can go 100km/h why take a chance of that mode of failure? Riding at high speed, my biggest concern is mechanical failure and I try to take all steps to avoid it.
A friend of a friend modified his bike to be electrical. He used a really powerful motor (don't know how powerful) on a normal bike that was quite old. It worked for a few months until he was confident enough to give it full throttle. The motor was too powerful to handle it and it ripped the bike apart^^ I would really like to have a bike like this. But unfortunately in my country electric bikes are limited to 25 km/h and the cops are giving out tickets. :(
Wait, what if you went regular bike and drove it faster than that? Last summer I did 55kmph (about 30-35mph) and had to drive in the lane on a highway of sorts to manage that. Was quite fun, albeit, exhausting.
@@YTHandlesWereAMistake That's totally allowed. The law is also a bit more complicated as I made it look like. If your bike only supports your pedaling it can support you up to 25 km/h. After that the support has to stop. If you manage to got faster without the support just by pedaling that is totally allowed. If you can use the motor without pedaling the max speed is 20 km/h with motor and you need a license plate and a driver license. Here you have a max allowed speed of 45 km/h without the motor support. Oh and you aren't allowed to modify or change parts. Or build your own bike. It has to be how the manufacturer sold it to you. Oh an the max power the motor is allowed to have is 500W....
Pro Tip: The reason the chain broke is from the tons of torque forcing the suspension to squat HARD lengthening the chain distance requirement combined with the most important variables, long rear travel and the chain being too short with a short cage deraulier. The same will happen on any FS bike if the travel is not accounted for at full swing arm extension with the bike being in the largest cog on the back and largest chain ring in the front, thought, that is a naughty chainline. :D

I'm using a Juiced Bikes Crosscurrent X for daily commute. As far as speed is concerned, in Nevada it's the fastest I could go where I run little to no risk of a cop looking for an easy person to ticket pulling me over for how fast I'm going. I don't need to register or insure the bike, nor do I need insurance. I've seen faster electric bikes on the street with license plates. I am unfamiliar with offroad laws here but I imagine they're lenient, and there are probably plenty of trails that would be really fun to ride.
I can't ride flat pedals I have tried on my hardtail enduro bike, but after 20 years of riding clipped in on road bikes, you learn how to spin, and so trying to ride flats I keep pulling up and lose contact with the pedal.LOL :-) it's crazy how muscle memory works, went back to being clipped in.

For legality in the UK (and I think the EU): It can't go over 15.5mph under its own power. If you're pedalling and you go over 15.5mph, the motor MUST NOT be active. If you go down a hill and exceed 15.5 mph, the motor MUST NOT be active. As with all adult-size bicycles, it must be fitted with a front light, and rear reflector, not ridden on public footpaths, and proper head protection must be worn at all times while operating the bike. Now, I've seen plenty of people riding on the pavement without a helmet on, and the police culture is generally to not fuck with people who aren't causing issues for others, but if you blow by someone on the road with a bike like this, or do even a single mph over the speed limit, you're almost guaranteed to get it confiscated. To get around the 15.5mph limit you must: * Have a bike that has the right tires, rear view mirrors, lighting and indication, registration plate, and all other things that motorbikes need; * Undergo MSVA for the vehicle (assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/774206/motorcycle-single-vehicle-approval.pdf); * Be in possession of a UK driving license of the right category, (AM to go up to 28mph, A1 for up to 11kW power output (and not exceeding 0.1kW/kg), A2 for up to 35kW power output (and not exceeding 0.2kW/kg), or A for anything else), probably A1; * Register the vehicle, insure yourself for the vehicle, and tax the vehicle (free for purely electric vehicles at the moment). Essentially, you'll be better off buying a naked bike with a fucked up transmission or engine, gutting it, and replacing the power plant with an electric one. Doing so will get you a fun project, a bike that hits 60 as fast as you dare to let it, and really cheap transport. Mid engine will be your best bet as hub motors for motorbike tires aren't a thing yet. If you're looking to fabricate motorbike hub motors, I want your contact details. Can you tell I'm doing this?

Coming from manual transmission ICE land, electric vehicles are weird, there are no gears, no revs, no superchargers or turbochargers. How do you get the right amount of torque to the rear wheel when you are in a lean? Is there engine braking?
In a weird way, there is a kind of form of engine braking where you have regenerative braking. Which in terms of feel is almost like engine braking. The weirdest part for me is the lack of having no clutch for smooth starts, as when I'm on my motorcycle I'm used to feathering the clutch for that buttery smooth starts. But instead, it has the feel of a CVT where you simply use less throttle for your start and just let the bike do its own thing.

i want this. last time i was looking around everything under 1k looked like junk and they quickly go up to like 5k AUD and thats insane. really getting the feeling im going to have to build my own. would of been nice to have some links to the parts
This probably cost over $1000 AUD (I’d use a bicycle at least half that, assuming you got a really nice deal on a used one). A 72v 20Ah battery is about $650 by itself (US price), and a motor kit is actually only going to cost you like $200, but a bike that can safely handle the speed and that battery really drive it up! Also this would not be legal unless classified as a motorcycle for most parts of the world. But you can certainly build some nice ones!
About 1/3 if I were to guess, the battery efficiency for lithium based batteries goes to crap around freezing temp at, so they are very bad for the winter, also power output becomes garbage. It’s not a lot of power wasted on the controller so the LN2 cooling won’t help much for it, but I did think about water cooling mine (shunt modded, also may change out with 180 amp continuous drain mosfets, peak safe would then be at least 400 amps, so Lipo battery required).

