Ferruccio Lamborghini, an Italian manufacturing magnate, founded Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1963 to compete with established marques, including Ferrari.
The company gained wide acclaim in 1966 for the Miura sports coupé, which established rear mid-engine, rear wheel drive as the standard layout for high-performance cars of the era. Lamborghini grew rapidly during its first decade, but sales plunged in the wake of the 1973 worldwide financial downturn and the oil crisis. The firm's ownership changed three times after 1973, including a bankruptcy in 1978.
American Chrysler Corporation took control of Lamborghini in 1987 and sold it to Malaysian investment group Mycom Setdco and Indonesian group V'Power Corporation in 1994. In 1998, Mycom Setdco and V'Power sold Lamborghini to the Volkswagen Group where it was placed under the control of the group's Audi division.

Just want to point out that he did not buy the companies really himself, but Volkwagen (or one of their many daughter companies) bought them. Piëch was the CEO of Volkswagen and still is a shareholder. So yeah he is fucking rich but he did not buy three companies in one year. Besides that they "only" bought two companies and one brand. They bought Rolls-Royce, without getting the rights to the Rolls Royce brand, BMW got that one, in 1997. In 1998 Volkswagen bought Lambo and the brand rights for "Bugatti".

Ferrari didn't care. He always considered building street cars as an accessory activity of his race team. When the Miura was presented (1966) Ferrari was much more concerned about his rivalry with Ford at Le Mans.

Just a thing, in minute 11:05, the photo of the Lamborghini isn't the Gallardo, it is the Aventador. The Gallardo had a more square old design without so many angular lines in its design. I had a black Lambo once .... it was one of those you wind back and release, eventually the spring mechanism broke and I complained to Ferrucio, he told me to stick to stuff animals because I was driving it incorrectly.

fun fact: porsche and piëch family actually have majority stake at Volkswagen, and they do reverse branding to make Volkswagen as parent company as it more profitable to do so

No, the Gallardo sold 7221 units in several of its different forms according to www.lambocars.com/lambonews/lamborghini_production_how_many_units_per_model.html. Definitely their best selling car.

The only negative about these videos is the lack of research into photos, I've noticed it a few times. Not that I'm complaining, I still love the videos. But the photos could use some improvement

I believe the the helicopter drawing at around 15:00 was the Hughes 500. My favorite chopper ever. It's featured in an exciting movie called "Birds of Prey " starring David Jansen from the tv series "The Fugitive " Wish I was there when Lamborghini told Enzo where to go. Great coverage. 👍

Duude, great video. But Im doubting its accuracy. Since you have mistaken sooo many images in the video. Some are for example the image of Pinochet or the Aventador instead of the gallardo.
The script behind the video is solid, we just slipped on the quality control for the editing. But yeah, I totally get where you're coming from and in the future we'll be keeping a much closer eye on the image sourcing.
Just something to improve in the next one.

I would’ve never guessed Lamborghini was struggling in the 80s there’s a whole bunch of movies that have a Lamborghini in it from that time and the wedge look from the 80s is the definitive super car look for all super cars and Lamborghini started the trend i’ll never own one my Dodge pick up truck 4 x 4 it’s probably the best I’ll ever get but I drive a Lambo in my dreams
