Btw a tackle is clean as long as your foot your tackling with makes contact with the ball first before it make any contact with the player.
Red card will be given if the defender is last man back and doesn't get the ball cleanly at all a red card will be given no matter what. Getting a red card means you will be ejected off the match and also won't be able to play in the next match as well.
If you get a yellow card and than you get another yellow card that yellow card will turn into a red and you will be sent off.

slide tackling (rules) :
*its legal if you hit the ball before hitting the man (then you can take them out as long as its the same movement...you cant kick out half way through that would be a foul),
*you also are meant to have at least one foot in contact with the ground, (2 in the air is considered a 2 footed tackle and is a straight red card, you can break legs with 2 foot tackles),
* your studs/spikes should be pointing down
Extra detail:
Some grey area in these,for example many slide tackles are considered legal where both feet have left the ground or the studs are "up" or "Showing, but its more to do with form.
The body shape to tackle and the body shape to foul are different , so if you shape to slide and get the ball and your bottom foot comes slightly off the ground it might be overlooked.
it depends how reckless the challenge is, some refs will send you off for intent alone, whether you get the ball or not, so it's really about how you shape to tackle and when you time it in regards it being a foul or considered dangerous. The perfect legal slide tackle is to steal the ball sliding and the follow through takes the standing leg of the attacker ad the attacker falls over.
Its remarkable that there are not more leg breaks with slides, and the weird thing is if you have 2 players sliding into a 50-50 ball as long as they both go for the ball 99.99999999% of the time, no one gets hurt, In fact when people worry about getting hurt they tend to get hurt...odd but seems to go down like that
When to use it:
It is useful on the flanks more than in the center, its better to stay on your feet generally, a slide tackle should only be made if you are sure it can be completed and the ball will be won,otherwise you are on your ass and out of the game for likely the entire opposition phase of play

If the defender tackles someone and they get the ball first it’s no foul if they hit the opponent first or they only hit the opponent it’s a foul and the yellow or red card depends how intense the foul was and if the foul is inside the big box where the goalkeeper is it’s a penalty and if the foul is outside the box it’s a free kick
