    Excellent video, thanks for keeping it quite objective. I totally agree with the conclusion about culture and attitude having more to do with success than the chosen framework. In addition, I would like to add that from your previous video, you skillfully tried to nuance where each framework has the right advantage within the agile context emphasis being on "scale" in safe. If you would like to know my thoughts, I definitely agree with your thoughts, in addition, I feel scrum can and should be used within SAFE if and where possible especially because I feel scrum helps to develop the culture and attitude needed for successful agile delivery. Whether SAFe practices tend to stifle agile is yet to be confirmed as I have not worked within SAFe, which led me to your videos. But my question to you is in an effective scrum team that is able to hit targets before the end of the Quarterly Safe meeting for example. Does this mean they will be doing nothing before the next quarterly SAFe meeting or does the SAFe framework have a prescription for this eventuality?

      Ha! This is an interesting question. I'm not sure what a SAFe theoretician would respond. My take is that the Scrum team should be self-managed and given they work on strategic goals of the company they should be able to define what to do meanwhile. Do some more product discovery? Deliver an experiment? Work on hmthe technical debt that enables the strategic goals?
      All in all, I've never seen that happen, usually it's more about "Where do we need to cut the corners?" 😅

    Agile methods used to be a thing engineering teams did internally when it was helpful. And sometimes we did it informally (like go to coffee and talk about challenges (blockers) to solicit ideas instead of a worthless DSU). Agile with SAFe has now become professionalized and exhausting and lame. It's become almost an academic exercise where SMs, POs, Agile coaches, RTEs have created an ecosystem where the whole point has become adherence to its processes. The point of Agile has become doing Agile. And the time spent in isolated Jira boards is excessively wasteful. (At least tools like Azure DevOps have a full suite of planning, testing, repos, pipelines, etc. built-in to a single seamless experience. Standalone Jira is especially suspect to me.)
    But leadership in many companies drunk the Kool-Ade after listening to an army of consultants and now all of Jonestown is being poisoned.

      How on point! I subscribe to this quote"It's become almost an academic exercise." Was thinking about it today how painful and exhausting was learning in an academic way and you are right, we bring it back for people with SAFe. Bureaucracy and pain

      Hey, yes I did. That was actually my intention to do so in this video but then I thought, can we even trust the opinions of people who earn by teaching, training and implementing SAFe? I don't think that's an unbiased opinion. Not to mention the bore ;-)
