I went there in the 2010s and felt pretty relaxed, went there last month and felt like I had to have my guard up, heard gunshots, saw a guy breaking a window. It is. My family moved just outside the city a short few years ago and I was mad about it at first… but it somehow allowed me to see another perspective and how “civilized” people treat eachother. Honestly I can’t say it’s any better than Nyc… these days there’s prejudice everywhere. But since my mind’s been so clear, grounded and growth minded like for Real… my experience when I commute into the city is so different. Like I can visually see how almost each and every individual has lost their mind in some way or another. And I know what it is in each person as well… but to call these things out and actually heal the society that needs to be healed for once… I would seem like the crazy one 🤦♀️ sigh, I trained myself how to blend in and seem mildly crazy like everyone else as a New Yorker would… but on the bright side I don’t think it’ll stay like this.
