I always thought the quote "Man is the warmest place to hide." was such a beautifully simple but horrifying statement. It leaves your skin crawling.....in a somewhat literal sense!
Excellent work. Keeping the creature or chameleon mysterious with no thorough revelation and displaying the horrific chaos that transpires all around its existence. Well done. The music? Excellent choice. One of my favorite scores. The best fan trailer I have ever seen, hands down.
@@RetroHideoutI saw The Thing when it first came out in 1982.Loved it then and still love it today.HOW the critics panned this movie when it came out in 82, i’ll never know. This trailer is absolutely brilliant. That sense of dread. They should have used this trailer to rerelease the movie on its 40th anniversary back in 2022.Maybe on its 50th in 2032.👍
An amateur attempt at a trailer for one of the best films of all time. And by amateur I mean unpaid. This 'trailer' is superb and beats those pro jobs hads down. You should be working for the studios.
I concur.. bravo. Such a well balanced trailer. Those big wigs need to take notice. I would love to see a modern trailer on the level of The Thing for GAR Day of the Dead. 🙌🧟♀️
Ok this was actually awesome. Props also on not showing the thing in the trailer! Too may trailers today say too much. This is a work of art. Keep it up!
Very good! The only thing I would have added was that scream by the mutant Bennings.. just a few seconds of it. That scared the crap out of me as a kid
This trailer is awesome!!! It made me want to go watch the movie even though I’ve seen it a thousand times. Great job, I love it and I’m sharing it with people.
I know this was in 2015, but was looking for modern trailers for classic movies. This was great! And thank you for not showing any of the big effect scenes. This is how a trailer should be, making you want to see what it's all about and not giving away the spectacle.
The build up in this trailer is phenomenal! I’m working on my own modern trailer right now and I feel like I should just give up because there’s no way it will compete with this! AMAZING job!
Even though I’ve seen someone of the movie, these are the type of trailers that should get someone hooked up to figure out what’s going to happen next.
Retro Hideout this is so cool and awesome anyway thank you for doing this The Thing (1982) directed by John Carpenter is my number 1 favorite sci-fi horror movie out of every other horror movie but not just me it's also my whole family's and all of my friends favorite sci-fi horror movie and we have considered The Thing (1982) the greatest sci-fi horror movie ever created out of every other horror movie as well:).
Wonderful job on this trailer you made! This is one of my favorite movies in the science fiction and/or horror genres; I remember seeing it that summer of '82(I happened to be living in Washington D.C. that summer), about a week after seeing E.T.(which was obviously immensely more crowded). The novella it's based on is quite good also, "Who Goes There?"
Superb work and thanks for posting this.I would have left out the clip of the spaceship wreck though. Maybe use the reverse shot looking from the shattered hull towards the three standing at the top edge of the crater. I think the spaceship shot is a 'money' shot in the film and shouldn't be directly revealed before seeing the movie. Also, the kennel scene clip from behind the dogs-Thing pulling itself to the roof has to be one of the freakiest, scariest images I've seen (even if it is in shadow). It is utterly unnatural. The actual release trailer from 1982 is excellent, so congratulations on carrying on that legacy.
It's very good work and it looks great, but I have to say it suffers a little from not having a pay-off at the end. Modern trailers usually put a big shock, surprise of reveal at the end. This sort of just fizzles out quietly.
This was very good to bad you did'nt have the theme music in this that would've been neat! There was one trailer like your's but it seems to have been removed.
Yeah, was totally obvious it was a modern trailer the second I heard the INCEPTION "BRAAAM!!" Haha, but no, definitely a killer fuckin fan made trailer. And by fan made, a visually professional-like fan made trailer! Props!!!!
Nice job, I'm actually 13 but me and my dad are actually looking for a copy of the movie. also I share the directors last name which I find interesting.
Just randomly came across this and it's really, REALLY good! Awesome work.
Hi dead meat! First reply!
Agreed
I agree. I love when trailers don’t spoil any of the cool scenes.
Dead meat??
Wow
One of the best modern trailer versions of The Thing I have seen.
I always thought the quote "Man is the warmest place to hide." was such a beautifully simple but horrifying statement. It leaves your skin crawling.....in a somewhat literal sense!
Probably the best fan trailer for the Thing I’ve seen.
The 2001 music surprisingly fits.
Excellent work. Keeping the creature or chameleon mysterious with no thorough revelation and displaying the horrific chaos that transpires all around its existence. Well done. The music? Excellent choice. One of my favorite scores. The best fan trailer I have ever seen, hands down.
Thank you. Some high praise there. The practical effects on the creature still hold up 40+ years later. It was hard editing around it.

