My main obsession with this song and Black Rose Immortal was to understand how Mikael replicate the sound of a violin with the guitar (the part around 06:22 in this video) and i noticed that he plays with the volume knob while he is plucking the strings. Good to know
This is kinda hard to do in this tempo. I mean, reverb and delay helps a lot but even then its kinda hard to replicate. This technique is called "Volume Swell". Mikael does that also in Madrigal, from the album My arms your hearse.
not to disagree with you but I think the reason I love Opeth so much is because every album compares to this. Probably the most consistent metal band ever in terms of quality
One of my fav songs of all time! Never thought I would get to see it live, thanks a ton! Also De Farfalla has nice vocals too along with his amazing bass playing, such a shame he didn't play in any other proper band.
Very good. It's good to hear these gems once in a while Reminds of how good actually the debut was. It's amazing... Watching it now, the video has got no dislikes. That's some sign :)
@@acidorgy3023 hey mate could you suggest some albums like orchid please? I am trying to find albums that as dark as orchid. I cant even find the same taste in other opeth albums.
@@aegon1807 I recommend there second album! Morningrise! That’s basically the same album as orchid! But that’s the last album that Opeth has that raw sound!
orchid es el pico de opeth , doom , black , progresivo , death . speed , es todo en uno . Es un obra maestra de inicio a fin .Para gustos colores , pero el orchid le da varias vueltas al Black water park . LEJOS,..... -
Can someone tell me what gear they used? I aeye that Mikael has. Jackson RR but i can't see the bridge type and pickups. Peter uses a King V with a Floyd rose. I love early Opeth but tabs and gear information is very difficult to find
Nicolas Oh wow, I had no idea about either of those things, thanks! I thought it sounded like the album version. Always assumed it was Mikael. When I saw them in the early 00s they had nobody singing harmonies so I was quite surprised by this video.
@@NateLinehan666 Harmonies for Orchid and Morningrise were from Johan. On MAYH and Still Life the harmonies are just Mikael's voice lines. On Blackwater Park, Deliverance and Damnation the harmonies were sung by Mikael and Steven Wilson in the studio, but live, from 1998 until 2003, they had no harmonies until Per Wiberg joined (and later Frederik and Joakim did the harmonies in the studio and live).

@@weirddreams_fe it is quite tricky, a volume pedal could be an easier alternative
@@jacee8094 It sure is. But i never did it myself for I don't have a volume pedal.
@@weirddreams_fe thanks for the info

No one opeth's album can campare to this absolute masterpiece. Orchid is a music treasure

Morningrise
I agree!!! Best Opeth album, ever!!!
Early opeth was great
Only Opeth can be compared to Opeth in the realm of sublimeness and class when it comes to metal music.
It's pure hate when only Mikael is filmed.
ESPECIALLY when Peter is playing the solo!
In solitude I wander...
*Through the vast enchanted forest!* *AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaAaAAaah!*
this is life.
Mikael and his beautiful guitar solos !
I learnt this song in guitar (both guitar harmonies). Is really fun to play.

All hail Ian Cassidy! He shot a great video here.
The best song of Opeth...awesome!!!
Thank you. One of my favorite songs of one of my favorite bands. I thought I would never see a video of Opeth playing it live.
Same here!!! I never thought so as well!
Blew my mind away! This is one of my favorite songs by the orchid album! 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
It’s such a classic!
Maaaaan. I waited for the 'As the rain keeps falling' part and it was cut out. Great video tho
As the rain keepsfallimg
Damn, what a fine wine!
wow thanks for sharing! One of my fav Old Opeth track and I thought they never played it live.
As the rain keeps falling
The golden era
The outro solo is one of my favorites from then, if not the favorite.
it used to be my ring tone
Thank you for post
Thanks
Beautiful song, awesome melodies at the end, all around great.
I was under the impression that Orchid was their worser album, but I stand corrected.
Beardless Mikael is my sleep paralysis demon

La mejor banda, las mejores canciones, la mamada Opeth lml
This is pure gold! Thanks for the upload, and shoutouts to the person who filmed.
XXX Evolution Opeth Songs!
No...
Black metal yeah
Hell yes!!! Opeth back in the late 90s sounded black metal! It’s why there early albums catch my ears the most! 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥

Orchid está muy bien pero Blackwater Park es la cima absoluta de Opeth junto a Still Life.
Todos los álbumes de Opeth son excepcionales y una representación auditiva de lo sublime.

Fucking A
In solitude I wonder... No mustachea?
This video is god
audio is a little out of sync
Mikael was actually kinda cute back then tho 😳
Who sang harmony, Peter?
Johan de Farfalla (he also sang it on the album)

God they sound awful, thank God they got Martin Lopez soon and Martin Mendez.
Ofc Mendez is pretty awesome but Johan deFarfalla is gold.
@@turgen3416 I love him on morningrise studio album especially with the fretless, but this live performance is a bit rough.
