    Those are small my friend.
    Slow growth due to potting them.
    Good luck with the Graviola tree.
    Yes! Yes plant them in the ground.
    Prune & top in another 6 months.
    When transplanting into the ground
    Bury the stem deep up to the 1st set of branches.
    Works great.
    Philippines here & this is my method for shorter trees.
    Makes pruning easier.
    Makes hand pollination easier.
    Harvesting is easier.
    Love graviola trees.

    So here’s the scoop for me I’ve purchased Soursop fruit from Chicago at a Whole Foods market we didn’t have it at the whole foods in Ohio. I’ve brought the fruit back to Ohio where I live and I consumed it and saved the seeds. Planted the seeds the same year in the late summer of 2019 by October they germinated and sprouted. I’ve had over 20 trees of course I wasn’t expecting this and I was new to this so I’ve brought a grow light and kept them in doors for the upcoming winter. They seemed to do very well but some of them were yellowing I’ve lost a few but kept doing my best to raise them. I would say this tho they grow at a slow rate probably due to the environment they are in. By the spring of 2020 I’ve put them back outside and they seem to do best by this time I realized my routine on how to care for them at the end of summer 2020 I put them back in the house. A few didn’t make it throughout the time of seed to this point but for the ones that did they were doing fine. By the spring of 2021 I now have 15 healthy plants averaging a height between 10-15 inches. My goal is to educate those about the fruit that is good for your health and either sell or give to a good home. If interested in purchasing some please contact cheflarren@gmail.com I still have all 15 plants and I plan on keeping about 3 I’m patiently waiting for the day they bare fruit. Til this day and time I have 3 outside in a green house I’ve built for them hoping that they will survive the winter and be successful growing in Ohio. Let this journey begin.

      @@ThePlantCollector you‘re welcome, I’m happy to help. Though that is what I believe is the problem from my own knowledge. I’m not an expert, so I don‘t know everything but I believe that yellowing of the leaves most likely means a nutrient deficiency, so try adding some fertilizer and beneficial soil creatures, and If that doesn’t work, seek help from a professional. Anyways, I’m happy to help, and I’m super excited to start growing my own exotic fruit. 👍

    Is it safe to fertilize the young soursop plants?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  2 года назад

      Depends on how young they are. It also depends on what type of fertilizer you are using. I actually dont think I fertilized my soursop trees except for once and that is when I first transplanted them into the ground. Im sure there are great fertilizers for fruit trees out there in the stores but maybe fertilize your plants just slightly to see how they respond first 👍 personally I have never needed to fertilize my trees. I let the earth do the work!

      I've seen some videos of folks who "hand pollinate" their soursops..maybe you can try that? There are videos of this on youtube. My neighbor has a soursop that did the same as your's and I told them the same thing. Some folks put honey in a spray bottle and dilute with water so it is sprayable then they spray areas around the flowers to invite pollinators. For me? I'm willing to just wait and let the plants and pollinators do their own thing 👍 but that's just me. Hope this helps! Sorry I couldn't be of more help 🙏

      I would give them maybe a week or two more to see if they germinate...keep the soil moist but not soggy...and keep them in a semi-shady area for the germination process...if they still dont germinate after two more weeks, they may not germinate at all and you'll have to get more seeds and try again...best of luck to you 🤙

    What must I do to prevent my soursop flower from dropping off? From Singapore

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  4 года назад

      The flowers will always fall off...but hopefully a fruit forms on that flower before it drops off! It depends on pollination which we all know. My neighbor has the same problem..lots of flowers but no fruit! The pollinators (flying insects and sometimes even ants) need to cross pollinate with a flower of the same family (cultivar). Like sugar apples or rollinias. If I were you, I would just give my plant some time. One day a pollinator will be carrying the right pollen and you'll finally have fruits! Singapore! Wow that's awesome! Aloha from Hawaii! 🤙👍 GROW AS MANY FLOWERS AS YOU CAN to attract pollinators of all kinds!

    Thanks for the video, just learned that soursop has some good effects on the body and I ordered some seeds on ebay. I understand that it's a lot better to grow them in the ground than in a pot, my problem is that I live in northern Europe (Denmark) and the thing is that it gets cold here, and after what I read on wikipedia it dont survive frost, is there anything you can add to that ?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  4 года назад +2

      Kim Toft Johannsen You can build a small greenhouse for it if you plan on leaving it outside. The first couple of years will be the toughest so maybe you can leave it in a container so that you can move it in and out for the first year. It'll be tricky but as long as you can give it a chance to strengthen before planting it into the ground, it might have a chance. Give it good nutrition/fertilizer when the trunk matures/hardens to encourage "normal growth"...I wish you the very best of luck on your grow 🙏🤙 thank you for watching! Stay tuned 👍
