If that B-1s memory banks weren't corrupted, then he'd surely remember it and tell the farmers about it, because if you look at the size and strength of that thing, it'd be an incredibly useful robot to have on a farm.

I always liked battle droids. In the prequel films they were designed to look clumsy and only effective in great numbers. But in The Clone Wars they got personalities. Most of them were alike, but some were different. And they produced a nice comic relief even in very grim episodes, I really liked that.
And eventually I grew to hate the fact that the Separatists AND the Republic used the type of army of their choice, destined to fight to death for a cause they not necessarily agree with. It's a soulless and inhumane thing, and TCW did an excellent job portraying it in several episodes.
Personally I like to think that the Lone Battle Droid went to search for the grapple droid, and convince the farmers to repair and reactivate that one too.

Fun fact. The droids personalities weren't programmed. They were accidental emergent properties. When the CIS switched from a Droid hive mind under a central control system to fully autonomous robots capable of individual processing and action the CIS programmers hit a problem. The B1s were cheap to make and had their proccessers couldn't handle everything their new programming could do. This resulted in glitches happening as their overtaxed ram and processers kept struggling.

Bet you'll like this battle droid story too, his name is BATS, rex and general kenobi were cornered and when the general deflected a beam to a droid it fried its circuits seemingly 'reprogramming' him and giving him a conscience. At first the droid was confused then when he realized that the droids outnumber rex and kenobi he turned against the droid army saying they were absolute bullies, the other droids however were programmed not to shoot at other droids so this was Bats' advantage as he slaughtered the army while dual wielding laser pistols but he was soon captured, they thought about reprogramming Bats and memory wiping him to restore his loyalty to the droid army but before they could he went berserk and attacked the droids, snapped a droid's arm and began throwing it around like some whip but rex soon arrived at the scene and rescued him repaying his debt and they took bats with him, I think he was also sent into missions whenever they went undercover into the enemy base, there's also a video about it too

This actually makes you really think -- perhaps the reason why droids had so much goofy dispositions in the animated and movie iterations is because they had the sentience and freedom to choose all along. Except the droids were forced to obey through the core, while the clones have inhibitor chips.

@@Sevthehunter here's a more accurate, but likely sadder reason.
They're basically the equivalent of Infants. They are given basic programming and thrown into a war, with only protocols to follow. Even the clones, with their accelerated growth and trainers, had the idea to go beyond child stage.
The Droids likely didn't. It's Why they're so Snarky.

The Clone wars. The wrong name. The Slave war it was. Battle droids of all types found indepandance and made new lives after the war and the clones are living breathing humans. Clones are really just the biggest group of twins in history. One clone is no more alike to another as a twin is alike to another.
The Galactic war may have taken away lives of people who had lives before the war, but at least they had a choice whether or not to die in combat.

so, a artificial being used as a slave for war, creates it's first thought, which is to run away, to live a life outside the war, he is confronted by another droid, who only shows that he is scared of death to, but dies, so the lonely droid, scarred from the encounter, moves on, but blacks out as well, but many months later is found by farmers, fixed, and given the chance at a new life? • @YourCrazyDolphin
      @YourCrazyDolphin 7 лет назад +24

Literally every droid in starwars is technically sentient, yes. This only develops over time as they gain more expieriences- though this can overflow their memory of they don't have the hardware or program to maintain themselves (which Battle Droids do not possess). Battle Droids stick out in particular as they are given tasks far too specialized and too many programs for their hardware to handle, so they are constantly over-worked just by trying to do their most basic jobs, and they themselves are fully aware of this... This is also why they seem so dumb. Not so much that they are incapable of it, but rather they are just using so much of their memory that the droids can't really think through all the other things running.

Not really. How many fans still hold KOTOR in high regard and refuse to accept it as non canon? Likewise for Republic Commando, the Thrawn Trilogy and hundreds of similar titles? Disney owns the rights, not the soul of the series. That belongs to both Lucas and his fanbase, the people who actually made Star Wars what it is today, not people who merely milk it as a cash cow.
The new films are terrible, even the actors involved in them say so. It won’t be too long before they’re simply forgotten about, whereas the legends material will continue to stand the test of time. That is worth infinitely more than Disney marking something as approved.

The Clone Wars are cool because it's a full scale galactic war. With two entire armies fighting across thousands of planets.
But the Galactic Civil War is cool in a different way, it's not a war as much as an ant fighting a human, but somehow the ant wins.

I'm planning on joining the great cosplay club Mandalorian Mercs. mandoa.org is a website featuring the entire dictionary. Enjoy!

and this is why I'm a grey Jedi. I can let my emotions flow but still walk a light path. it's times like these, tears must flow no matter if it means you're a danger to the force.

I always though it was cruel, the way the Jedi and clones destroyed droids indiscriminaly wether they were armed or unarmed. Even the Jedi, killed unarmed droids, something they would ever have done with flesh made sentients. Goes to show that the Jedi aren't that enlightened, since they discriminate between organic and non-organic beings. The few Jedi who saw droids as equals beings were not taken seriousely by the others.
Both the droids and the clones were slaves to their respective governements, and when both were used up they were discarded. The droids and clones should have united and rebelled against the separtist alliance and galactic republic.

Ribeiro da Silva Lopes João maria Or at least have the Droids kill the politicians and businessmen of the CIS to make the Confederacy's leadership people who actually believed in the Cause.

Ribeiro da Silva Lopes João maria eh, killing them is more a mercy than letting them live. they are recycled and used in war if they are repairable

Well they're not conscious. this was a single case of droids escaping their programming. they're basically computers that can shoot

Yeah. DEFECT_ was a saxxy winner with the same story, except instead of getting restored by farmers, that one ends with the bit (a sniper bot, if I’m not mistaken) getting incinerated in a factory

Honestly, as a soldier myself this story hits hard. Whatever veteran you are, you were afraid. You wanted to run, because it was all meaningless. Your single patrol wouldn't break enemy morale. You were never going to end the war in that skirmish along that road or in that field. You wanted to run, but you didn't. You couldn't. But it's not programming that keeps you in your position, its knowledge that you "grapple droid", isnt a droid. He's just as scared as you are, so you're in the fight to make it easier for him. Sometimes you win, and the feeling after is ecstasy. There are times you don't though, and you know that battle buddy of yours didn't have to die. Because if that skirmish had never happened, that firefight never occurred, it wouldn't have made a singular difference between victory and defeat.

This has to be the saddest story in all of Star Wars. It trully shows the level of sentience droids have

Drops Are Fun They're like actual people, underneath the joking and stuff they do they're actually afraid, nervous, anxious, terrified of what they're going to do.

It's R0GR (from the TV show freemaker adventures)
    Missing arm
    Loyalty to droid army gone
Found and given a better life
    Emotional
    In conclusion it's R0GR

Now what if the liberated Battle droids found a way to join up together and increase the amount of power they had and then they liberated other droids and those droids liberated more droids and those droids liberated more droids and then the liberated droids formed The Droid Rebellion and went to Geonosis and overthrew the recycling process and liberated all the droids then the droids decided to stay on Geonosis and a new self aware Droid Civilization began to rise and prosper. So what do you think?
