Woohaa - thank you algorithm! I would never have expected to see Kent here. But... since you brought them up, I must encourage you to give them a chance. They are/were of the most beloved alternative pop/rock bands in Sweden for a decade or two. What you just watched was "only" a promotional video for their last album and farewell tour. It hits fans in the hearts because of the anticipation, all the visual references to previous albums, and the feeling of "finality" to one of the best scandinavian bands to a lot of people.
Their songs are in swedish, and understanding the lyrics does elevate their songs. But don't let that stop you. They tried reaching a broader audience by translating two albums to english, but for some reason that didn't take off, and they gave up that idea for subsequent albums. Arguably, the swedish versions are a bit better since the english versions sound a bit forced and are sung with a slight accent. But its still a shame and probably down to bad luck, since their sound is really good, combining mainstream with more interesting and unique aspects.
Some good songs by them: Socker, Dom andra, Sundance kid, 400 slag, Palace & main, Hjärta, Vals för satan (din vän pessimisten), 999, La belle epoque, Tänd på, ...
Among the songs translated to english, I could recommend e.g. 747 (m.ruclips.net/video/2npGuZKdhgE/видео.html), Music non stop (m.ruclips.net/video/W3FEEENz-Us/видео.html) and If you were here (m.ruclips.net/video/cZB_r8TABX8/видео.html).

@@TheUnderdogDe Parasta ennen 2016. (Fin translation of the title i guess)
No but really, Swe and Fin culture are still in bed - making love. My grandfather was a "finnish war child". Many swedes volonteered to that fight, and i think the mentality is still "Finlands sak är vår sak".
However, culturally, the language barrier creates some dissonance compared to the other neighbours. Which is ironic, in so many ways.
As my granddad was from Fin, dad a born swede and my mom from the US, i find this scandinavia/nordic clash of cultures kind of cute and amusing. @mrviktorbajen needs to unstick that log up his ass though.

For many Swedes Kent is part of the nations culture and soul. So you can imagine the impact this video had as it marked the beginning of the end of an era for everyone that harbored those feelings. There's really no way for me to overstate the importance of this band to Swedes.

      I've been a Kent fan since 2009
Kent made top list in Sweden on every album. 1st on every album when they were released. So Kent is very important in the Swedish and Finland's music industry.
Same as Venom and Bathory laid the groundwork tones for Speed, Thrash and Black Metal.
It's still sad that KENT quit their music. Kent is a half Swedish / Finnish band too.

This was an announcement for their last album, and final tour. A lot of the imagery is old album covers and places and things they've sung about. They're a Swedish band, but the Finnish flag are there because all of the band members had Finnish roots.
The airplane is on the cover of the album Isola.
The girl in the jean jacket is on the cover of Hangesta hill
The white tiger is on Vapen och ammunition
The guy on a horse is on tillbaka till samtiden
Etc. It was a gift to the fans, filled with "Easter eggs"

You have so much to catch up on to understand this. It brings together every album, the history, from small to big, a small band from a small town in northern Sweden, making it into the echoing streets of Stockholm. Their music describes life in all of its ups and downs. But vague enough to make every listener discover every song a bit different to anyone else. Kent has something special that I have never heard something even remotely close.
Kent has 3 times as many Grammy awards than ABBA. 23 Grammys has been awarded to Kent songs.
Kent, it has become and always will be with me.

The drummer isn't somebody with a lot of makeup.
The drummer is Lady Death herself.
Because the band was announcing their end. Many of the visuals were touchbacks to Kent's past albums and videos.
"Sista Albumet" means "Last Album". "Sista Turnén" means "Last Tour". (I don't know Swedish but my wife does.)
Maybe the most astonishingly good farewell ever.

Many of Kent’s songs are just like this video, it starts with just one or a few sounds and builds up to a crescendo in the end. Especially the song 747. I also love this video and I see it like a statement: they started small in the town Eskilstuna and their fan base grew bigger and bigger just like the followers in this particular video. Kent is my early adulthood ❤

Kent had/still have so many hardcore fans here in Sweden. Some early songs from them are: Om du var här (if you were here), Musik Non Stop, Kevlarsjäl (Kevlarsoul), 747, Utan dina andetag, Vinter 02, FF (the one playing at the end of the song ”Dom andra”) and Sundance Kid. I was a massive fan back in the day. Fun to see you react to them. Two albums were released in an english version, ”Isola” and ”Hagnesta Hill”. A lot gets lost in translation though and my foreign friends always prefered the swedish lyrics although they didn’t get it. But I think that it’s the melancholy sound that gets people to like them regardless.

