I should have listened to my dad and become an engineer.
Amazing work!
haha I hope your just joking. Otherwise trust me you can easily learn to work as an engineer even without having a engineering degree.
@@Pryside exactly
engineers are bad at building things. mechanics / tinkers / hobbyist are way better. Engineers are better at paperwork then them. Thats what engineers do: paperwork.
@@Pryside There never too fast !!! prove me wrong....
Bruh you dont need a to graduate that you just need to watch RUclips videos to how
"I don't wanna be caught in the city with my illegal build" - uploads a couple of vids about the illegal build to youtube. Uncensored.
Nontouchable Remember that it's only considered a crime if you're caught. 😂 JK,don't break the law kids, jail or prison is a place where no one wants to be.
Why would it be illegal? It's only a bike with a electric motor
Random Hobbies in Germany there are different laws on bikes. Like 25kmh max.
@Got_nuffin_on_me well I live in America.. And I'm sure there's laws for bicycles with electric motors on it.. Not enforced.. So we do what we want.. 🇺🇸 For the most part

Interested in building a bike similar to this. I hope Leo comes back and uploads the build videos as I have so many questions but it's been nearly 7 months now.
Alter was für eine krasse Power, da kannst du an der Ampel vieles stehen lassen. Die Power in Verbindung mit einem Fate-Bike, das würde glaube ich maximal Spaß machen. Geiles Video 👍😎👍 Weiter so!
Oh man, nach den letzten drei Minuten bin ich sowas von gehyped auf die Videos, die (hoffentlich) kommen zu dem Bike. Richtig geiles Zeug!
I'm REALLY hoping you kept up on this series because it is EXACTLY what I need! Great start! Thanks
I’ve got a black max 750W cruiser with 20” wheels, $1,600 ... This bike literally pulls little wheelies with my 220lb frame , it actually goes 25 mph, just 5mph over the listed speed and frankly scared me for the first week I owned it.. I get looks all day long and a minimum of 3 people will thumbs up or tell me what a cool bike it is. So far I only have just under 1,000 miles but ZERO issues. These things are absolutely the coolest invention since bread and butter.
Amazing work of art, this is what inspire me to make of myself an engineer. Hope you continúe this route and maybe think of an ev road legal high range low weight car

Really EXITED for the next Video !!
I want to build my Own Ebike to once this Covid Lockdown is over … Your next video will be really helpful as im very new to Ebikes.
Great work Leo. This is amazing. Quite a good commuter for anyone. The price is more reasonable and it’s more inspiring than anything you can buy on the market! I believe a big thick thru axel design for the motor would be nice. Your solution was very smooth too, but for doing wheelies you probably want the modulation and control of a disc brake. (That intro was sick by the way!)
Of course it will be cheaper because he did his own labor and r&d, and did not have to build tooling for mass production.
I absolutely love this kind of madness and engineering. Well done!
E-bikes are a delightful hobby. It's a right bloody shame that the authorities are so hard-assed about it here in Canada. I've been threatened with prison sentences for building e-bikes, and even had many thousands of dollars worth of my hobby equipment stolen by the police--home invasions, numerous counts of grand theft, threatened with prison, essentially gangstalked over e-bikes. We're a fucked up country.
@@devilsoffspring5519 what are you talking about on what grounds would the police raid you for electronics
@@travisfelhaber7481 Because it exists. They have a BIG problem with it here.
@@devilsoffspring5519 maybe is about how you ride, If you keep a low profile most of the time they don't give a shit, but if you're the kind of rider speeding all the time, getting on the sidewalks, reproducing music on speakers and with a shit ton of led color lights, they will go after you
@@noericardo1490 No it's not. I mostly just rode mine like a normal bike and never get in anyone's way or make a nuisance of myself. I'm not that kind of person. THEY are.
Having broken an aluminum frame a few times carrying a heavy battery on the top tube, I recommend using a steel frame for your custom build... unless you have a downhill bike as the donor which is much stronger than most other Al mountain bikes. The slight weight difference will not be noticed.
I would rather build my own bike the way I want it nice and strong.
I built an ebike that's too fast. Here's how I define "too fast": Every time I ride it, I blow spokes on the rear wheel. How you get away with a solid rear suspension, I don't know. Maybe all your roads and paths are smooth? In Denver and Lakewood Colorado, USA, riding in the city is so rough, you need a full-suspension bike to go over 50kpm. I've had mine up to 65kph. Pavement has potholes, buckled seams, debris, etc. Even with fat tires, and seat suspension, it blows spokes all the time. You have a very practical bike, and I'm glad it works so well in your area. Well thought-out.
I was thinking the same wtf
I went thru the exact issue. I blew out spokes on a hardtail only lasted 10 miles then switched to full suspension 3600 miles later rim brake worn out rim walls motor still good now switched to disc brake with new hubmotor 6800 miles, my mid drive is on standby since 4yrs way too much torque only use in as backup if other ebikes go down.
ripping spokes has 0 to do with actual torque and more how you mount your spokes. they are really short and get mounted in a wierd angle they were never engineered for. thus if you dont take measurements against that they definitly will rip. I added a sort of "washer" underneath every spoke on both ends and used rims that dont straighten your spokes at all. Thus the angle doesnt hurt them so much. That way your spokes will survive
to your other question, we have great roads in germany, dont need any suspension here.
@@Pryside It's not the torque or how it's mounted that breaks my spokes. It's all the potholes and bumps that break my spokes. The city roads and paths in my city are so horrible that to drive anything over them with spokes will destroy them. What I've done is I bought motorcycle spokes that are twice as thick as the original bicycle spokes. Now I wonder if hitting a bump will rip the spoke heads our of my rims? I don't think it's worth anyone's effort to build an ebike that goes faster than 50kph without full-suspension. I plan to eventually have someone custom-weld a frame to my specifications. This frame will have full-suspension. BTW, I noticed in your video that your town has some very nice, smooth streets and paths. Where I live, the temps range from -20F up to 110F. This annual temperature variation, plus freezing moisture within cracks, destroys pavement.
it's not "too fast", just sloppy build and bad design xD
Ready for the next video! Thinking of doing a setup like this!
I really love your view point on..
1 Riding with friends(backseat)
2 Removable and light battery
Super! I plan on making one as well this isolation season

I've had an ebike for 2 days. Gotta say, this summer is going to be more fun! I went with the RadRunner 1 with center console for storage. It'll get me to work in 15 minutes vs 7 minutes in my car(with good lights). Looking forward to saving gas and having fun at the same time!
haha really nice. radbikes are awesome, really love their designs :)
thank you for sharing your build experience. I just began my journey with electric vehicles. I want a small portable bike that i can use to get to my hunting spots quietly. it doesn't need to travel far. It would be great if it had power to drag a deer. It can be slow. these are all the opposite traits bikes are being built for. I'm guessing small wheels are a good choice. I like the step through designs. I also think I probably want 2 wheel drive. if you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated. I will be looking more at building my own since your video motivated me.

“I even went 60km” *laughs in Roadbike*
I love how my ebike that can reach 40kmh is illegal but a roadbike that can reach 60kmh is legal.
@@Phantogram2 I've complained about this for years here in Canada, a pedal-biker gets completely overlooked because he's pedalling, but an ebike going over 32 km/h is an "offense". Nothing but dirty looks, raided workshops and thousands of dollars in stolen property courtesy of the constabulary.
But, in Canada, serial rapists gets ignored and ebikes are confiscated along with a prison warning.
