Dio at his best. I don’t think he ever topped the vocals he did with Rainbow, not with Black Sabbath or Dio. Blackmore just seemed to write the right music to capitalize on Dio’s pipes. I know that Blackmore, as great of a guitar god as he is, is a self absorbed narcissist, so I don’t blame Dio for moving on. They made some great music together. Stargazer is Dio’s masterpiece.
I agree, Wolverine. I think on the first two solo albums Holy Diver and Last In Line, Ronnie was shooting for kind of a Long Live Rock and Roll type Rainbow sound.
Stargazer is Blackmore's masterpiece, he came up with the music as he did for all of Rising, Dio left because Blackmore wanted more commercial music, Blackmore was carrying the costs of the band and was losing quite a bit of money which he needed record sales to get any return and he wanted Dio to accommodate this lyrically, according to people around the band Dio was also getting quite a large ego and it wasn't all down to Blackmore when he left.
Depends on who you ask. I love Rainbow but there are definitely better hard rock bands. Plus, they more or less contributed to the creation of the dorkiest genre of music there is, Power Metal

I just bought the tribute album to Ronnie James Dio. I have to say it is totally awesome. Thanks to all bands that identified that Dio contributed greatly to the rock and roll genre. He really did put you into another world.
One of the best synth intro ever. Mr. Tony Carey was in a celestial state of grace. I was told that Ritchie Blackmore hated this intro and the man who created it, because it overshadowed his leading role, so he kicked out the keyboardist. He's a great guitarist, one of the most influential rock musicians of all times - no doubt about it - but what a stupid man...
Andrea Simonetto I very much agree, when will most musicians see the bigger picture, that the overall sound/connections are mostly what matters, oh but if most musicians can just pretend they don't know something, then maybe they can sit back like the rest of us (non-musicians) [truth be told I do get into poetry quite heavily which might explain the lyrical draw to this] & just enjoy things for what they are. Set aside egos, and just do what people did in the 70's---just go with the flow, not against it.
I sorta doubt that story. Rainbow was Blackmore's band and he wasn't noted for putting up with much that he didn't like. If he had hated it, he could have and probably would have cut it. Since he was the primary composer for the band, it is probably just as likely that it was his idea. Blackmore didn't kiss a lot of ass or take a lot of shit off people, so he wasn't the most loved guy around. There are all kinds of stories from people that he pissed off, but there are usually two sides to those stories. A number of those stories were from prima donna singers he wouldn't allow to take over his bands. Deep Purple was also Richie and Jon Lord. Everyone else was replaceable. In just about every rock band, there are one or two guys who define the band. Other's come and go, or hang around for the duration, but they don't define the sound. Lennon and McCartney could have replaced George and Ringo and the Beatles music would have changed very little. Page and Plant could have replaced anyone else in Zeplin without major alteration, in fact Plant could probably have been replaced with someone like Dio; but take Page out and Zeplin is no longer Zeplin; because Page did virtually all the composing. Take Townsend out of The Who, there is no Who left for the same reason. CCR broke up because Fogerty was the lead singer, lead guitarist, and wrote all the songs; and other band members wanted an equal share of the money. Now it is barely possible to tell what is a CCR, or a Fogerty without looking at the labels. Rainbow was Blackmore's band. Everyone else was hired help.
"Page and Plant could have replaced anyone else in Zeplin without major alteration, in fact Plant could probably have been replaced with someone like Dio; but take Page out and Zepplin is no longer Zeplin; because Page did virtually all the composing" I stopped taking you seriously after this line, every member of LZ was unique in it's own way especially JPJ and he was also the main reason Led Zeppelin stayed together most of those years. Also if you still want proof that each LZ member can't be built without any of the first lineup it's that they disbanded when bonham died. Songs in which each of the members shine When the Levee Breaks :Bonham's Drum Achilles Last Stand : JPJ on Bass Kashmir: Page's Guitar and their most famous song, Whole Lotta Love: Plant's orgasms.
And this refutes my points how? did you just ignore me pointing out that JPJ was the one who composed and that even the group said they disbanded because they didn't want anyone other than bonham to play the drums?
Класс! Жаль, что нет русских отзывов, хотя в 70х эта вещь Гадалка, орала из окон общаг с бобинных магнитофонов гораздо чаще Stairway to Heaven, or Hotel California
I always saw neon pulsing lights in my head with that intro. First time I heard it was at a party in Ti NY in January 1977, afternoon keg party. I was sharing a pipe of lung expanding Columbian Red and I remember staring at the record on this Sansui Turntable. Guy had sound throught the whole house BOSE speakers wow. Crystal clear. I would kill to have a band backing me up singing this song. I didnt have the range then but I do now at 63 years old.
When I was in the Navy my friend Jeff Cosby used to do "top ten lists ". Once we did metal albums. Not surprisingly Rainbow Rising ended up in both of our top 5s. Still great all these years later.
Tony Carey and his magical synth is what makes this incredible song!!! Not Blackmore but Tony Carey!!! It would great that synth based hard rock bands would born!!!!
Go back and listen to Blackmore's solo. Both Carey and Blackmore make the song. It wasn't a fucking competition. I can't stand the stupidity of so many Blackmore-hating lemmings.