This was epic! Great work. 2001 theme was super creepy

Wow! Thank you so much for that. I appreciate the kind words.
You had us in the first half ngl
I concur.. bravo. Such a well balanced trailer. Those big wigs need to take notice. I would love to see a modern trailer on the level of The Thing for GAR Day of the Dead. 🙌🧟♀️
WOW... 😳
Ok this was actually awesome. Props also on not showing the thing in the trailer! Too may trailers today say too much. This is a work of art. Keep it up!
Really well made trailer. Makes me want to watch the movie again.
Not too many remakes can surpase the original, This one is the exception by far!
Very good! The only thing I would have added was that scream by the mutant Bennings.. just a few seconds of it. That scared the crap out of me as a kid
If this was the original trailer it would have been a huge hit
This trailer is awesome!!! It made me want to go watch the movie even though I’ve seen it a thousand times. Great job, I love it and I’m sharing it with people.
Loved this! The music, the dread it creates. Perfect!
The audio really sets it apart and creates that horror.
Fcking brilliant!!!! A great trailer for one of the best horror films and my favourite of all time!
Jor-El of Krypton Thanks!
I know this was in 2015, but was looking for modern trailers for classic movies. This was great! And thank you for not showing any of the big effect scenes. This is how a trailer should be, making you want to see what it's all about and not giving away the spectacle.

Good trailer. Sets up the premise and gets us invested without blowing too much of the plot. Nice.
Yeah doesn't show a single transformation, modern trailers could learn something
Great job, dude! You took a very graphic film and focused more on the story.
I love Carpenter! I saw him live when he came to NY! It was a lot of fun!
Awesome work! Congrats!
Thank you. I appreciate it.
*Very* well done! Gives all the info one needs to know what it’s about but gives nothing away detail wise...exactly how trailers should be done.
wow great job. this was actually my first horror movie and one of my favorites. I'm definitely gonna have to re-watch it now
Thanks! Mission accomplished, ha!
Retro Hideout your welcome
"You see, what we're talkin' about here is an organism that imitates diabetus. And it imitates it often."
So, all we gotta do to defeat THE THING, s let it imitate Walter bremley, and then hide all the insulin?
YES! I was hoping you would do this for The Thing. So good!
John Lupine I'm glad you enjoyed it.
That was really well done. Even the hashtag at the end is a great touch.
Amazing. And it seems so professional
Superb nice one !
Great job! Seen this in the theater and many times at home but just today was I able to see Copper's nose ring.
Much better trailer. Great work.
Your trailers are amazing!!! Love the re-imagining.
This trailer is HARD AF! Nice!
This looks like a Remake of John Carpenter's The Thing
pretty sick man, nice job! please keep enjoying your hobby...
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

Watched this in the cinema as a kid... scared the life out of me 😅
I've never been able to shake off that ending.
Holy crap! That was fantastic!
Even though I’ve seen someone of the movie, these are the type of trailers that should get someone hooked up to figure out what’s going to happen next.
Really well done.
This is not a modern trailer. It doesn't absolutely every plot twist away.
Retro Hideout this is so cool and awesome anyway thank you for doing this The Thing (1982) directed by John Carpenter is my number 1 favorite sci-fi horror movie out of every other horror movie but not just me it's also my whole family's and all of my friends favorite sci-fi horror movie and we have considered The Thing (1982) the greatest sci-fi horror movie ever created out of every other horror movie as well:).
watched it last night (finally)
great movie
So so good dude. Cracking job.
Great work. Well paced and great choice of music.