Maybe... or it was a poor quality freewheel or had an internal defect.
The motor was too powerful to handle it and it ripped the bike apart^^
I would really like to have a bike like this.
@@YTHandlesWereAMistake
That's totally allowed.
This is extremely fascinating I have been researching and planing for years to build a e-bike similar to this one I had some questions at Aprox what speed would get your the furthest at what distance? What battery motor controller combo did you buy? What frame? Thanks and great job
Need a longer cage tensioner to deal with all the chain growth from a high pivot frame. Those shorter ones will keep getting ripped off the hanger.
If you have not seen it... Check out the Luna Sur Ron ebike/motorcycle. Super affordable compared to most.
They're tiny. If you're 5' or less maybe it could work for you.
@@offgridphilosophy7959 they are. I'm too big. Forgot to mention.
Just too loud still. Gonna wait for Sur Ron to release the FireFly 2 with a silent belt drive as default.
Wayne's world! Party on, Garth! Most excellent.
after owning a stealth Ebike, the only comparison would be the Sur-Ron. OR a FUTR beta frame, thats the updates stealth frame for a DIY build.
the NYX carbon frame looks nice but god damn, that things worth the price of a stealth and thats just the NYX frame
What an awesome bike!
Can we get a component list? I was looking at a Stealth since I’m in Aus but this seems better 😀
I had no idea you'd uploaded this vid. I'm a fairly new sub to your main channel.
I hear square wave ;)
That is a cool bike if only they were legal here in the UK! good to see, thanks all.
I like that helmet. It looks lightweight but like it would offer some decent protection.
What a bromance! You guys have a lot in common.
Pure off the shelf bad assery.i wish I had an extra 3k,to get those components some aluminum plate and some good cabinet grade plywood to build something similar
@KingPin
Would you mind to put a parts list in the comments?
I think he won't, since it's business
I'm using a Juiced Bikes Crosscurrent X for daily commute. As far as speed is concerned, in Nevada it's the fastest I could go where I run little to no risk of a cop looking for an easy person to ticket pulling me over for how fast I'm going. I don't need to register or insure the bike, nor do I need insurance. I've seen faster electric bikes on the street with license plates. I am unfamiliar with offroad laws here but I imagine they're lenient, and there are probably plenty of trails that would be really fun to ride.
You should check out the suron ebike or one of luna cycles new ebikes.
With all of that power,I would be afraid that my BGAs would get zapped in a rain storm.
My dad has a Specialised Turbo Levo, that thing is ridiculously fun.
This Ebike is outrageous!
65-70mph at 72v 100amps..
Hmmm.. I'd like to see the GPS data logs showing that speed.
I'm rocking same setup pretty much cromotor v2 modded but 200amps @ 72/84v and I'm at about 60mph.
You are probably top speed limited by the motor kv, not power (it spins no faster with the wheel in the air).
7200w 65mph is doable with a big tuck, but you are right 115kph/70mph is probably that POS display's miscalibrated wheel size.
That thing is SICK!
G'day Steve,
That Bike is Crazy, it can break every speed limit on Australian Roads,
I've got those Maxxis HookWorms on my BMX & I love them, they have so much grip
What kickstand is that and any link? Awesome video guys.
Bros. Talking bikes! Hell yeah!
Hey, what size battery are you running? I built a 48 volt 1000 watt bike, now I'm planning a 5000 watt build next! Cool vid!.. oh and these bikes are a blast, I look forward to getting up each day just to ride!
E-bikes are such a gamechanger!
Would like to see you do some videos with actual ebikes rather than this death machine.
re chains, for single speed setup, the final step, simply upsize the rear cog, eg by one tooth
Didn't mention how much it all cost, I've been sourcing all the parts needed and I reckon I could build one for around £2000 or there abouts which is really cheap considering they start at around £7000 ready built
What is the name of this bike brand?
Place to buy one?