I believe they changed home arena, a couple of years ago, from Upton Park, why, I don´t know. Your boys will be playing today at The Den, 16:00. Hope for a great match and that they will be able to beat Milwall. As for Arsenal, I intend to agree, they really need to sharpen up, a lot. Did you see Deep Purple at Hofstra University ´73? Great, was it? Jon Lord is remarkable here. My favorite record with Gillan is Glory road, as well, even though Future shock has a great deal of good songs also. But everything with Gillan is great, by the way, I watched a clip on YT the other day, Gillan from Stockholm Sweden 1990 on his Naked thunder tour (by the way, a great record), here he had a special guest on stage, the Swedish guitar player Yngwie Malmsteen. A friend of mine was there that night and they even got a chance to talk to Gillan and his band backstage, a rather amusing story. They asked him a couple of questions, one of them was what he usually wanted to do, after the show, Gillans answer; "Get drunk!" Rather amusing anecdote, typical for Ian Gillan, I imagine.

Ritchie did put a decent band on the road... Saw them 4 days ago. But no matter how good band it is (Ronnie Romero sings awesome for example) it is all shaded by Ritchie and, all the (bad) sound is set so that Blackmore's guitar dominates... Which would not be bad 30 years ago, I assume, but now that he forgot to play even regular tunes, not to mention solos, it's pretty not enjoyable. Rather bothering. Also when you add the fact that they are playing less Rainbow songs under the name of Rainbow. With all due respect to the greatness of Ritchie Blackmore who gave us loads of the masterpieces of incomparable quality, he should pay respect to his guitar and leave it to rest now. His legacy is enormous and should remain as such... With these concerts he'll just get a bad closure.
Fantastic track from an awesome album. Classic band lineup, even artwork was first rate. Shame the lineup changed, don’t think they were able to match this album, they probarly never could

Songs in which each of the members shine
When the Levee Breaks :Bonham's Drum
Achilles Last Stand : JPJ on Bass
Kashmir: Page's Guitar
and their most famous song, Whole Lotta Love: Plant's orgasms.
If no one writes songs there is no music. Performers can be found.
And this refutes my points how? did you just ignore me pointing out that JPJ was the one who composed and that even the group said they disbanded because they didn't want anyone other than bonham to play the drums?
Man I love this song. The keyboards in the beginning always make me think I'm about to play a kick ass Sega Genesis game.
ох ну ДИО и дает просто ЖЕСТЬ,И ПОДПЕВАЮТ ОТЛИЧНО!!!
И МУЗОН ПРЕКРАСЕН!!!
Please try my rock channel..bro.
Love This the hole album is a mile stone in Hardrock History.
First Rainbow album I ever owned. Never looked back. This album changed my life.
Класс! Жаль, что нет русских отзывов, хотя в 70х эта вещь Гадалка, орала из окон общаг с бобинных магнитофонов гораздо чаще Stairway to Heaven, or Hotel California

