@@Pixel_Fix I tried it lastnight. It didt'nt work. The N-Go did'nt recognise the file format, do I need to download a ZX Next video codec or something ?
@@frankowalker4662 No the next should play them without any additional codecs, What was the file size after you converted them and did you use makevid ?
@@Pixel_Fix I downloaded the .VID files from the same website I got MakeVid from. Plus I made two of my own files using Make Vid, but I'm not sure I did them right. They are only 2K each and the downloaded VID files are in the MB range. But in the Next menu they showed up yellow.
If you convert a video of an arcade game like galaxian can you use next basic to grab the graphics and convert them into sprites? Wouldn't this help the next community and boost software production?
Sometimes when launching MakeVid to convert a MP4, I get an error message to the effect of space in filename, when there clearly is not one. Renaming the file makes no difference. My current workaround is to convert the original MP4 program again on my PC using Freemake video converter creating a new .MP4, then using this new file as the source to convert with MakeVid again. Sometimes it seems to solve the problem, but I have not yet worked out why? It may just be a coincidence during my trial and error. Any idea what is happening here?
I'm wondering what color palette the SpecNext has, if its 256 colors you can downsize the video to that palette before converting this to the format needed for the Next to play, might look better.
I've been trying to do this for the sam coupé community for 7 years now there's a program called bmp2scr but she only accepts 256x192 videos this is a bit of a faff as you have to capture a video at the right resolution also sam basic has grab a$ which can grab a sprite but sam is software sprites only also she's running basic at 50% of the possibility if she had had 1mb ram which runs full 6mhz
Great stuff, I'll have to get a Next one day mate 👍
Thanks for this. I am waiting on my KS#2 to arrive so I can try this. I own a KS#1 but holding off exploring this until the KS#2 arrives.
Your welcome thanks for stopping by the video. Its a great feature.Hopefully your KS2 will be with you soon :)
That's awesome. I'll definately try this. Happy New Year.
Thank you and a happy new year to you also.

Thanks for the suggestion that is defenetly worth trying out
9 bit palette, 512 colors. It is also possible to display them all at once. This "vid" engine is one of the first ones.
Resolution Is 256x192? Colour depth should be 256 per pixel no doesnt look right?
Is this also working on 128k Spectrum?
something i would like to try and find out myself.