that was actually pretty good...I was expecting a spoof
Goddamn, that was an amazing trailer. Wow, loved it! Great job!
Wow! This is really good work.
Man this is really good!
This film was truly amazing
Great job on this! A few cliche bits but it's more than enough to get you interested. John would be proud.
Good job, man. Greetings from Poland
Nice! Brutal trailer!!! Great thanks!
People call me a "stick in the mud" for just liking the *old stuff*.
Well, it beats the fucking SHIT out of anything today!
Very nice job Sir!
This movie deserves a Sequel
"...then it's won."
"...then it's one."
Wow! That's impressive!
Superb work and thanks for posting this.I would have left out the clip of the spaceship wreck though. 👌
One of the greatest films of all time, simples.
I know I'm late, but great work on this.
One of the best horror,sf movie ever.John Carpenter is legend!!
Wow this was awesome
That should have been done!
Except the main title.
Good job!!
U nailed it dude!!!
Well done! Music from 2001? Has a nice eerie effect.
Your Trailers are amazing. Would love to see you do one on John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN 🎃
Very well done. 👍
Amazing job!
This is amazing
I have already watched the thing but damn this trailer is making rewatch it
Very well done!!Great job!!!
One of the Greatest si-fi Horror movies Ever Made ! ! ! ! !
This is such great marketing for an old classic great movie.
Thanks for checking it out!
Excelent, good job
It's very good work and it looks great, but I have to say it suffers a little from not having a pay-off at the end. Modern trailers usually put a big shock, surprise of reveal at the end. This sort of just fizzles out quietly.
I agree. It's a damn good, phenomenal trailer that doesn't show anything, but it needs some sort of money shot at the end, and the theme music.
LOVE it.
u've done a great work!
YES BABY!
This was very good to bad you did'nt have the theme music in this that would've been neat!
There was one trailer like your's but it seems to have been removed.
Best horror movie of all-time!!!!🤘☢🤘
Yeah, was totally obvious it was a modern trailer the second I heard the INCEPTION "BRAAAM!!" Haha, but no, definitely a killer fuckin fan made trailer. And by fan made, a visually professional-like fan made trailer! Props!!!!
this trailer was cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Solid
2001 music really fits well
Well done.
awesome
Trailers from the last decade: *Booming radar sound with zooming in*, character speaking, *again with booming radar sound with zooming in*
Super!
This movie will haunt me till the day I die
Don't worry. You won't be afraid when you come back as one of them.
The titles are a bit off, but the editing is quite good!
nice job, glad you didn't show a single monster too
Still good in 2024
Modern trailer go brrrrrrr
WOW
music from odyssey ?
+Wes Mauleon I hope you are Trolling!
***** almost nice joke
You're correct. And the music was used in the trailers for the 2014 Godzilla film.
Very good but I would have put Bennings in the snow howling as a last shot...
Thanks for having a look at it.
That is one bad ass trailer for a great film, that was over shadowed by crapfest et
I liked the remake, not as much as the original but still good
Sonny Smithers Agreed. Ironically, the best part of the remake was how they tied the ending to the beginning of Carpenter's film.
+TwistedKingdom74
It was a prequel
It wasn't a remake, it was a prequel
Nobody ever told you that carpenters movie is a remake.... wow youtube.
The prequel had practical effects and made one movie from it but the studio stepped in and changed everything Bc they thought it was bad
In the artic, A group of research scientists are confronted by an alien creature who assumes the appearance of his victims.
Nice job, I'm actually 13 but me and my dad are actually looking for a copy of the movie. also I share the directors last name which I find interesting.