I've been thinking about building an ebike but they get expensive as hell real quick
Back in the day guys who had middle life crisis bought sport cars, now e-bikes.
I am one of them now 😀. I still have a C63, X5M, Z3, 4Runner, and now an ebike - Super73
But how were the thermals?
we need a xoc e-bike challenge
Already got mine shunt modded, and you can over-volt them, especially if you modify the mosfets! Cooling actually can become a problem, the first thing I thought of was LN2!
I was waiting for that thing to take off through the wall while they kept touching the throttle lol
Can we get more details about parts and suppliers please? Love that bike
Easy peasy- and it works!!
Man! Now I want one. My heart is pumping so fast! 😂😂😂
I've been 60 miles an hour once on a regular road bike, down Highway 9. Once.
You think its fast now, wait till TiN gets his hands on that controller and rebuilds it. You know he will at some point. When it comes to power phases TiN is a Wizard!
For legality in the UK (and I think the EU):
It can't go over 15.5mph under its own power.
To get around the 15.5mph limit you must:
* Have a bike that has the right tires, rear view mirrors, lighting and indication, registration plate, and all other things that motorbikes need;
* Undergo MSVA for the vehicle (assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/774206/motorcycle-single-vehicle-approval.pdf);
* Be in possession of a UK driving license of the right category, (AM to go up to 28mph, A1 for up to 11kW power output (and not exceeding 0.1kW/kg), A2 for up to 35kW power output (and not exceeding 0.2kW/kg), or A for anything else), probably A1;
* Register the vehicle, insure yourself for the vehicle, and tax the vehicle (free for purely electric vehicles at the moment).
Can you tell I'm doing this?
been past police many times on my bike never an issue
There is a speed limit on e bikes in the UK but you don't need to wear head protection or have lights. I went over 15 mph in a non e bike especially downhill. And you do not need a license or plates for an e bike
@@girlsdrinkfeck So have I. My friends have also smoked weed around police, and my ex manager used to hold illegal raves and the police just occasionally politely asked him to shut it down.

Bikes don't have a speed limit, but at over 15.5mph, the motor MUST NOT be providing power.

can you list the name and brand or even better the purchase link for the quad brakes you guys talked about?
HOLY SHIT I NEED 1 OF THESE!
Word of Advice,
when going so fast you need to get waist strap to keep your kidneys warm.
Or you will get organ issues later on.
This is a typical long term damage for scooter, motorbike and moped riders.
Never heard of that and am a motorbike rider.
@@wobblysauce Well then, better Look into it! In Germany everyone wears them
Hum... might be more of a fashion thing... oh what are you wearing? but trace it back to someone with back pain.
Also a motorcyclist from a family of motorcyclists and have never heard of this. I know of kidney belts from motorcross as a protection against falls. Cursory Google also didn't yield much. Have sauce for your info?
Ok so I looked it up, with kidney Belt and the is some stuff, it is mostly to prevent your back from being chilled from the Wind so it does Not cramp up. It also is Not proven that kidney failures are come from this, but in my biker community in germany they All wear them.
So i Look at Louis.eu and Wikipedia
How can i contact this Vince guy? I also live in Taiwan an am looking to build a ebike myself. Cheers for any help
i got a diy 2000w, 52v 40amp current, also nice :D on my mountainbike.
What about a breakdown of everything you put on the bike ?
They still sell them tires i just got 3 sets they are hard to find thats why i got 3 sets... I'm building a phatmoto rover 2020 (mine is great) but a stealth bomber is my dream bike
Its not capable of 8000w if it only has a 100a contoller. Youd need a 150a controller to actually get 8000w of power. The maximum output of a 100a ontroller is only around 5000w. Just thought id clarify that...
i want this. last time i was looking around everything under 1k looked like junk and they quickly go up to like 5k AUD and thats insane. really getting the feeling im going to have to build my own. would of been nice to have some links to the parts
Bike parts, including frame and shocks - $1000
Motor and controller - $500
Battery - $500 for 1,5kWh, $1000 for 3kWh.
I wish I could find a frame like that that would take a mid drive motor.
That frame has been converted for a mid drive in the past. Check Endless Sphere
Where did you get the battery controller and motor my dude 🙏🏻🙏🏻
That is badass, i want one. Would definitely wear some protective gear. Maybe some leather haha.
Those bikes are only 3600 bucks from china. Granted they could use a few upgrades, but keeping the power/speed down low it isnt bad.
How much more range could he get if it the battery and controller were LN2 cooled? Let's find out!
1 of a lipo batteries in that Rig? 2.is that a Ohlins shark in the back?3 absolute badass rig-Aplus plus plus+++

It depends if you measure in Rossmann M/H or average MP/H.
.999999999999999999999999
I take it the speed limit in NY for vehicles in this class is below 20 mph? Otherwise, I'm missing an inside joke, somewhere.
@@joesterling4299 yeah, NY has a law banning all motor assisted vehicles from being capable of doing 20 MPH, the inside joke I was refering to was another youtuber Louis Rossmann (he mostly does macbook repair vids). It is not just a speed limit, you can get the vehicle permamtly confiscated.
Nice speed but what about range?
Pretty sick, atmo. Regarding the cheaper side of e-bikes, have you considered the Arrow e-bikes? Every time I'm in NYC I see these things positively everywhere. I'm pretty sure they're type-II but some of them were definitely keeping up with traffic leading me to think some of the chinatown ebike shops must mod the controllers. Could also just be the newer models, like the arrow-9 that some people claims goes 30+ mph which is definitely in type-3 range. For 1500 bucks, maybe an option given their ubiquity in Manhattan. See link for a little reading. Not actually sure where you buy them new. endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=89258
tldr: ~$1500 for an arrow-9 ebike that might be type-3 spec, throttle control, manhattan bike delivery syndicate approved and NYPD disapproved.
