    The clip with the Pike, La'an, Uhura, and Chapel getting vulcanized also makes no sense because those attitudes and the Vulcan Emotional Suppression are all learned behaviors and skills. Vulcans without years of logical and emotional suppression actually have much stronger emotions than humans, which almost destroyed their society before Surak introduced logic and those emotional suppression techniques. La'an and Chapel tend to suppress their emotions as humans, so they *might* be okay but Pike and Uhura are both rather 'wear emotions on their sleeves' and if they were suddenly fully Vulcan they would have their emotions bouncing all over the walls. Sure, they might be biologically Vulcan, but everything else (including the magically changed hairstyles) make zero sense with all of established canon (as well as espousing some troubling ideas of biological essentialism) and seems a little too 'played for laughs'

It was just too unbelievably simple of a setup; Seven jumps to Captaincy, Raffi gets first officer (??), Jack's sticking around without Academy training (???), and the hamfisted renaming of the Titan...
    Yeah, nothing about it felt like must watch Star Trek. We've already seen Q messing around with crew members and should take a lesson from DS9 and not rehash that again. At no point did I feel any of the new cast was carrying the show or had the ability to; they would 100% be dependent on Seven stepping up and making it her show.

    I am one of the handful of Trekkies not pining for a continuation of PIC in a Star Trek: Legacy, at least not in the form it was left in at the end of the previous series - the choice to rename the ship, the fast-tracking of Jack into Starfleet and onto the bridge, putting on-again, off-again girlfriend Raffi as Seven's first officer, and the reappearance of Q. Then there's the Shaw of it all. Everyone else wants to bring him back in one way or another, but it all feels contrived to me.
    I'm also not feeling everyone's fan service suggestions of bringing in the children of a bunch of other characters, Jake, Alexander, Naomi, Kestra, etc. The one character that would make the most sense to bring back is the one that's impossible: Nog (RIP Aron Eisenberg). Now that's an interesting first officer for Seven of Nine. He would be a little old to still be a commander, but I'm sure you could find some reason for him to be stuck there. Maybe Starfleet Command wasn't ready for a Ferengi commanding officer, or there was some sort of flare-up of his PTSD that caused him to take a sabbatical.

      @scockery I suspect Vulcans can be prejudiced while also being logical due to the fact that any insulting comments they make are always drawn from "fact" and they're simply stating said "facts" with the intent to educate abd encourage personal betterment for a greater good. They want others to be better - Vulcan better - because it makes it easier on them to manage their tightly controlled maelstrom of emotions.

      Honestly, as much as I would love to see Prodigy continue, I don't think Paramount is going to do it. Prodigy is unusual as it has 20 episodes per season, versus the typical 10 episodes for all other current Star Trek series (with Discovery being a slight exception with 10-15 episodes per season). Prodigy, in today's standards, has already been through four seasons, so I seriously doubt that Paramount will throw more money into it.
      //**rant start**//
      I did an episode count of all the current Star Trek series and realized that we are at 205 total episodes in 7 years over 5 series (Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Srange New Worlds) and 17 seasons. If we go back and look at the classic series without including the original series or the animated series (starting with Next Generation), at the seven year point we would be completing all of Next Generation and into the second season of Deep Space Nine for a total of 227 episodes...7 years, 2 series, 9 seasons.
      It's funny that Kurtsman can say it's lucky we can get to five seasons on any Star Trek series. In Lower Decks, that's 50 episodes. In Discovery, that's 65 episodes. On any of the older series, that would be the start of the 3rd season. Even the original series, by the time season 2 was finished, it was already at 55 episodes, only 10 shy from the total count of Discovery, and that took five seasons to accomplish...and, remember, it took a letter-writing campaign to get NBC to order a season 3 of the original series, so the original series could have very well ended at Season 2.
      What Paramount (and other production companies) have done is traded off story development for a much shorter season. If you can't tell a story arc in 10 episodes (including four of those episodes dedicated to individual back stories), then the series isn't worth producing. It's no longer the "see where the journey takes you" attitude, but more of the "are we there yet" attitude that plagues series production today.
      //**rant end**//
      Sorry for the rant, but I needed to say this.

    I am also tired of the Vulcans being shown to be prejudiced and rather narrow minded people. The core of Vulcan Philosophy is IDIC, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. Vulcan might be logical and suppress their emotions, and may at times find other races to be confusing and/or frustrating, but they should take interest and joy in studying and witnessing diverse viewpoints. I think too many writers are taking a few select Vulcan cases, that have specific reasons in canon, and extrapolating it out to the species as a whole. Sarek and Spock have a strained relationship not because Spock is half human, but because he joined Starfleet and this went against the planned course that Ambassador 'Vulcan as a mfer' Sarek has in mind for his son (and because it meant that he had needless let down his adopted daughter). Yes, Spock was also 'picked on' and 'looked down on' by others when growing up but in some ways it is children being children. T'Pring did not seek Kali'fi rather than marry Spock because he was half human, or because she had any prejudices, but because Starfleet kept him away for too long, and with his star on the rise, so to speak, she did not want to be married to something of a celebrity. The Vulcans in the Enterprise Era were more prejudiced, but that was, as much as anything, due to slowly drifting away from Surak's teachings, and also outside influence by Romulans, and while they find them frustrating and over-emotional, many of Vulcans like T'Pol and Soval actually have a great deal of admiration for humans and humanity, although they hide it well.
    Modern Trek has taken these, perfectly sensible (if not necessarily defensible) stances and gone "most Vulcans are prejudiced, look down on everyone, find Spock to be not Vulcan enough, and are generally rude and a bit xenophobic" which takes away so much of their nuance and one of the best pieces of Vulcan Philosophy, the IDIC.

    Seeing another bubble Netflix show comments on Twitter that the streamer takes stock of viewing figures at the end of the year so please rewatch & binge their show before 2025.
    The same could be said of prodigy. Rewatch!!

    Best Star Trek moment of 2025: Discovery is removed from streaming as a tax write off and Kurtsman is fired.

    For my Star Trek ended when Enterprise went off the air. More power to the folks who like the jj and paramount+ stuff but its not for me.

    The only season I really didn't like about Discover was S4 (1 gets a pass, re every star trek series ever). When the stakes are always universal/everything everywhere for all time, then nothing actually matters after that point and the tension or choices really don't matter or have any emotional import. The dark matter thing was a really bad writing choice, imo.

    Worst moment for me is Lower Decks season four and Prodigy two only going to blu ray not dvd. One of my sisters loves Star Trek. But doesn't do the internet. Or blu ray. I don't do blu ray either. Reasons. I have brought one or two trek dvds of late even though I'm not as much of a collector as I was just so she can get to see them. I'm sure it's all down to sales which is fine as that's a fact of life. But it's still a bit disappointing.

    Need more Star Trek Lower Decks and Prodigy. And get Star Trek Legacy going.

    According to reports SKYDANCE is interested in re-setting Star Trek-thus Academy will not continue and 31 will stay a one-shot-if not vaulted for tax purposes. More than likely SNW will lead into the return of Kirk/Enterprise stories as they were not happy with the actions of one star of the series. Of course, the constant Star Trek(JJ) 4th movie still arise-but don't count on it.

    McCoy never bullied Spock, they were peers and it was amicable.
