I’ve been there several times. If you haven’t, you are missing an incredible experience. No picture can do justice to the beauty of Yosemite. It will literally stun you and make you stand gaping at what you see.
The same thing happened in ‘09 or ‘10. I have footage of it. Merced River overflowed and flooded several parts of the Valley, Lower Yosemite Falls looked exactly like we see in this video. Got a free shower from the bridge at the base of Lower Yosemite from all the mist. Same with Bridal Veil Falls. Now, this year will likely last much longer than a decade ago, but this snow melt flooding isn’t a “once in a lifetime” thing. Short memories, exaggerating statements and media sensationalizing events irk me. However, I AM happy for the much-needed, extra fresh water runoff to replenish whatever reservoirs need it, if any.
These rivers and creeks have been in need of a good flushing, the occasional flood is part of the natural cycle that for too long we've constrained (and continue to do).
@@danielserrano929 For Glacier Point Road, they have additional construction that must be done after the snow is cleared. The earliest it could reopen is July.
The mist trail on Vernal Falls must be blinding. Especially since it's the Merced river itself and not just a temporary Yosemite waterfall. There must be dozens of temporary falls now.
You thank him for the drought too right? Tell him to knock the drought off. And all the rape and child abuse he watches every day, tell him to end that too
Water was a lot higher in 1982. Three of us were lifting a refrigerator out of 1 to 2 feet of water in a NPS employee tent cabin by Yosemite Village when the refrigerator door came open and the light in it was on. Quite a jolting sight!
Thank you Heavenly Father for giving the land the snow and rain fall ! The earth needs the water and your people prayed and PRAYERS ANSWERED IN JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH NAME AMEN 🙏
This is going to be a massive deluge in Yosemite; I'll be surprised if it doesn't break all the records as all the pentup snow melts in a giant gush down the mountains.
I've gone to Yosemite every year since a little girl I'm 27 and ill never forget how beautiful the waterfalls were back in the 2000's and lemme tell yah they defiantly are looking how they used to finally. My grandma was one of the lucky ones to be there for this and it's not "fake news" if that's what you're implying.
Why is it called an historic snow pack? ❄️ How do you think that all that beauty was carved our of those stones. Two things that are infinite " the universe and human Stupidity " Albert Einstein. 😮😮
Y’all worry about having vacations messed up. What about the employees that will be evacuated from their homes?!?!?!? Y’all should worry about the people that take care of y’all when you stay there!!!!
I’m heading that way from Angels Camp in a Kia Optima. Are the roads flooded or is the news just trying to make a story out of nothing? Thanks in advance!
The river takes its current name from Russian Ivan Kuskov of the Russian-American Company. The earliest Slavic name for the river, Slavyanka, appears on a Russian-American Company chart dated 1817. This is long before California was part of the United States.
lol they're happy about the water they are just warning the public and closing the parks for safety. The real drama is the ones crying because they can't make reservations for the park haha

I was there last week. It was so beautiful and waterfalls everywhere you look. One of the best trips I've had. Came all the way from Malaysia.
That’s awesome, perfect timing!
Kamsani, there is so much splendor on this planet, it is a shame that "borders" make it difficult to see.
Might be worth mentioning that the water and ice cycle can cause massive rock falls and shearing of rock faces too.
its all natural.
HALFDOME
@@boblatkey7160 The heating of trapped water causes a massive expansion of the water too. I was talking about water too and not just ice.

The Merced waters as you enter park boundaries are insanity right now, especially the steeper grade runs. It's an amazing force of nature to be seen.

Don't look for Tioga Pass to open anytime soon. The road crews are seeing five to six inches of solid, compressed ice underneath all of that snow.
Maybe not even this summer, do you think glacier pt road will open soon?
@@danielserrano929 For Glacier Point Road, they have additional construction that must be done after the snow is cleared. The earliest it could reopen is July.
They're saying late July
Ice does not compress
Feet, I believe, not inches.
Is snow that has been compressed so that it is much more like solid ice than fluffy snow.
Juliette Goodrich! I used to work with her at my my first television news job.❤
Hello from Kansas🇺🇸
Nice report I love looking at waterfalls
I remember staying at Housekeeping back in 1982. The Rangers came and moved us as the river flooded the campsites.
Oh heck, let Wilson stay one more day!!!!
Upper Cherry and the slide at Tenaya Creek must be absolutely mad white water kayaking right now. If you can even get to them.
I worked there 20 years old very beautiful place I missed it.
The mist trail on Vernal Falls must be blinding. Especially since it's the Merced river itself and not just a temporary Yosemite waterfall. There must be dozens of temporary falls now.
Thanks you two!!
Does this mean the waterfalls might not be dry in august
So fun to see all your videos.
The media can make tragedy out of any situation
I was there in probably about 07 or 08
The waterfalls and rivers were pretty much totally DRY
So great to get all this snow and water. Thank you Lord.
You thank him for the drought too right? Tell him to knock the drought off. And all the rape and child abuse he watches every day, tell him to end that too
That Global warming sure is melting all that SNOW!!!!
Stay safe everyone. Hopefully, a lot more snow and rain comes .
Thanks for showing this video.
It was so nice of 'father nature' to replenish the oceans with all this new fresh water that will flow through CA to the ocean.
Does anyone think Yosemite falls will still be flowing in mid July? I was there mid July 2 years ago and it was completely dry.
this year yes
Oh no. Too much water! Media is never happy.
Shocking, nature is wild. I'm shocked.
Could have a show and tell there every day.
What happened to the drought?
Weather cycles. Great news.
Dam i gotta get out there to see the snow and ice burn. Must be a Cali thing..... back east it only melts.😮

More taxes will fix this
Careful what you wish for....!
THAT WOMAN WITH SUNGLASSES AT WATERFALL WAS BEAUTIFUL
Thank you Heavenly Father for giving the land the snow and rain fall ! The earth needs the water and your people prayed and PRAYERS ANSWERED IN JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH NAME AMEN 🙏
Why didn't he adjust the camera so everyone could see the upper Yosemite falls vs just the lower half while he was talking.
Water is life, inconveniences to human is minor. Much better than drought be thankful.
This year's Snow pack in the Sierras is 240% compared to previous
Hey boss let him stay over there next time if there's any campgrounds left
1997 floods kicked my ass
Flooding isn't a threat, it is a natural consequence.
This is going to be a massive deluge in Yosemite; I'll be surprised if it doesn't break all the records as all the pentup snow melts in a giant gush down the mountains.
Also please bring a bag to pick up trash 🗑️ we need all the help we can get
Summer hot makes ice melt. If it melts more ice that means that in the winter it got more snow. Hence the balance
Nature cannot be contained
"Itll ruin peoples vacation for weeks" wow not to mention the earth is like, screwed.
Snow melts, it's impressive, but eventually turns to ice. Not sure what all the hub-bub is about.
"Threaten"? This is Yosemite being Yosemite.
You have to close the park to protect people from themselves. Many have no sense.
I'm surprised the on site video looks like something from 20 years ago. But, what do i know. It's live footage from a remote.

Rebuild the wetlands if you want to refill the aquifers
Now is the time to colect the water for that dry times ahead

Don't complain!!!! We need water!! Liberals!!! Love camping Yosemite!!! Greatest place on earth!!! No Lie
Well get used to it as the Sierra still have snow. Many rivers will eventually be affected.
Yea none of those campgrounds got flooded, not even close. That's some 'reporting'
I hope I get to stay too
Bad connection KPIX 5
Hope your able to save alot of this water for farmers crops and drinking water
Refill the aquifers by returning the wetlands
