His name is Danny Glover and I totally understand why you say that. His voice is very smooth and calming. He used to be in a lot of the mainstream movies when I was growing up in the 90's, not as obscure as he is today. He's fantastic. Angels in the Outfield was an amazing movie growing up as a kiddo to watch. Him and Robin Williams used to spend a lot of time going around to the hospitals in Los Angeles cheering up sick children much like Johnny Depp is known for doing these days. My stepfather who is a counselor had the opportunity to meet him while doing his rounds in hospitals in LA. Amazing men, the two of them. Unfortunately, he's not doing too well health-wise these days and is seeming a bit frail. Praying for his well-being, glad he's still at it with his passion for acting.

@@thepinktreeclub Whats sad is black folks talk like they're from the hood and illiterate. They're the ones that talk different, everyone else talks normal.

It doesn't sound like you're selling, but the customer would come off as rude, or incompetent to turn you away. It's kind of a craft when you think about it.
@@burlingmill nah, there's been actually studies into different American dialects and accents. The "white Voice" most often refers to a type General American English spoken originally in the Midwest. Not all Americans sound the same.

So, I went to a majority white school but lived in a majority black neighborhood. I remember when my sister had a job like this back in the day and she was really good at sales. One time, I told her about this guy that hooked me up with 'free' cable and internet for a one-time fee. She was so excited and called him for the same hook-up. I wouldn't say it's a racial "inequality" as much as a "difference." Sort of like saying the fact that 3/4ths of NFL players are black and almost all of the NBA players is an "inequality," since that word implies that some kind of horrible injustice has been inflicted upon whites.
Let’s not even talk about white voice let’s talk about using a white southern voice. Man they get extra happy when they think they are talking to some blue blood southern charmed belle from Mississippi to help them with their call lol

This is cut to remove the most telling lines-that the "white voice" is someone who has never been fired, who never has to worry about rent or food… it's what white people _wish_ they sounded like and _think_ they should sound like. The scene is a lot sharper in context.
I hear you! We saw it at the movie theater, bought the DVD, and it's on Prime - but I still haven't re-watched it. The end was just too weird. But after this exchange we will rewatch!
theres a ton of films like that for me that are *amazing* but may never see again, and then another whole list of films that *would* be on the other list but for some reason I'll watch them over again, like 1917. I think its a mood thing. I mean, I'd be very wary of someone who said 'Requiem For A Dream' was their favorite movie and they watch it a half dozen times a year... right? like... that aint good.
As a black chick with a white sounding voice I assure you this is real! I’ve gotten jobs that I know I wouldn’t have gotten due to my voice alone ( phone interview) and when I came to sign the paperwork I got treated to the were not hiring speech. Only when I mention who I spoke with by name did their attitude change😂😂😂😂❤
When he made the distinction between being well spoken, and the actual white voice, it hit me. I could 100% relate. It's that white people or anyone with certain upbringings can just 'let go', and be 'at ease' with themselves in any environment. No over self consciousness or doubt, as if it's just fun having a pointless convo with someone you have never met
To this day...whenever I have to call a 1-800 number for personal business, I put on my whitest white voice. It also help that I don't have an ethnic name either, lmao!!!
This is a particular dialect in the US that many black people just think is "white." Kinda like that standard British accent. In this movie "white voice" sounds makes me think of 3 types of white US people, cause there are different types for sure. I'm looking at this like a Super Sayain but in descending order. (American perspective). Here's my list of white people who sound similar to this. (I know these are generalizations and in 10 years reactionaries would have a field day with this, but live in the moment.) White guy #1 The Well Off White Guy: the boat shoe wearing, country club, never had a real struggle in their lives, connoisseur of golf, and sniffing their own farts (even many of those sound different). White guy #2 Ultra-Suburban White Guy: The kinda dull, quite sheltered, white guy who isn't as prestigious as White #1 but is somewhat friendly and has no idea about anything. Doesn't want to rock the boat in any way. Timid. The kind of white guy who makes the smallest of talk. # 3 The White Businessman (probably the most common when making a deal): This is the cold callers, sometimes managers, they act clueless like #2 but nah these are the dangerous ones.
it's not a white voice, it's standard american English. The same law apply to every language, you need to able to speak in an articulate and proper way to be able to succeed.
