Still one of the best songs to come out of gaming, period.
FFX's soundtrack has quite a few exceptional songs, but this one... It really accomplished every single "checkmark" for what you want an instrumental to be.
Beautiful, emotional, accurate to the scene, moving... and of course, enjoyable.
This song, by itself, is likely a large part of why many people have such fond memories of FFX - because it's linked in your subconscious memories with an utter masterpiece of a song.
Gotta agree with all you said ; younger i used to often listen to it when i was sad cause it made me think of yuna and "always smile" ; the feels of this music are still there many years later.

For some unknown reason, I knew I'd cry if I listen to this song and the whole FFX soundtrack long enough. And yet I'm here, couldn't resist listening to this. At first, it takes me back to like 15 years ago when I was first playing this game. All the memories come back to life, the fun, the journey, the growing up, and facing truth of life. So amazing, yet also saddening.
And eventually, there's something about this song. As if it takes me back to Zanarkand. Get to be a young energetic pure heart boy who's following his dream and doing what is right. Over there is so much better than reality, I'm sick here in Bangkok amid the COVID pandemic. I'd just choose to fight demons and have fun with my friends, then eventually get to rest eternally.
Here in reality I can't even die as I'm worried about my old retired mom and my younger sister.
Life is a long journey, stay strong my friend.

My family is lacking of gadget and i just get PS2 like 3 years ago and this game is the only one that pierce through my heart. And to zanarkand remind me how dark spira actually is.

I have the exact same feeling as you every time I listen 'To Zarnakand.' I'm not in Bangkok but have the same thought as your. Things are not easy especially in COVID time. This song is magic. We all should do the same, be as young and energetic and pure heart again, and be strong. I also like the other reply to your comment by @brett S - "...to live a long fulfilled life."

あれはいつの事だろう。うたた寝
のヘッドホンから聴こえる凛と奏
でられるピアノ。なんだ自動再生
か、スマホを手に取りながめた。
ぱんピアノ？そもそも俺は知らな
いはずだ。なぜなら幼少から音楽
に興味がなく育ったのだから。ふ
と他の動画に目をやってみた。飛
び込んできたサムネに激震が走る。
こ、これは。美しいく淫らな膨ら
みが光を放ち俺の心を激しく貫い
た。あの日からピアノが好きに、
いや谷間が好きになったのである
第一章 「出会い」 完
あの日を境に平凡に生きてきた俺
の心の奥底に眠る何かが目覚る。
おもむろに、彼女の動画をむさぼ
って夜通し見まくった。そして、
ぱんピアノの動画のある事に気付
いてしまう。コメントを書けば繋
がりが持てるということに。俺は
だいたいのコメントが露骨でひわ
いすぎる。これでは彼女を悲しま
す事になる。そう思った。考えぬ
き出た答えは、一見、普通の文章
で応援し隠した言葉でセクハラを
する。あの日に覚醒していたのだ
。純粋だが歪んでいる愛に。
第二章「覚醒」 完
ここにはすでに優秀なコメント欄
の猛者がいた。俺がこれから戦い
しのぎを削る相手か。主流は何し
ろ縦書き。同じ武器では面白くな
い。何かあるはずだ探せ、何か、
ふと気付く。二列縦読みが無いこ
とに。文字の組み合わせは無限。
ものすごい数の組み合わせは、よ
もや天文学的数値である。俺は昼
も夜も挑み続けた。そしてある日
だれも辿り着かなかった境地につ
いに。窓の外は朝焼けの紫。すが
すがしい朝風が春の香りと共に吹
き抜けた。そして伝説が始まる。
第三章 「伝説」 完
なんとなく思う。初投稿は今夜な
んだと。高鳴る心音が耳障りだ。
どの道失うものは何もないしな。
見なれたコメント欄に俺の魂を放
て。自分を鼓舞し投稿した。いつ
もの常連達に割って入り戦況を伺
いながら時を待つ。そして。よも
やの数値を叩き出す。常連の猛者
らを蹴散らし俺のコメントは上昇
し、称賛の嵐を受けた。ものすご
い返信の数だった。そしてついに
かの有名コメント欄のトップを自
らの手に納めたのである。しかし
だ、ここから本当の戦いが始まっ
た。二列縦読みは直ぐに攻略され
またたく間に広まった。古参の彼
らは、紛れの無い群雄割拠の猛者
なんだと再確認した。なんども戦
い数回トップにもなったが、これ
では限界だ。これ以上の何かを探
す他ない。そしてついに。それは
よもや神の領域。ここの猛者達を
ねじ伏せるには、新型三列縦読み
。そして新たなる戦いが始まる。
第四章「神の領域」 完
縦読み三列は作れる代物なのか？
揺れ動く心の葛藤に苛まれる。こ
れから挑むものは神の領域。時が
すぎゆく中、タバコの空箱が増え
る。とりあえず、三列書いて考え
よう。俺はボーッと眺めてふと思
う考えるな感じろと。その時脳裏
にうごめく文字が乱烈し始める。
激越しながら俺は溢れる文字を記
し、そして新型三列縦読みが。清
く花蓮で妖艶で美しいコスプレを
演じ、どうしょもない俺達の為に
奏でてくれるパンピアノ。君を愛
しく思う。タバコの灯りが暗闇を
てらす。時計の音だけが響き渡る
ほど静寂の中、俺はスマホを手に
してついに。誰も未だ見た事がな
い新型三列縦読みを解き放つ。
第五章「新型三列縦読み」 完
初披露の三列縦読み。状況を見つ
め結果を待った。静かだな。改め
て部屋を見渡した。最初に君と出
会った日の静けさも確かこんなだ
ったな。あの日から全てが始まっ
たんだなと改めて思った。なぜか
そんな感情に浸りながら、スマホ
の画面を見つめた。黄昏時赤い夕
日が燃える赤に染まる。新型は確
かな結果を出していた。優秀な彼
らコメント解読班は三列縦読みに
恋に落ちたが如く酔いしれ、喝采
の嵐が吹き荒れた。俺の才能が開
花した瞬間であった。ここでは遅
咲きのルーキーだった俺はまたた
く間に神、レジェンドと称される
事になった。しかし、栄華も賛美
も本来の目的ではない。君を見た
あの日に思った、コメントで繋が
る事ができればきっといつか。
第六章「繋がる」 完
夢とはそれに向かって努力したも
のしか叶えられない。確かそんな
ような事を誰か言ってた。俺は思
う。夢叶ったと。あれから何度と
なくトップを取り名は知れ渡り、
君からのコメも頻繁になり絵文字
のコメから文字に変わり始めいつ
からか師匠と呼ばれ始めた。あき
らかに「みやび」は君に届いたの
だと。繋がり、君と触れ合った俺
は最初に抱いた純粋な歪んだ愛情
も今では、純粋な愛情なのだと思
う。君は今現在も百万人の夢を載
せ走り続けている。この先も、遥
かかなたの、本当のゴールに向か
い走り続けて下さい。俺はもうい
いか。後進に道を譲るとしよう。
さてと、雨が上がり、蝉の声がさ
んざめく中、俺はスマホを置いた
最終章 「純粋な愛情」

This is still my most favorite song to this day. It invokes a feeling of nostalgia and bittersweetness. No matter how rough and dark your journey is, there is still light at the end of the tunnel.
In real life, more often than not, the light at the end of the tunnel is a train. Not meaning you, but in general, people who have not endured real difficulties in life tend to come up with over optimistic bs like that. Again, not meaning you but as a personal observation of the world.