I know what it's all about because I looked it up. This piece was kent's swansong. It was a promo for the band's 12th and last studio album. The video references numerous mores from the band's past...the snow, the aircraft, the white tiger, the dark haired girl running away, the blonde in white and the horse have all appeared in prior videos. The little drummer girl really was the band's drummer, though it's difficult to pin down her identity. The video was shot in Sweden but the band also performed live street marches in other towns without the horse but with the same girl on occasion.
In my view, the power of the piece lies in every element of it being compelling. The rhythm's constancy reminds me of Ravel's Bolero but the layering of sound on sound makes it all the more mesmerizing. I certainly didn't hear an accordion. The basic drum track is joined by bass drum, guitars, synths, handclaps and a big choir. The layering also introduces effects including echo and a little phasing here and there.
The central point is the skull make up that indicates that the band is dead. It' s important to realise that this isn't just a track, it's raison d'etre is twofold. It is both an anthem and a requiem for the band.
Update: the drummer girl is called Linn Anita Nylund. There's another video with the same soundtrack and some shared footage. In this video, it's obvious that she is the woman on horseback and also the woman in white. Judge for yourself ruclips.net/video/96vnJ9Nxtzo/видео.html

Your pronounciation was really good, Då Som Nu För Alltid=Then As Now Forever. This was how they announced their last album and upcoming tour when they called it quits as a band after 26 years as one of the most popular bands in Sweden.
The video is also referencing a lot of their previous album covers so it's sort of like death is rounding up everything that's been and bringing it to closure.

Hi guys-- Here's the comment I posted on the original which according to the number of likes seems to explain it reasonably well...
For those unfamiliar with this band-- this was the way Kent announced their finish-- the last album and tour as one of Sweden's most successful bands. I'm not a "Kent expert" although I did enjoy them so this is my take-- many of the shots are of previous album covers and songs (the plane, the tiger, the running girl, the woman on horseback, woman in the tunnel, the dogs, etc.) It's as if Death is rounding up everything from the past and bringing it back together one last time, for one last march. Då Som Nu För Alltid means Then As Now Forever.

Aaah so much nostalgia in this band. My favourite songs would be Pärlor (Pearls), Ingenting (Nothing), and Egoist. These guys were huge from the latter part of the 90s until they disbanded. I was at that last closing tour, and it was so amazing. This was the music of alternative youth of my generation.
Similarly the band The Ark had a huge impact during that period for similar reasons, though they played glam rock, normalising bisexuality and gender nonconformity. I would LOVE to see your take on their break out single It Takes A Fool To Remain Sane!

Kent were around for quite some time before they disbanded, making music ranging from indie rock to more electronic sounds. Not a huge fan, but I do like some of their stuff, and there is maybe a handfull of songs that I love. One of them is "Töntarna" (don't know what the best word for "töntarna" would be in English, maybe "the geeks" or "the wimps", people not likely to be very popular at school for example). It has a really cool video featuring students from Höghammargymnasiet, a school for young people with special needs. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/kkhCH5I7e94/видео.html

    Music: Joakim Berg
History, everything is about our history
All those who went against the current
Those who went their own way
    Dreams
    Everything is about our dreams
    When we dreamers stop dreaming
You others have no dreams left
They will sing songs about us
    We are forever
They will make films about us
    We are forever
They will write books about us
    You and I forever
    Forever
They will sing songs about us
    Then as now forever
    Then as now forever
    But we forget
Yes god so easily we forget
That which drove us got us to sparkle
Like those stars we once were
History, everything is about our history
So please go against the current
    Yes go your own way
They will sing songs about us
    We are forever
They will make films about us
    We are forever
They will write books about us
    You and I forever
    Forever
They will sing songs about us
    Then as now forever
    Then as now forever
It is you and I forever
    You and I forever...
I'm only joking, no one will write books
I'm only joking, no one will make films
I'm only joking, no one will sing songs about us
    No songs about us...
    Sing songs about us
    We are forever
    Please make films about us
    We are forever

Ive listened to a couple of their other songs and they are good, but I've never really dug any further which I should probably look to address. Mike was bang on point when he said its stirring stuff! I really think you guys should take a look at the Hu- band -wolf totem... it has been widely reviewed and reacted to by the myriad of inferior reaction channels to you guys but all the same I know it will appeal to Gingers warrior soul and Mike's love of stirring call to arms! 😀 give it a go I think you guys will become fans!
