    Learning to be an artist again has been one of the most challenging things I have ever faced. After losing my soul of creating for many reasons, I have slowly been picking up again the art, learning how to find the connection, the inner part of expressing the vision, feelings, motivation, and perspective of the world around me. Your video has helped me to see the world in a more vibrant and positive motivation. Thank you so much for creating and making this video. All the best to you :)

    I actually ended up choosing Podia for my class because I also sell digital downloads & that's included there. I went with the cheapest paid tier which was $39/mo for unlimited classes & digital products & they don't charge any fees on your sales. I'm still setting everything up so I can't give a review yet, but I think it will do what I need it to do at the price I'm currently able to pay. My following is small right now so as I grow I may prefer something like Kajabi or whatever, but for now I feel pretty good where I am.

      That sounds like a very smart choice that is perfect for your needs! Starting with an expensive tool can be a heavy ball and chain to carry when we're trying to figure things out.

      That is tricky! I personally started with a huge program and it was difficult and overwhelming. So I'd recommend to do the opposite of what I did and start small, with a short class!

    Thank you Ness for such an informative video 🙏😻! Actually none of the hosting platforms (except for Skillshare) were familiar to me so it was very useful to hear your opinion. I recently bought 5 courses on Domestika and have been mostly happy with them so I began considering if I could one day sell my own course there too? Do you have any opinion about Domestika 🤔? I'd love to hear that!

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Год назад

      Unfortunately I have no experience with Domesticka myself so I can't say one way or the other! their courses look great which probably means they have very high quality standards though, and they are a course marketplace like Skillshare and thus probably take a huge chunk of the profits. In general when it comes to course, we can always make more hosting them ourselves.

    Ko-fi is also a great alternative to Patreon and also includes an online shop (for members or non-members).

    I would love to see a video detailing the pathway you'd recommend to someone wanting to learn how to illustrate. I want to learn how to illustrate but have no idea where to begin.

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Год назад

      That's a great idea, thanks for the suggestion! Some questions about that: are you a complete beginner learning to draw for the first time, or do you have some drawing skill and want to learn how to apply it to illustration? And also, do you want to learn as a hobby or do you wish to make this into a career?

    • @ahansen3305
      @ahansen3305 Год назад +1

      @@ArtBusinesswithNess I'm a complete beginner with some natural ability at drawing. My dream is writing and illustrating my own books.

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Год назад

      @@ahansen3305 I'll look into making a video, but until then here's some advice :) For picture books, the most important skills you need to master are: drawing people, especially children, and visual storytelling such as actions, emotions and interactions. Focusing on people and anatomy is a great place to start. And I recommend practicing by making book pages, because there's nothing like doing the thing to actually get better!

      Since I don't recommend Skillshare, I wouldn't want to explain how to launch Skillshare classes... I can make videos about how to make classes in general though!

  • @allancamp5494
    @allancamp5494 Год назад

    Hello Ness, Patreon is more appealing to me. One question, for the paid sites, when you say PRODUCT to teach or sell(?), how do those sites distinguish one product is different from the other? Example, if I teach basic drawing techniques or anything basic in painting or drawing using 3 different mediums(hand drawn or paint mediums or ink) does that mean I have 3 different "Products"? Or does teaching Digital Art, at the same time, will make it count as my 2nd Product? One traditional Art and another Digital Art. I hope I asked the question right😄

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  Год назад +1

      You are the one that decides how you want to organize your "products" :) On your dashboard, you create a product, give it a name, a price, and fill up all the settings and that's 1 product. If you want to include 3 classes in 1 product, that's up to you! But if you want to be able to sell those classes individually, you'd have to set it up as 3 products. They say "products" instead of classes because I believe all these sites also support digital download sales, as well as monthly memberships. Hope this helps!

    OMG NESS!!! YESSS!!!
    You need to make some freebies on youtube becasue its "Evergreen" which means if people search the terms and you come up, you can stop making youtube videos and your still going to keep coming up in search unlike Instagram and Ticktok which requires you to be active or you disappear. So the only thing i think these platforms are good for, are for curious people like myself who want to see a short of what you are currently working on. And im going to go there on my own and keep up with your account weather you post regular or not

      That's a good point! Apart from the accessibility of the class for everyone and the ad revenue, the other big advantage is also helping to bring new people to my channel. That's really smart, thanks for sharing your thoughts!!
