Ramos is one of the most decorated defenders of all time and one of the best captains in the modern era of football. However when it comes to the art of defending I personally put Stam, Maldini, Cannavaro and many others as far as centre backs go above Ramos. As Ramos often relies on his speed to get him out of trouble when most great defenders would rely on spatial awareness and anticipation.
I respect your opinion bro, but you're seriously underrating Ramos here. It's much easier to defend when you're in a defensive team (aka 80s Milan, Italy NT, Mourinho's Chelsea or Inter, than at a team like Real Madrid, that likes to go full offensive and gets their defenders unprotected to counters. The easiest way to put it on perspective is with Cannavaro and Walter Samuel. Cannavaro got to Madrid the season he won the World Cup and the Ballon D'or. He wasn't a shadow in Madrid of what he used to be. Looked pretty average to be fair, nothing near Ramos today. Same with Samuel, he got to Madrid as one of the best defenders in the world, in Madrid he was pretty average, and then he went out from Madrid to Inter and was again one of the best in the world. Both of them had shot spams in Madrid because don't performing good enough. Carvalho was a semi god in Chelsea's defense, in Madrid he was good and thats it, not great. And today look at Varane, he is one of the best of his generation, Euro and WC winner being the leader in France's defense. Yet in Madrid he only performs when Ramos is there, when there is not Ramos, he becomes shit. Defending in Madrid has been historically very difficult, thats why some of the best defenders ever can perform there. Ramos doing it amazingly over that much time makes him even greater, and be sure that if Ramos played in a Milan/Inter/Chelsea/Italy kind of team, he would look as good as any in pure defending.

So then, to Sergio Ramos. I honestly don't think I am disrespecting Ramos. For a matter of a fact I think Sergio Ramos is a great defender, however I just don't think he is the greatest. For me he doesn't make my top 5 best CB of all time shortlist and by that logic he wouldn't even sniff my top 5 defenders list. I know you might think what I am about to say is unfair on Ramos but... When I see players who have mastered the dark arts of defending with a 5th of the raw athletism that Sergio Ramos was blessed with. I put those players on a higher pedestal than Ramos. As they showed me more with less.
Besides the standards of a modern day defender at the highest level is on a rampant decline compared to the previous eras. So it's easier to stand out as a excellent pure defender this generation considering how far defending as a whole has fallen. In todays football, there is more of a precedent of Centre Backs being good on the ball than actually mastering the dark arts of defending.
Real Madrid is undoubtedly one of, if not thee most difficult places to succeed as a foreigner. However I'm not so sure about Spaniards thou. As Spaniards don't really get the same level of pressure and abuse as foreign players do(Only Iker Casillas got it really bad and I suppose Guti had to deal with homophobia from a small section of fans) . Another thing I want to say on the Real Madrid thing is, how good a player is at Madrid shouldn't be a benchmark for good a players career/legacy is overrall. As many players like Eto'o, Robben, Cambiasso, Ze Roberto and Sneijder all failed at Real Madrid and they were all considered surplus to requirements by Real Madrid. Yet every player I named became world class after leaving Real Madrid. So you can clearly see its unfair to just judge a play solely on how they were as a Madridsta.
He's just very competitive, rough, and low tempered but he's arguably the second best defender of history and the best defender in the world right now.

madrid signed Ramos in 2005 when he was 19 paying every cent of his clause plus tax from sevilla..he already had international caps with spain and consequently considered one of the best defenders in the country, earlier in his career he was playing right back, then mutated to being the best (or top 3) center back in football history
He didnt get a yellow card and then the referee changed it into a red one, the thing is once you alredy have a yellow one , if you get another one then It "transforms" into a red one, which means you can get a red card by getting It at once, ir by having two yellow cards. Hope this helps 😊

I honestly love Ramos bad boy personality on the pitch lol but he is a very different person outside the pitch. He relates well with players, respects players and he doesn't quarrel often. Also because Ramos is known for his aggressive play, some players find it easy to trick the referee into believing Ramos tackled them hard.

So for football, there is a yellow, a straight red, and 2 yellow =1 red. And for the messi tackle in the 2nd clip, when both yr legs are off the ground during the slide tackle, you are not in control of your body and yr speed, so its a straight red. If ramos did that tackle again but with only one leg stuck in and one leg lagging to control his direction and speed, it might be a yellow but definately not a red. Like so quan can see pls

Been watching Ramos play for many years, was always curious what would happen if Ramos fought Ibrahimovic.
When a player gets 2 yellow cards in one game then it becomes a red. Sometimes it can be a direct red. Sometimes he can have just one yellow and then next foul is a straight red. But since Ramos already had a yellow, he got a second one and then the red.

in the 5:08 minute the referee didnt replace the yellow card for a red. what happened is that ramos already had a yellow card and when you get two yellow cards in the same game that results automatically in a red, so he showed the 2nd yellow card just to show that he was receiving the red card because the 2 added yellow cards instead of receiving a straight red card (which only happens when something really bad is done by a player)
