    Absolutely love this type of video with you and your daddy and the guys working on the combine and any machine for that matter.
    It's just intriguing to listen to what their saying when trying to figure out what's wrong and what to do to fix the issue.and your cute little self giggling and doing goofy things like dropping stuff on the camera lens.
    So funny I was smiling all the way through it.
    Such a cool thing to see a dad and his daughters working the farm and just being together. Latter In life you will remember back to all thse great times with you dad and sisters and mom and smile and be so glad you had these times together.
    My daddy is gone and I miss him and the times we spent together doing things together on my uncles farm.great memories and wish we could make more.
    You're a sweet funny young lady Claudia and a joy to watch no matter what your doing.
    Thanks for sharing yalls lives with us 🙏

    Beautiful workshop 👌Baling at the end really brought back some memories from my childhood, when small bales were more prevelant, all the family that could help did, i was too small to lift them up on to the trailer so i drove the tractor lol. Good memories got me feeling some type of way. Seriously though a truly accurate 'snapshot' of summertime on the farm.

      outdoorlife keith it won’t, I help a guy move big square bales and I thought the same before I actually moved bales, it was my biggest worry. But 8 big square alfalfa bales that weigh roughly 2 thousand pounds per bale. It is a total of 16 thousand pounds and it doesn’t even move any. We don’t have to strap it down going down the high way but we do just for legal issues, so if a bale does fall off and kills someone we aren’t liable if the bales are strapped down

    Perhaps its some other issue then I think but had the similar thing happen to one of our JD 9600's last year and I happened to be driving it, at night of course and lost steering and then oil pressure to the engine gear case buzzer came on and had to shut it down quick before anything got damaged. It was then I realized as I shone the flashlight on the side of the combine you were videoing that oil was all over the place and I thought I had blown a hose but that was not the problem. Called a mechanic we use who is intimately knowledgeable on the somewhat older JD equipment and turned out to be a problem he was well aware of which is an internal seal between two hydraulic pumps and one of those pumps is for the engine gear case ( powers the steering and the main separator clutch ) and the other pump is for the rest of the hydraulic system on the combine. So what happened is that the oil was being sucked out of the engine gear case and transferred into the hydraulic tank causing the hydraulic tank to overflow all over the place out of its filler cap. The fix ( this is a known weak point and JD updated the pumps as a result ) was to buy two new pumps etc and replace it all $$$ and that solves the problem, the mechanic had us up and running in a few hours as he has replaced a lot of these pumps and said he doesn't waste his time trying to repair the old pumps. That dipstick, I had to replace that on one of the combines as the dip stick was becoming lose on its rubber/steel cap but not failed completely like yours did. Oh and by the way the engine gear case holds 16 liters of oil in case you still haven't found that spec LOL.

    • @charlesb4267
      @charlesb4267 4 года назад

      I just watched the recorded live stream and listened to your dad explain the chain of events of what happened as I was wondering how a belt could have anything to do with the assembly loosing oil but now that makes sense in that fluky situation where the unloading auger drive belt ended up mangling itself around the drive pulley which comes out of that same gear case and ruined the shaft seal ... in turn leaking oil out and why the gear case ran out of oil. Then mistakenly thinking there was enough oil in the gear case because of the faulty dipstick leading up to this. Hopefully it never damaged the internals of the gear case but don't discount that either, it will rear its ugly head if its going to at the most inopportune time of course !

    So good you show that farming isn't all plain sailing and how much of a struggle it can be to do repairs in the field as some just seem to think all us farmers have to do is sit in the cab on RUclips while GPS does all the work lol. Always know when it's a serious breakdown because the John Deere Bible comes out 😂 good to see you got it fixed long enough to get the wheat finished anyway, what's the model number of your little NH baler as I use to use the NH 575 like that an loved it as rarely went wrong. Looks like your really making the most of your time on the farm before you go off to collage Claudia, enjoy every moment as harvest is the best time of the year. Great vid an keep up the great work feeding the country 👏

    Had the dipstick break loose on the 9500. Same thing. It has a long top handle so you don't have to reach between muffler and air cleaner to check it. Look for brass shavings in the hyd reservoir when you change filters and fluid as those charge pumps are protected by a screen in the tank only. And the brass signifies a catastrophic pump failure is on the horizon for the hydrostatic pump. I found out the hard way. 12,000 repair at john deere.

    Suppose to be a couple rivets up at the top that hold a round metal disc. They wear out and drop, along with the disc. There is a point down the dipstick tube where that disc may catch and you can reach in with a magnet and retrieve it. I place a pop can over top of dipstick, hole in top of can, then use sealant to hold it in place. That cap they use doesn't seal very well.

    Could you guys run a little bit bigger header on that combine. 😂😂😂

    • @charlesb4267
      @charlesb4267 4 года назад

      I had thought that also but with field hopping with all the small fields I assume the header is staying on the combine and so a wide header with all those roads and vehicles would not work well at all. Not to mention the rolling hilly land and a narrow header along with the hillside combine would do a fantastic job of following the ground and not digging in one end of the header into the ground and the fields are smaller and its easier to maneuver a narrow header. Plus they bale behind it and there is enough material to deal with as you can see even with an 18 foot header and the windrows would dry out faster if rained on and be easier to flip over if need be. So as much as it seems odd to some of us farmers to be using that narrow a header, there are reasons to go with a narrow header on some farms.

    • @MrKaba1985
      @MrKaba1985 4 года назад

      You have to work with your landscape and not the size of your header as you can see on the Part with Tim is showing that was about 10 - 15 degrees between both sides.
      On an flat surface you can run an 30 - 50 feet header but not in this condition. As examples I'm living in Germany in the North they are using between 35 - 44 feet header (flat landscape and bigger fields) in the middle you are running between 24 - 35 feet on the same Combines with the bigger header your flying over the crops in the state im living on one side and the other side would plugging the field.