Ritchie the best
Absolutely not underrated ....This is one of the best hard rock album !
This may be Cozy’s Best work!!!!! Dio was amazing.
Best vocals ,songs and guitar.
Master piece. Cozy was amazing .
Rainbow Rising:- it is quite simply the Sgt Pepper of Hard Rock albums.
Ronnie James Dio + Ritchie Blackmore = Epic!
Incredible album. Grew up on this stuff.
Just as long as its not crap like VHs Jump😁
Go back and listen to Blackmore's solo. Both Carey and Blackmore make the song. It wasn't a fucking competition. I can't stand the stupidity of so many Blackmore-hating lemmings.
kneelandpray2 when i mean under-rated it means that they should have sold more LP's and bigger crowds. This music was still in its infant.... totally agree with you This is one of the best hard rock album all time!
Excellent. Tony Carey keyboards. Master of the Moog.
The keyboardist in that picture is David Stone...But Yes, Mr. Carey is awesome..
Perfect opening for a perfect album
All killer, no filler!
......Thx Rainbow for wonderful great rock'ing music time this last 30 years ✌ 😎✌
My karate teacher gave me this album thirty years ago. I still have it and used to listen to this song and dream.................
Rainbow at its peak......incredible line up and Albam.....will never be bettered
Killer synth soloing in the intro and outro
BEST ALBUM EVER
Blackmore, Dio and Cozy, at their best. We will never see talent like this again.
The Rising album was a master piece and my Goodness how great this song is!!!
One of the greatest albums ever made...rock on!!!!!!!!
666death4life666 you are absolutely right, power metal was born out of this awesome band.
somehow Tarot Woman is the prototypical Rainbow song, combining every element that was great about them.
one of the first "power metal" songs. Dio and Blackmore invented that genre
Lendário Rainbow !!!
Dio the best...
Este album es una obra maestra! De lo mejor de todos los tiempos en su genero! Simplemente genial!
A perfect song...by an amazing band
RIP Cozy and Ronnie. "Still I'm sad" (c) This music is eternal. Thanks for sharing!
Que grande música do Rainbow...super top
The one I do really love in this song is actually Tony Carey..
Agree 1000%
Igor Flexus hey wot about Cozy Powell's drums in an era when all I was hearing was disco drum beat, Powell's was refreshing experience it washed away all that I despise of that dico beat
best synth ever!
Ritchie Blackmore towers above any other guitar player....an absolute genius.
It´s not an easy task to catagorize the best Rainbow songs, not easy at all, but for me this one Tarot woman (together with Gates of Babylon) is the best track. Not only Tarot woman, but the album Rainbow Rising, Pure magic. The opening from Mr. Tony Carey, can´t believe how good music really can be. This is real music!
@@peterkent1582 Yes I got it allright! Arsenal seems to be heading for some kind of upswing, last week Olympiakos and now Tottenham, that´s not to bad. We will see on Thursday, replay on Emirates. But so far, so good for Arteta and Arsenal. Hope they have learned their lesson, from earlier.
@@peterkent1582 For what! What´s up`?
@@peterkent1582 Ok, got it! Excuse me for asking, had no idea what it all was about! "Lara", no harm done! Have heard worse. If you like to see something great, look on YT and search for Deep Purple, New York ´73, that version of Space trucking´almost unbelievable. Jon Lord ´s solo, GREAT! You can also search for Rainbow, Japan ´95. Ritchie here, is amazing (as always, for that matter). So no chance for Middlesbrough, that was sad to hear.
@@peterkent1582 Oh, yes, it´s football allright, Tomorrow Arsenal will meet up with West Ham on the Olympic Stadium in London (London Derby).
@@peterkent1582 For what?
Incredible,the best rock music !
The best song to start the album ...
What a magical, mystical sung from the heart band.no other band in the world like rainbow. Miss you all Ronnie, Jimmy bean and blackmore.you will all go down on history fucking A man what an album.I still listen to it never tierd of it .peace out 🤗🤣😎
RIP Dio. Thank you and Ritchie for this tasty jam. #rockgods
This is so f****** awesome. Ritchie should put a decent band on the road, get in shape again, and play one of the best set list of RnR history.
With these concerts he'll just get a bad closure.
saw them in Prague two weeks ago and they were absolutely shite
or you can say it like that...
Rodrigo Flausino I agree but, it will not be the same without Dio.
Get in shape?!? He's fucking 70 something for fuck's sake. For the love of sanity, stop doing meth
I love this song, just excellent. I'd actually skipped over it for a long time but it is phenomenal - what the fuck was I thinking?
Únicos
Y claro ritchie no puede faltar
Snowboarding while playing this song would feel so epic!
+Dark BleSs Doing anything while this song was playing would feel so epic!
+NachoFast Doing anything while listening to any Dio song would feel so epic!
Fantastic track from an awesome album. Classic band lineup, even artwork was first rate. Shame the lineup changed, don’t think they were able to match this album, they probarly never could
Its a time when ritchie blackmore is on his best. high technic and creative
